After feeling a bit dissapointed, we entered the butterfly garden. There were beautiful gossamer wings everywhere. A secret garden filled with some unsual specimens and tranquil surroundings. We then strolled into the area with walking sticks. The staff encourage us to have some personal interaction with these insects then on to the lizards. They allowed up to hold and take... More

A gem for those interested on the topic. Or even if you're not this is still very interesting. Staff are amazing and really introduce you to insects, offering you to handle if you wish - no pressure. Starts with a museum and then through the live exhibits. Really hands on if you have the stomach for it, or just observe... More

We were pleasantly surprised by how good this display of insects truly is. The displays were set out so well with informative information about the exhibits. The 'keepers' were great - they obviously love their job and the live exhibits that they care for. This was really a highlight of our day which included visiting the poor chained up monkeys... More

I had no idea this place would be so cool. Really informative with lots of signage fully and expertly translated into English. Live Tarantula and scorpion displays were fantastic. Butterfly arboretum was sweet. But getting to hold the walking stick insects, mantises, and bearded lizards was transporting. The guides were friendly and informed and answered all of my many questions... More

We arrived to book a viewing with a baby tiger cub and paid our money. We arrive at cage to be advised that we would be with 7 month old tigers as that they had no tiger cubs. Why did the booking area tell us as we would of enjoyed time with a lion cub.

The "ZOO" is small but interesting. You can see different insects and butterflies in the muzeum - just after the entry. Then you will see live animals - from spiders to butterflies. The staff is really friendly and if you are interested in more details they follow you around and show you and explain everything. I would recommend this activity... More

Very friendly staff. We got to hold walking sticks and walking leaves as well as lizards. They also have a butterfly garden where big and colorful butterflies come really close. Only about 30 min by car from Chiang Mai centre

We especially enjoyed the hands-on nature of this zoo. Not only do they have a wonderful butterfly house, my two daughters were able to pick up and hold baby tortoise, baby bearded dragons, iguana, walking sticks (Thailand has the two largest specie) and other cool insects. We would highly recommend this very genuine reasonably priced zoo

There are several attractions geared to tourists along the Mae Rim corridor, such as the elephant show, tiger zoo, etc. I had not anticipated visiting the insect zoo, not being a huge fan of them, but was glad I did. On first entering the facility, it just seemed to be a collection of butterflies and beetles from around the world,... More

I normally wouldn't review such an excursion, but this outing was so wonderful. We went as a family and they were so wonderful with my son. This is a great thing to do with kids and even if you are quite squirmy about insects - like me. Still go. You'll be so pleasantly surprised. A perfect trip.
