Very interesting experience. We arranged a guided tour with the megalithic centre. I think that made it much more interesting and worthwhile than to go alone as there is limited interpretive signage. We learned so much about the site and the history of the area....More

We missed the Neolithic ruins closer to the coast but a helpful young man at the Oldcastle House Hotel suggested this was worthy of a look. Don't forget to pickup the keys beforehand from the Loughcrew Gardens team.

Visited Loughcrew monument and surrounding area. Very enjoyable. Especially enjoyable during early part of morning. Not many tourists, excellent views.

This cairn is open in the summer and contains good examples of rock art. The young man, Andrew, who was the attendant was a mine of information about this cairn and others. Not for the unfit or those with walking difficulties.

This less visited complex of 30 + tombs stretching across 4 hills and is accessed via a free car park and easy climb up a grass covered hill. The main attraction is Cairn T which is entered through a narrow passage which really only allows...More

Loughcrew is situated on a high hill and on climbing gives a dominating 360° view for at least 40 miles. Road signage leads to a small carpark, where you start up the hill on a path and steps. After a few hundred metres you come...More
