Hinterland is a must visit in PEC. We stopped in on our girls weekend. The bubbles this year are especially excellent, but what really made the visit great was the staff, specifically Deanna. Her knowledge of wine is second to none, she is like an encyclopedia of local wine history and facts. We all left satisfied and with an unexpected but welcome expert education on wine and wine making. Thanks Deanna, you're a peach.

Pretty location and a modern take on a winery. Is it a trendy/hip winery for the young people looking for some instagram pictures. Wine was fine! Would recommend Huff and Sandbanks over it.

Everyone said that this place had some of the best sparkling wines and ciders. They weren’t wrong but the service could have been friendlier. Washroom was incredibly clean and cute and the outdoor setup was perfect...

Staff were all wearing masks and disinfecting the tables after each group. Skip the cherry cider unless you like overly fermented ciders.

We went on Monday Sept 21 for a tasting. Tasting area was outside under shade. They made a good effort at sanitizing and ensuring people were wearing masks and provided hand sanitizers. Overall, we felt safe from COVID-19 infection.

We tried both offered wine tasting options: a flight of two traditional method sparkling wines (Les Etoiles and a Rosé) and a flight of three other sparkling wines wines (the charmat Whitecap, the charmat Borealis, and a Cherry Cider). Les Etoiles was crisp, clean, but lacking in character and rather unremarkable. The Rosé was unbalanced and disappointing. We were shocked, though, at the other three offerings. The Whitecap had a slightly bitter, very unpleasant aftertaste -- neither of us could take a sip without making a face. The Borealis was also very poorly done. The worst, however, was the Cherry Cider. To me, it tasted like an infusion of wet gym socks -- it was horrid! We left most of the samples of the last three wines in the glasses when we left -- we couldn't even bring ourselves to swallow them.

We are wine lovers, but not wine snobs by any stretch of the imagination. We have visited many of the local wineries and have never been so disappointed in the quality of the wines we tasted. I was hoping for more, with all the hype around this winery specializing in sparkling wines made using different methods. They just didn't deliver the goods. (And at $10 per tasting, I felt cheated, given the poor quality of the wines.) Perhaps our final reaction is most telling: the first thing we did when we got back to our car was pop some chewing gum into our mouths to get rid of the foul aftertaste from the cherry cider.

On a positive note: Most of the people coming through while we were there sought out the Frozen Peach Bellini they were serving. The serving lady said the white wine component in the drinks was the Whitecap, so I don't know how they tasted. Perhaps it was a cold drink on a warm day, or the sweetness of the peach overwhelmed the bad aftertaste in the Whitecap; regardless, people seemed to enjoy those.

If you are limited in the number of wineries you can visit in the region, I would avoid this one.

Arrived at Hinterland after 3 other wineries. The day had been great leading up to Hinterland. We arrived hoping to do a flight and possibly buy some sparkling. We also planned to enjoy some oysters and other food. We were immediately told that we would not be able to do a flight because it was for reservations only. No one was aroumd except one group, no other options were presented. We were also told there were no food options. We got a glass of sparkling each in plastic cups. Wine glasses were only made available for reservations. Turns out, there was space available online but I guess the staff wasn't interested in offering this option to us. We received the worst service which totally spoiled our visit. Disappointed that this happened and hope management will spend time talking to their team about customer service. I will come back to the county but not here.

We did the sparkling flight, and particularly loved the red cider. The staff are fun, and the space is simple, but pretty.

The sparkling wine here is always great. So well done. The owner did the tasting with our group. The back drop of the old barn is so fitting. Feel very good here. A must when you are in the Picton are.

On the day we visited Hinterland it was very quiet and at the end of summer. That being said I was still completely impressed by the property and can imagine that this is a happening spot in busier times! I love the property and it had a very country vibe to it which I just love! During our visit we did a sparkling wine flight which I really enjoyed! I really wanted to try the frose but that's for next time!! I'll be back Hinterland!!
