Full-Day Highlights of Prince Edward County Private Tour

In 2014, Macleans magazine named the county among the Ten Places You Must See. The county became the only tourist destination in Canada, which was included in the list of Best Places to Travel in 2015 by Travel and Leisure Magazine.

In Prince Edward county, festivals are held year-round. This year, the famous Lavender Festival is cancelled, but we will visit magnificent lavender fields and you will marvel at many cultivars of lavender with a miriad of colours, scents and tastes.

During our one-day trip, we will taste wine at local wineries and try different varieties of cheese produced here. We will visit several art galleries and a sculpture garden. We will see the famous Lake on the Mountain (the Mohawk people call it Onokenoga, or Lake of the Gods) and the equally famous dunes, drive along the historic loyalist road and visit the picturesque towns of Bloomfield, Wellington and Picton.

It was raining and they weren’t doing tastings inside. They did offer a $20 wine tasting kit (too much) and the hot dog cart was also closed. So can’t comment on wine or food

The tasting was offered in a unique way with 4 samples in small glass bottles in a box along with the glass for tasting. The outdoor seating was very nice with a great view of the grape vines. There was a food truck there as well.

They have a very interesting and creative way of handling their tastings during this covid time - individual tasting boxes, which you take outside and enjoy at your leisure. It was quite pleasant to sit outside at a table, read up on the wines we were trying, soak in the pleasant country atmosphere, and watch the chickens wandering around! Low key, stress-free. It was a nice way to spend a bit of time during our little getaway. There is a cocktail truck on site as well , which is another piece of interest, and the barn (where you can buy bottles, tasting kits, visit restroom, etc.) is taking all the necessary pandemic precautions. I quite enjoyed the Riesling and there was a Spiced White that was interesting, though made me think of Christmas!

Now I must say that we arrived at 5pm just as they were closing up and so we didn’t visit the winery. But right behind them in their picnic park area is Old Salt Cocktails and a sausage grill. Dave the owner of Old Salt was nice enough to chat with us and pour us some drinks; their gin mule was fantastic and refreshing, and he spent some time just hanging out and chatting with us. Beautiful back garden picnic area and nice place to relax.

Outstanding -- we almost skipped it due to the poor reviews, but it was the highlight of the six wineries we visited on Closson Rd. The grassy knolls, the idyllic atmosphere, the epic cocktails (try 'Sunday Service'). It was just what we needed. We loved it so much.
