Quiet in the winter

Great place for a snow shoe or a walk in the winter. Happened to go when the resorts were closed and really nice because it was quiet.

Wow! The view's are awesome. I got some fantastic pictures on this hike. I went by myself, and at my own pace. I was hunting waterfalls. This trail is very popular with extreme mountain bikers... extreme being the key word here. I hiked up, and up... the trail just keeps going up. I thought I was going to die! I'm... More

If you can find a place to stash your car (entrance to park is closed in winter), this is a great central location to walk in a few hundred feet and do a little sledding in the snow.

The Tahoe Rim Trail is easily accessed by Van Sickle. The park is very close to Fire and Ice which is a perfect spot for lunch after a hike.

The Heavenly Cable Car wasn't in service when I was there, they were getting it ready for the Winter Season. Another tourist suggested I go here and do the walks, so Very Pleased I took their advice. Once your elevated a little, there are Great views of the Lake, Lake Tahoe and beyond. Further in the best bit - Peace,... More

We enjoyed a beautiful Autumn afternoon hiking up to a small, hidden waterfall. The trail winds through pines highlighted by flashes of yellow groves of (ash?) trees. The rim trail is well marked and suitable for moderately fit hikers. We hiked about 7 miles, leaving from the Stardust Lodge. There are paths to shorten or lengthen your hike.

Great hike along the trails just below Heavenly. Very peaceful among the trees and nature, easy trail which leads to another trail which will take you further up the mountain. Hopefully will do that trail next time around

What a great find close to our Hotel in South Lake Tahoe. Terrific hiking trails with great views of the lake and access to the Tahoe rim trail as well. Definitely a little elevation particularly for those of us from back east but a lot of fun and a nice reward one you get back to the great places to... More

Nice fairly easy hiking trail, beautiful scenery! There were quite a few of us, some that had to go a little slower, its an easier trail!

We went in early November so you had to walk-in to the park which added another 20 minutes to the hike. But because it is between seasons the trails are not busy at all. It's a short hike to a overlook of the lake (photo1) but more awesome views await if you continue on the switchback trail to the falls... More
