- Kirsten L12 contributionsSteps into paradiseThis is a wonderful paradise, accessible through public transport from town (bus #227 drops you outside). I spent a couple of hours here enjoying the trees and the rushing water. Best if you can get a map and/or talk to a ranger about which trails to take. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that for many of the hikes, there are a lot of stairs up and down (96 steps for one ascent), which may not be for everyone. Otherwise, the trails are well marked and extremely well maintained. A lovely paradise not far from the city.Visited April 2023Travelled soloWritten April 13, 2023
- Katie MWellington, New Zealand43 contributionsWorth the visitWe had a great time at the Lynn Canyon Park. We were there between 9am and 11am and it wasn't too busy on the bridge and trails. I thought that the parking was really reasonably priced too. We would recommend visiting unless you are worried about dogs... a lot of people don't have their dogs leashed despite this being a requirement.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten April 15, 2023
- Trip1313Midland, Canada48 contributionsNot to be missed!Wonderful hiking spot!!!!! The forest felt magical - the waterfalls are gorgeous - just an amazing place. We walked from the suspension bridge to Twin Falls - the stairs going back up were a bit of a challenge but slow and steady. Wished we had more time to explore the other trails.Visited April 2023Written April 22, 2023
- russem00720 contributionsBeautiful North VancouverWe went on a great walk to Rice Lake that included crossing a suspension bridge. The forest is full of moss, beautiful trees and crystal clear water. The paths are well maintained. Lots of stairs but well worth the effort! Cafe was lovely and warm. Was great to sit by the fire and have a warm drink and pastry.Visited April 2023Written April 22, 2023
- Steven M65 contributionsA beautiful and tranquil part of VancouverThis was a very beautiful, well structured walk. Good car park and facilities and the boardwalks were well looked after. Steep climbs are a challenge, but lots of opportunities to stop and take pictures.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten May 9, 2023
- Elisabeth R3 contributionsGreat ParkWonderful park. Busy but we did find parking easily. We liked the hike, the waterfall, the park and yes, the suspension bridge which is very sturdy if not an adventure. Well-kept park, wilderness but easy to find our ways along the trails. good maps. a beauty! and freeVisited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten July 7, 2023
- Gwen HPortland, Oregon226 contributionsLovely day in nature in Vancouver! Our friend in the know said we should arrive early, which we did. The parking lots were still quite full, and we were lucky to get the last spot. When we left a few hours later, there were people standing next to our car stalking our spot. It was THAT crowded on Canada Day weekend. We loved the hiking, the bridge, and Rice Lake. It was quite crowded, but we didn't mind. There is plenty of room for everyone. The natural beauty of the area is incredible and a great way to enjoy Vancouver. Our group enjoyed an ice cream treat at the snack bar on our way out and a quick visit into the nature center to buy a postcard.Visited July 2023Travelled with friendsWritten July 22, 2023
- Traveler83485812 contributionsBeautiful sceneryWe enjoyed this much more than Capinlano Suspension Bridge. The bridge is very sturdy and less fearful for me. The trails around the area are well cared for. There are many stairs on trail so beware. The scenery and colors of the water are worth the effort of hiking. We also enjoyed the restaurant and bathroom facilities.Visited July 2023Written July 25, 2023
- deepakgupta5Vancouver, Canada601 contributionsLovely park in North VancouverThis is a beautiful forest for hiking. The suspension bridge can be quite busy, so do try out the multiple trails further from the bridge. Some trails have quite a few stairs and that can be quite strenuous if you are not used to hiking but it is overall quite a simple trail. The waterfalls views are gorgeous and there are quite a few waterfalls hereVisited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten August 1, 2023
- davjacannSulphur, Louisiana8 contributionsWonderful parkThis was a beautiful park. It was the perfect place for hiking and taking in the views. The glacier-fed lagoon was gorgeous—albeit crowded, but stepping 100 yards away into the forest was so quiet, you could hear a pin drop! This was our favorite place in Vancouver.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten August 17, 2023

This free, 600 acre park offers a number of experiences: a suspension bridge, many walking trails (short or long and of varying difficulty), waterfalls, swimming holes and picnic areas. The trails through the lush forest are clear and easy to follow with the map. The river provides a tranquil spot to sit for a while on the boulders. We had our lunch here, accompanied by Douglas Fir squirrels! The area seemed popular with locals and tourists alike. Amenities included toilets, ample parking, and Lynn Canyon Cafe. It was easy to reach the park using public transport from Vancouver city.

This place is absolutely gorgeous. It is moderately strenuous, more so than I expected. There is no entrance fee and the scenery is beautiful!

We took bus#227 from Phibbs Exchange Bay 10 (temporary Exchange) to Lynn Canyon Park. Alight at Duva Road and walk backwards for about 500m to the entrance. It was a Friday and it was not very crowded but there was a logjam at the 50m suspension bridge.
We hiked for about 3 hours and along the trails met many lovely dogs 🐕 with their friendly owners 😀. The Baden Powell Trail is listed as an intermediate trek and there are other trails such as Sky to Sea Trail etc.
There are some café/shops at the start near the suspension bridge but the food are overpriced.
It's an enjoyable hike as I believe compared to Capilano Suspension Bridge, it is much less crowded.

Free swing bridge and lovely trails. Have done the Lynn Canyon bridge trail many times. Have also done the Lynn loop hike. It’s free and parking is easy. Don’t go on a weekend if you have a choice it gets very busy!

Gorgeous hike, preferred this over Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. Gets busy on weekends - get there early. LOTS of stairs but very much worth it.

Hi. We are from Australia and going to be in Vancouver in late October next year. This looks like great pace to visit. I will be 76 by then so need to know how strenuous the walk is. Even just the first couple of kilometres. Will it be cold then?
Jenn M
Vancouver, Canada43 contributions
Sorry, I hadn't checked my emails. Mid-October does start getting cool but we have had some shifts in our climate. It's still cooler now in March. I think layering is a good way to ensure adequate weather but if it's rainy, then it's muddy. We don't see snow that early usually and wearing good shoes with strong ankle support is helpful. A good walking stick or Nordic trekking poles is nice too. Glad you can come.

We will be staying "downtown" in Vancouver near the library, how would we get to Lynn Canyon. We would appreciate any other ideas about any other free attractions accessible by public transport.

Yes public transportation will take you there! Enjoy the sea bus across the inlet and follow the people up to the buses. Take a Lynn Valley bus! Sorry not sure of the number! A bit of a walk when you get off, but worth it! I have noticed there are many tourists just now so you will not get lost! Enjoy the area! It’s beautiful!

If we go here in September should we be aware of bears? I am a bit nervous of encountering one.

Did not see any in April. They would be around after hibernation. Park is well maintained and park employees are around and did not see any trash that would attract them. To be shure please check with BC parks department.

June can still be chilly in Lynn Canyon, because it's shaded . The water is icy cold all year, but refreshing on a hot August day. Carry a jacket and water regardless.

Hi! I will be staying downtown Vancouver in May and would like to visit Lynn Canyon with my family. Sine we would not be having a car was wondering what would be the best way to travel from downtown Vancouver to Lynn Canyon.

Hello, I suggest you walk to the Seabus at Canada Place. It will take you to the Lonsdale Quay in North Van. There you will have the choice of catching a bus to the area ( Lynn Valley bus) and walking several blocks to the Canyon entrance
or catching a waiting taxi who will take you right to the entrance. Please be sure not to let any of your family try jumping from the huge rocks into the waters below - they can be deadly...! This is a very natural area. Only the Ecology Centre and a very small cafe are within the park. Remember to take bottled waters with you and enjoy!

Hello
Is the park trail and bridge actually open only 12-4? Or is this the Ecology center hours?
Also what is the fastest, cheapest way to get to the park from Downtown City Center by public transportation?

Hours June to September are 10 am to 5 pm and October to May from 12 pm to 4 pm. Buy a day pass and take the Seabus from Waterfront Station to Lonsdale Quay. After passing the gates walk across the street to Bay 5 for Bus 228. Stop at number 54185 for Lynn Valley Rd. at Peters Rd. After exiting the bus walk north and make a right at Peters Rd. You will see a sign to Lynn Canyon Park.
