The Franciscan Wedding Church celebrates marriage and devotion. Kfar Cana is a Roman Catholic church known as the Wedding Church. Kfar Cana is best-known for its role in the ministry of Jesus. It was as the site of his first miracle. Jesus turned water into wine at a wedding, at the request of his mother. Kfar Cana is about an hour's walk from Nazareth, Jesus' hometown. The Wedding Church is administered by the Franciscan Order. It's a popular place for weddings.

Located in the area where Jesus performed his first miracle as a guest at a wedding party. If you renew your wedding vows you can purchase a certificate of your renewal. Lots of little shops around sell wedding wine from Cana that could be a great gift for a young couple getting married back home.

Walking up to this church from the main road, you first had to run the gauntlet of all the traders, drink sellers and souvenir stalls. When arriving at the church, the front courtyard and fascade are impressive; however, inside the church is pretty average. There is a spot where a large container of some sort of situated, and I assume you're supposed to believe that that is one of the vestibules Jesus used in his miracle. Other than that, there didn't appear to any reference to this miracle, nor explanation about what was on this site beforehand to enable you to get a sense of the significance of this site. Nice to say I've been there, but not sure it was worth the effort.

A Holy Church to renew your wedding vows. The Franciscan Wedding Church located in Cana, Galilee, Israel is the site of the first miracle worked by Jesus at a wedding held there where he blessed the water and it turned into wine. The Chapel for renewing wedding vows is peaceful and spiritual and a very good place to get in touch with your inner selves and each other and renew your commitment to married life. Prior booking is essential and group bookings receive preference. After receiving a blessing, certificates can be purchased from the Piety Stall for 5 - 10 American Dollars as a memento.

We traveled to Israel with a tour group from our church, and one of the places we toured was The Wedding Church in Cana which is built on the site of Jesus' first miracle. It was an interesting site, but my favorite thing about it is that there is a small chapel set aside for people to renew their vows. If you have a pastor in your group, it is free of charge. My husband and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary by renewing our vows in a sweet and touching ceremony in a very special place.

The “wedding church” might be a moving place to visit if you believe that Jesus turned water into wine there, for his first miracle. It is a popular place for couples to renew their vows and we saw a couple get engaged there. If, however, you are not a Believer, then the place is only of moderate historical interest and even less artistic or architectural value. It all depends on your perspective.

This is a lovely church in Cana. While on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land last month, our group visited this church. Fifteen of our couples renewed their wedding vows here. It was spectacular to witness! Be sure to visit this lovely church during your Cana visit.

We would like to renew wedding vows in Cana in March, anyone has contact info for priest? Thanks!

Please, how can I participate with my husband to renew our marriage vows in Cana, Israel? Do I call the Franciscan church? Is there a special day in the week when they do this special blessing? How long does it take to renew our vows? Is it during mass? Is there a special tour we should take? Do you have any idea at what time of the day this takes place?
Thank you so much for your answers,
Ines

How did you go about scheduling a ceremony? I can't find the place to book a day. Do the people who do the ceremony let you say your own vows and do things as you want or is it super strict?
Written November 1, 2018
Hello,
In our case, we were on a group tour and our priest (from CA) held a mass and then the wedding vow renewal ceremony.
That answer doesn't really help you, but maybe if you are there without a tour, you can check for local tours to the church to see if any can arrange the ceremony with a local priest? Not sure if that is possible?

We are from the Philippines. My wife and I plan to go to Cana to renew our wedding vows but we will not be part of a tour group. Will the church accept us and provide a priest who shall administer the renewal of vows.

I see lots of questions regarding the renewal of vows, but is it possible to get married here?
Written July 29, 2018
Hello,
don't see why not. Its a proper church so if you write to them they probably would officiate the ceremony however we were a catholic group so getting married in Oz requires a bit of preparation so you may need to check on that issue.
We celebrated mass there when renewing our vows with our own priest as we were on a pilgrimage.
Good luck

I'm bringing a group to Israel. We already have a pastor. If several couples would like to renew their wedding vows, can they do it there and have our pastor officiate?
Written September 9, 2017
Yes, they can. You usually have to book it in advance. If you are a Roman Catholic group, they will let you celebrate mass. If not, you can still have a service of renewal of marriage vows, and they provide a book with a suggested order of service. They also video the ceremony, which you can buy copies of afterwards.
