The wildlife tour to friendly cove was beautiful and the guide was excellent. The road from Gold River was a horror and the campground dusty. The boat tour was nice but there is nothing the marina has to offer to enjoy the view.

I have been staying at these resorts at least twice a year for the last five years - 1 week with family and 1 week just the guys - there are the best resorts bar none on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. The management and staff are all top notch there is not much they can't do for you and always with a smile. If you are looking for a place to fish, boat, hike, visit historic sites or just sit back and relax this is the place for you - nothing but first class treatment from your first call to the day you leave. The accommodations, food and service all top notch on a scale of 1-10 I rate these locations 15.

Took our son for a college graduation adventure trip and it was amazing. We love to fish and this was our first experience with being "spoiled" while vacation-fishing. Everyone was so nice, accommodating and knowledgeable. The facilities were well equipped & super clean. Sleeping on the water is just special and the beds are comfy. Maybe stayed up a little too late, glued to the pool table for a night of fun and libations - but that just adds to the challenge of chasing after those early AM fish. We booked a guided trip (to get the lay of the waters), as well as renting one of their boats. The boats are terrific and come with all your basic fishing needs. PS- don't bother bringing rain gear, they provide you HH.
Chef Josh and staff know how to lay out a meal!! NOTE: Fish hard and come back HUNGRY! Each course, every night was something to ponder upon while out on water, waiting to reel in the next big one. I don't mean large portions of your every day food fare...We got to enjoy a true artist at work - the food was amazing. We also had fun with picking from a huge assortment of lunch items, to pack up and take out on the water. Can't say enough about how much fun we had - a huge shout out to all the employees who made our trip so darn memorable - THANKS.

We have spent a week here and have fished on our own, with a guide and done a nature focused trip. All have been absolutely brilliant. Taking a boat is easy and we caught 4 salmon. The nature focused trip was fabulous and Sam showed us many bears, seals, porpoise (who don’t porpoise!) and a humpback whale. A brilliant outing. The fishing trip was also great and Paul easily tailored it so the kids had a great time too. He’s a great guide and a fountain of local knowledge. There is a play area for the kids and everything is really user friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Absolutely recommend.

Thank you for the fabulous review! We love having families at Moutcha Bay, and we are so glad you could come and stay! Our guides pride themselves with their local knowledge and love for the area and it's nice to hear that it's appreciated. We hope to welcome you back to the Nootka Sound in the future.

My husband and I just spent 4 nights, with 3 days of fishing, at at Nooka Marine’s Newton Cove Resort (NCR). We go fishing every year for my husband’s birthday and this was our best sport fishing trip ever! The resort is quite lavish for a fishing lodge, which was great, but you go to these places for the fish, and fishing from NCR with our guide Paul K was awesome. We were picked up in Moutcha Bay by Paul K and taken on a one hour boat ride through Moutcha Bay and Esperanza Sound to the beautiful floating Newton Bay Resort. Along the way we stopped to watch a mama and baby whale frolic in the water. Our room was as nice as a small room at a 5 star hotel. A hot cooked to order breakfast was a great way to start each day. For lunch you packed your own boxed lunch (in your keepsake lunch bag) from the vast array of items laid out for lunch. After a day of fishing you were met at the dock with hot towels (yes, what a nice touch!) and while you showered, hung out, told fish stories and had a drink, your fish was weighed and processed on site. You can bring your own alcohol or buy drinks from the bar. Hors d’oeuvres were served everyday at 5:30 followed by a delicious, foodie worthy, four course dinner (with wine) at 6:30. Most important to me, a full day of fishing was just that at Newton Cove Resort. The fishing started when you wanted it too (we started at 6:30 others started as early as 5:30 and a few at 8:00) and went until you either caught your daily quota or until 4:00-4:30. This was impressive to us as we have fished other places where a full day of fishing was much shorter. The boats used at Newton Bay Resort were very well equipped and comfortable and the guides are first rate, which to me is the most important thing since the guide is what turns a FISHING trip into a CATCHING trip!!! Our guide Paul K was exceptional. We caught 148lbs of salmon over 3 days, including a 23lb Chinook and a 13lb Coho. Nooka Marine Adventures is a first class company.

Staying at Nootka Lodge and they organised a day tour with Samantha to explore the sounds, look for wildlife and learn about the heritage of the area. We were very impressed with Sams knowledge and understanding and the Friendly Cove visit. Great day and experience which we highly recommend.

Just spent another fantastic week with friends and family at Newton Cove Resort - Kimberly and staff are second to none - food beyond expectations - accommodations fantastic. Thanks to Sam & Shane our coolers were overflowing on the way home and to Jamie for the processing. If you are looking for an all inclusive fishing adventure or just to sit back relax and take in the scenery this is the place to be look no further. You are treated like Royalty from the time you hit the dock until you leave and beyond.
