About
Closson Chase is a quality-driven producer that has helped spearhead the birth of the Prince Edward County wine industry. Since 1999, it has been committed to creating distinctive wines that rival the world’s finest. Set in Hillier, Ontario, the estate is over 30 acres of south facing, limestone-rich soil under vine; planted high density to the classic Burgundian-varietals of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with small yields, French-inspired vinification and careful barreling in 100% French oak.

Wife and I went as part of a wine tour.
The worst reception we have ever had at any winery in the world. Bordering on rude. Almost arguing with tour guide about payment. Initially offering only 1 set of tasting wines for 2 people, had to be asked for second. Provided just bit of paper explaining each wine with no further information or assistance, didn't even point out where the water was.

We enjoyed our visit and the staff were great, very friendly and willing to answer any question. Very popular with the bachelorette crowd as we saw quite a few stop by. While we enjoyed the wines, that can be a personal taste but they met ours. We did a curated wine experience and Wayne was our host and did great. We found it a worthwhile upgrade and recommend it as it is more detailed experience as opposed to buying a flight of wines. Food was excellent, surprisingly a good amount and a good value. Seemed to be a popular stop on most people's itinerary and well worth a visit. We will return again the next time we are in the area.

We had been here before, and really enjoyed it. Went again, there was a major thunderstorm, and literally told by a worker to get out because they had an event happening. Zero regard for our safety driving in a severe thunderstorm. I understand wanting to clear people out, but you have to give grace when it is legitimately unsafe. There was also a better way to phrase it.
Would never come back.
We were paying costumers. What terrible customer service. It is absurd to expect people to leave in the middle of a thunderstorm?? Respect that people could have major anxieties driving in such weather. As we left, the road was littered with tree branches.
Never going back. Plenty of other wonderful wineries that have exceptional customer service. Skip this one.

Located on the Golden Mile of Prince Edward County, this is a crown jewel of wineries. You can't miss the beautiful purple barn. The grounds are immaculate, and there is plenty of open-air seating for wine tasting. They offer take-out charcuterie and snacks with the wine tasting, provided by their on-site food pairing, which unfortunately we didn't get to try on this visit. Their chardonnays are some of the best in the County, and possibly some of the best I've ever had. We tried a tasting flight of 3 chardonnays, each wonderful with their own different character, but all with that amazing County minerality. It was hard to pick a favourite. Amazing they can get such different wines from the same grapes grown in the same location. Next time we will sample the pinot noir. This is simply a must-stop on your visit to PEC.

I have been coming to the County annually for the past 9 years and this is still one of my favourite wineries for consistently good Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs. On my most recent trip, it was still kind of chilly, so we sat inside their tasting room. It's a very cozy, inviting space and they were super welcoming towards our pup - even giving her a little treat :) If you do a tasting, you get 10% off whatever bottles you purchase. I found the staff here knowledgable and kind. Don't forget to snap your pic in front of their distinctive purple barn!

The vineyard with a purple barn. It was busy and had a decent size line. Was a very popular tourist spot.
Garden was great and definite nice spot to relax at.
Wines were okay.

Would happily visit to just chill in the garden provided there is not a long wait time.

We stopped in here on a beautiful fall day and enjoyed a flight of wines each. We were a little skeptical about what our experience would be like when we came across the big purple barn, but don't let that fool you. Because there was no food available for purchase we were allowed to set up our own little mini picnic in the garden. Enjoyed the atmosphere and the quiet. We had some interesting conversations regarding the vineyards and their production with our server, which is always appreciated as it is always a learning experience we are after. Wine was purchased! We would definitely return and recommend.

Such a delightful way to end our Saturday afternoon in The County, we popped by Closson Chase. We were seated at a lovely table outside on the patio, and greeted warmly by Cassidy. Let's just start by saying experiences are our thing, and Cassidy was on point to help us enjoy our afternoon. She was fun, energetic, charismatic and knowledgeable and added to our experience. We were a group of 8, and she was easy to work with and attentive without being pushy or making us feel rushed. We know she is headed off to new adventures and we all wish her well. Cheers from Red Scarf, Fuzzy Hat Girl, Southern Bell, Green Queen, Santa Clause 2, Four Eyes, Silent but Deadly & Baby Spice. We wish you all the best

We signed up for a wine tasting. It was a lot of fun. Then we went and sat out on the patio to enjoy the beautiful scenery. The service was very friendly and welcoming. I would recommend a visit.
