An outstanding setting for a natural burial ground. The site itself is covered in trees and wild flowers, it overlooks the rolling south downs. A stream and pond are in the grounds. It is a large site so although close to a road and railway line they are hardly heard, I was there wandering around the site for two hours... More

Kept driving past Clayton Natural Burial grounds and after my dad passed away 2 years ago I decided to go in and see what this was about. I love the fact that there are no headstones, no marbles and no pretentious things. I love the trees, the meadow flowers and the pond and actually bought a plot there for when... More

Opened in 2008 and all nameplates are carved in wood. Already some are looking weather-beaten - but what a wonderful site to walk round. Pond in the corner and views looking towards Jack & Jill Windmills on the Downs. Surely it won't be too long before the sapling trees planted will look more like a wood. Saw butterflies, dragonflies and... More

This must be the most beautiful and tranquil, unique place for anyone to be laid to rest. It is so pretty, calm and welcomes you in a strange way. My sons funeral was on 1st February. From my first visit, meeting with Karen to the actual day of his Funeral, I couldn't have wished to have chosen a better place for... More

On the day wind swept and damp underfoot but a place to rest at peace and as the year passes so the trees will blossom, the flowers bloom and bird song will heard. We as a family are very happy to have our loved one at rest in this beautiful spot.

I like Clayton Wood. My dear wife's ashes are buried beneath a cherry tree and I find the whole experience of going there comforting and soothing. It's a beautiful location beautifully managed.

From my experience this place is perfect, tranquil with nature all around. At such a sad time the time made things run very smoothly.

I recently went to a funeral here, I did not know this place existed. What a stunning place to say goodbyes and the concept of planting trees is amazing. A lovely natural wood barn for the service overlooking the fabulous grounds and the downs.

Wonderful natural burial site which is bordered by the train line to Brighton but also benefits from the most wonderful view of the downs and the windmill. Found almost by chance as the closest natural burial ground when my husband decided that was what he wanted, not long before his death in 2013. "Services" conducted completely by the family in...
