With all the effort and the money you put in to reach the village from Labuan Bajo and then take a boat to the cave I would not suggest going there until you have extra days in your itinerary at Labuan Bajo.
The cab takes around 500k to the village and 200k for the boat which is 15 min boat ride each side.
If you are not going there for swimming then no use of going as you will hardly spend 15-2 mins in the cave as there is nothing much to see. The cave itself is dark and extremely slippery. I will not suggest going here with kids.

The starting point is from a Harbour (please pick Dermaga Cinta) to go to the Rangko Cave. The trip is about 10 min. Just go and ask the fisherman or the boat owner! If you go through a third party person (calo), you will be charged double. I got Mr. Jainudin (picture attached) and he is so nice. If you're 2 person, the fee will be 100k/person. If you're are 5 persons, it will be total 350k. More persons will be cheaper each. The cave is unique. We need to walk down and we can swim. Recommended if you want to see a different experience in Bajo.

This was a lovely find. After a short boat trip out to the cave costing about £10 for four of us on a small private hire, we arrived at the cave. There was a small admission fee and we took a guide (for tips) who walked us to the cave. Once inside the rocks down to the swimming area were extremely slippery. Once down at the bottom it was a wonderful place to swim. As the afternoon sun moved around, more of the cave was lit up showing the stalactites and beautiful rock formations. There was only one other family here when we visited. Well worth a visit if you like to swim.

Dhevon is a very reliable, friendly guide for Rangko Cave and other destinations from Labuan Bajo. He will drive you to Rangko village and arrange the boat to reach the cave where you can relax in the cool water.
Dhevon also arranged an evening visit to Pulau Kalong to watch thousands of flying foxes fly at dusk (very tranquil) and a fabulous day visiting Padar, Komodo and various beautiful beaches. WhatsApp: +62 813 3737 0614

Short trip to cave. Go through paddock and someone will find you and pay a small charge. Suggest having swim gear on before going and joggers (rough climb in for bare feet).
Take gear into cave and leave as its small and gear is within sight. No obvious threats when we were there.
Pretty good for rubbish in paddock and cave for Indonesia.
Time is best in mid day to afternoon when sun filters through. Warm, crystal clear, a few fish if you have snorkel.

From the street, following the sign indicating the cave you arrive in a parking where boats are waiting to take tourist to the cave on the other sided. I was by myself and they asked me 300 K for the boat ride that seemed ridiculous and I was paying less than 200 K for sleeping. We arranged for 200 K and when I saw another tourist I asked him to share the boat with me. They wanted him to pay 200 K as well, we tried to convince them to let him pay 100 K but there was no way, so we got tired and I just asked for my money back and decided not to go to the cave. After insisting they gave me only 150 K that is unbelievable in my opinion cause they basically steal my money. Very bad experience after all

A hidden gem! Was definitely worth visiting. Crystal blue water. Steps into the cave are quite slippery so sand shoes are ideal if you are planning to visit. The boat over took roughly 20 minutes and cost $30 return.

our visit was in low season and so only one other couple of people there at the same time - and in fact we had it to ourselves for most of the time. The water doesn't look like the pictures! Its dark and a relatively steep and slippery last few metres to access the water, which is refreshingly cool. I can only imagine the chaos in a busier time of year!
We also stopped for a quick snorkel at the local beach which was fun. Cost was RP500 for the driver to bring us out and back to Labuan Bajo (which was probably at the high end!), 100 each for the boat and 50 each for park fees.

Firstly, our experience of Labuan Bajo is split: The Komodo tours are well defined but the other attractions are a little off the beaten track in comparison - which has its pros and cons of course (pro: not as many tourists, con: not as many amenities). We had agreed with a local taxi driver to do a few local (non Komodo) attractions and Rangko was one of them.
Getting to Rangko cave was interesting - we hopped on a small boat with 2 guys who didn’t speak English. They directed us to the cave and the son came with us, he was very kind to take photos of us. We went during the afternoon and there happened to be a few others there as well. Looking at the sign in sheet they definitely get 15+ visitors a day from all over the world (they make you write your nationality), so this is definitely a tourist attraction. The cave itself is very hot and the water is cooler. It’s pleasant to swim in the water and spend some time there.
There isn’t much around the cave, so you’re essentially taking a small boat across purely to visit the cave and have a swim. A good place to visit though if you want to explore western Flores.

We had such a great experience going to the cave. Picked up
from our accomodation at 2.00pm by Luis and his driver. We were 12 people in total. The drive from Labuan Bajo to the small fishing village where we caught a small boat to the cave. Both places had toilets and change room for a small donation. The walk to the cave was a medium up hill trek that took about 15 minutes. As you approached the swimming area of the cave the ground was wet and slippery. Advice… wear reef shoes and enjoy. This is a great experience as the water in the cave is special
