Stunning 360 degree panoramic views, clean, modern, informative, great friendly staff. Small gift shop and ice cream stand too. Great history lessons and gifts too (local). The views and walks are what got me, simply stunning in every way. Here, you can see both sides of New Zealand in one place at one time. Quite cool that way. As someone... More

A great place to visit to get a look into west Auckland walks views and history. You can easily spend 40 mins here and even go on a short or long walk from here or just enjoy the great views while enjoying a yummy danish icecream which is always a favourite with the kids There is a separate area for... I took a walk from Titirangi along the Expedition track and Beveridge Trail to Arataki. The centre is an impressive construction with amazing views over the forest canopy towards Manukau Bay. The displays are well put together: not so much information as to overwhelm, and the downstairs film gives a great introduction to the Waitakerie Range. The plant trail is... More

Lots to see in the visitor centre including a short video. Superb views and walks in the area. There is a small gift shop and coffee shop in the visitor centre and you can also pick up free maps of the area and other things to do.

I took some guests from NSW in the wind and rain. They had just completed a 6 week campervan your around NZ. Both were impressed with the outlook and the information within the centre. Arataki is a place all visitors should see to marval at what we have and take for granted Well worth the short drive!!

We stepped off the plane from SFO to Auckland with 3 jet lagged kids (7, 10, 12), got situated with housing, ate lunch, then drove to the Arataki visitors center for 2hr jaunt. What a perfect way to be welcomed to New Zealand (and work off the Jetlag). Beautiful vista from the look out. Kids enjoyed the brief video +... More

The visitor centre is the ideal place to start any first-time visit to the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park, Aucklands best-kept secret to the West of the city. The visitor centre offers knowledge of the history, topography, flora and fauna of the area, with inter-active and static displays and much to interest visitors of all ages. A small retail area offering... More
