I got here almost 4 pm when the tide is low. You can see fishes from the harbor where the water is very clear. Star fishes are all over the whitey sand beach.
The small island is also equipped with restaurants and resort.
Came to Kanawa island as part of a 2days 1night tour. Very beautiful island and beach. Water is clear and very shallow, many fishes and starfishes, bring your mask and tuba! However careful with a particular type of white fish (i think it is called...More
Kanawa Island was by far the highlight of my trip to Labuanbajo, it’s phenomenal for snorkelling with clear water and plenty of fish. A wide variety of species such as reef fish to the occasional shark and Ray. The only things to watch out for...More
It was our first stop after LBJ, and a beautiful introduction to the park. The corals and the fishes may be among the most beautiful in the park but it's still impressive and pleasant.

Frankly, by traveling that far, I'd suggest just taking the tour ( or just hanging out on the beach, we saw Komodos on the beach, not the tour of the park). It's a long boat ride to only see two spots (at least add in more stops for the same price, I'm sure you can get a guide to throw more in, also you'll be going with a group and they'll probably have a longer itinerary than Padar and Pink Beach).
As for guides, you can walk around when you get there and find reputable ones. It cost 400,000 Rupiah/ per person for a full-day tour to Padar, Komodo National Park, Pink Peach and Manta Point with lunch, snacks and water ( Komodo park fee was NOT included)
