My boyfriend really liked this park, but in all honesty it's a lot of empty fields and some walking trails with ordinary looking trees. Not really that interesting, but if you live in this city with not much to do... Why not? Also, if you like peaceful walking trails that pose no difficulty, it's cool as well. I've seen better water ponds/rivers in my life.
P.S. I accidentally went in during the weekend with my boyfriend without getting ticket'd- because we walked in. I think you'll be dinged with a fee if you drive in. But since my boyfriend and I found a walking trail through the park, we avoided fees... lol

This conservation park is located in Markham. You pay $4.50 for adults and $3.50 for seniors and 15 and under it’s free. The park is huge. And there’s two parking lots. The second lot is further down and much larger. The first one your parking on grass and dirt road. There’s picnic benches and areas near both parking lots. You can only use charcoal barbecues and no alcohol allowed in the park. There’s lots of cemented paths and bridges. I counted 6 bridges. We walked a half hour to 45 minutes from the first parking lot to the dam.
I liked all the wild flowers, wetlands and forests. It’s a great escape from the noisy city.

Nice clean area, lots of tables and benches to rest or eat at. Always busy, good for family walks, bike rides, and running trails. Can skate on the pond in the winter, pretty views in the fall. Good area to go for walks or hikes especially during Covid!

I went there last weekend at the temperature -9c. The lake was frozen and people are doing skating, hokey on the lake. You can walk on the lake from the Conservation Park to the suspension bridge. It was quite beautiful. There were also nice spots for tobogganing. It was a fun afternoon for your family since we are all stuck at home during the pandemic. Now I am not sure if you are supposed to go out with friends although I saw groups of young people doing hokey shoot around.

During our COVID 19 lockdown and other alerts, we were looking for a place with space and for my kids to run around and have fun. A friend mentioned Milne Dam Conservation Park as a place we can go and have some fun without worrying about crowds. I had been to this park before, and it just slipped my mind about it. I packed up the kids, got some pizza from Little Ceasars, and went there for a picnic.
The park is huge and although we were intimidated by all the cars being there, we were surprised to find how spacious the park was. Despite the fact that there were many people there, there was so much room for us to be safe and be physically distanced from other people. We found a few empty picnic tables by the water and had a nice lunch under a tree with lots of shade. It was a warm early fall day and the trees had yet to start turning colour.
Once we finished our picnic we spent the rest of our visit exploring the park. There are trails and marked paths all over the park and in the woods as well. We explored all afternoon and had a great time. We needed to burn all those calories after a pizza lunch.
The park itself is very clean, well maintained, and for the most part, the restrooms were clean as well. There is a fee to enter the park which only cost us around four dollars. There are a few different parking lots and parking is available and since cars are coming and going, we were able to easily find a parking spot within minutes of arriving. The overall experience was amazing and the kids had a great time. I highly recommend this park.

Visited this beautiful park and dam. Very impressed - clean, peaceful with lots of amenties. Perfect for families and anyone who loves the outdoors. Whether you are exercising, meditating, or just having a nice picnic, it is just the place to go. So happy for the bridge and comfortable walking pathways. Highly recommend.

Milne Park is not only close by but it is well kept. Love to go there and take a small picnic. The atmosphere is serene and peaceful. The pond is very calming. although I had an incident there summer time. When my son just bought a canoe, we went there and some man kept waving to us as he had got his line stuck in the pond. I tried to ignore but my husband kept urging me to help, soo we rowed out to help. Then when I tried to pull the line free, I overbalanced and we capsized. People ran to help us in 2 - 3 ft feet of water. Ha ha! So much for excitement in Milne Park. Not to mention the thick guck we fell into. What a big mess. As we live nearby my son had to go get me towels clothes and shoes. Wish there was a shower.

Would like to know if there is a kayak launching area around here to access the rouge river

The Dam causes the Milne Pond to be cut off, so there is no causeway to the Rouge River.

Is there any entrance fee or any cost? Need reservation for BBQ? Thanks in advance

There is no entrance fee. No need to reserve if there's nothing happening in terms of events in the city or park. Have fun.
Can we do kayaking in the waters

I probably would not. Although a great place to walk around, I wouldn't trust the water.

Can you fish at the park? Is there a permit required other than the outdoors card?

Can I bring and use a bicycle here?
victorcyho

Yes you can. There is no designated bike path, but you can ride it here. The foot path is wide enough and honestly people are friendly here, so they do not mind shifting over for you to pass.

Has anyone ever visited in winter (december)? Is it still scenic or worthwhile?
Cynthia H

Yes, it is used quite a bit during winter for hiking, walking, biking, etc. With snow it is pretty and you tend to be able to see more of the wildlife with the snow as a backdrop.

where is the dam located? and where do I park near the dam? I understand you can fish there? or where do you normally fish in this park? Thanks.

This conservation park is man made. The dam is located at the North East corner of the park. If you want to park close to dam suggest you go to Princess street off Markham Road, to the end of the road. Or off Milne Lane which is off Hwy 7 and Milne Lane. Yes you can fish there in the summer time if the water is up. Last year the water table was very low. No fee to access park in winter but from May holiday weekend to Thanksgiving, you can enter free Monday to Friday and pay on weekend and Holiday mondays.
