So beautiful, and you can easily spend a morning or afternoon walking the property. Saw birds galore and some sort of big rodent walking about (maybe rodent is the wrong word, they were friendly and cool looking). My partner and I spent about 3 or 4 hours walking all the various paths and checking out the awesome flowers, trees, and... More

We recently visited Wilson's on a scouting trip for a group visit next year. Well known in botany and birding circles, it is a wonderful garden and reserve you can easily spend a day enjoying. The formal gardens are wonderful, and the forest trails are extensive, including one of the few observation towers for birds in all of Costa Rica.... More

I spent a lovely afternoon walking around the garden and jungle paths. The highlight is climbing the new tower to get a bird's eye view. And they have an amazing bamboo cluster. They give you a map, but you have to buy the self-guided walking tours, without which, you won't really know what anything is. Still, a very nice walk... More

The Wilson Botanical Garden is definitely worth a few hours visit to see their collections of ferns, bananas, palms, bromeliads, heliconias, marantas and bamboos, just to mention a few. We saw a few agouti (animals like small capybaras) and there are accommodations if you wish to stay there at the Garden. Since it was rainy season, I would consider making... More

I love the Wilson Garden and have walked its paths dozens of times, as I live a few kilometers away. The vast array of flowering plants, ferns, cycads, palms and trees is magical as there is always something in bloom, or in fruit, or in cone or spore. I never tire of going there, as I can see mid-elevation tropical... More

You can take awesome hikes around the place, where clean and clear trails are waiting for you. Don't forget your camera, and a SD card with enough space, to take thousands of pictures while you are there. You can choose between a short visit watching birds and plants, or spending the whole day with your family enjoying yourselves. If you... More

Wilson Botanical Gardens were beautiful! They have done an amazing job of bringing the magical beauty of the rain forest to the public to enjoy. The trails are well kept and the surrounding jungle and landscaped plants are teaming with exotic birds and gorgeous butterflies. It is well worth the short walk if you are staying at the great little... More

We visited these beautiful gardens in April. Despite it being at the end of the dry season, there were still many beautiful plant species and birds to be seen. The view from the observation tower is amazing.

This is a well-known, popular place for birders. Be sure to reserve a room well ahead of your trip. Birding in the gardens and from the decks is first-rate. There is a canopy tower and the trails are easy and extensive. The food (family-style serving) is excellent, generous and varied. I hope they will print a cookbook some day. They... More

Well worth the long drive to visit this garden. Amazing trees, some palms 40 metres high, Huge stands of bamboo. Didn't see many birds but it was mid afternoon and very hot. Highly recommended;
