A first class operation run by really nice people! Glen Valley stables does everything right - from the moment you contact them you know you are in good hands. Their horses are well cared for and exceptionally well behaved/trained. As beginner riders our group of 7 felt completely safe and every-one enjoyed our 1.5 hour ride. We are all still laughing and talking about our ride and looking back on our photos with great fondness. I have a feeling we'll be back again before the Summer's done.

Today, I rode through Campbell Park in Langley with Joanne of Glen Valley Stables. My horse Traveler and his buddies were in good shape, so too was the tack. Even though a wet snow was falling, we set out into the beauty of the natural landscape. We moseyed along the trails, occasionally trotting our mounts. Joanne and one of her guides, Alison, were both kind spirits. Joanne even lent me a pair of chaps. It was a fun, adventurous, and of course memorable ride, one I hope to do again in the near future. It was a first-rate experience that I would recommend for anyone wanting to get out for a ride in the Vancouver/Lower Mainland.

Thank you for your generous review! We're glad you enjoyed your ride so much and noticed the good condition of our horses - they do such a good job for us and we're very proud of them. We look forward to seeing you in the saddle again, hopefully without the snow next time!

Our guide was all set for our scheduled time of arrival. The horses selected were perfect matches for our age and experience. Both horses were healthy and well cared for & tack was appropriate and in excellent condition. Check in was a breeze and we were underway. The trails are in the adjacent regional park, a lovely heavily wooded area, spectacular this time of year with the autumn colours. Very pleased with the entire experience. Horses are well trained and have excellent dispositions.

My wife and I came up from Seattle for a few day trip and went out on the Quiet Creek Trail Ride 1.5 hour trail ride and had a great time. Our guide was Bob and he was great to ride with friendly and talkative.

Love how this ride also seemed to change environment as one moment you would be in a normal forest then you would turn the corner and be all in pines or cedar and at some points even along a meadow full of yell flowers. We stayed in Langley and from there to the ride location it took about 15 minutes or so and about the same to the US border.

We'll definitely be back for more rides if when we travel north again!

Our family had a wonderful experience today. Our guide, Gene, was very knowledgeable and was patient with me as a new rider. I was honoured to ride Freckles, he was calm and followed the guide. I will definitely come back again. Two thumbs up!

Quite an embarrassment for me to have brought my boyfriend for our valentines ride at GLEN valley stables.....I know we were a few mins late but upon showing up, there was no greeting and no introduction to who he was and not giving a s$%t who we were, it was quite a disappointing start to our ride. He just kind of had this pissed off look on his face like he hated us already, got us to sign our waiver and got us to mount our horses. The ride and view itself through Campbell Valley Park was awesome since we are from Vancouver and we don't have any trails like that in Vancouver, I thought it would've been fun to get to ride through a park and yes, it was great! But the guide was not welcoming at all. Exactly like what someone else wrote in their post, he is completely - ANTISOCIAL. I felt like it was a "get on my horses and ride behind me so I can make a few $$$$ off of this ride without having to talk to you guys at all" type of ride. I don't recommend this ride at all to anyone unless you are with a group of other people. It was awkward through most of the ride as we have been to Sundance Guest Ranch 5 years in a row and all their wranglers are great!!! Unfortunately I am quite embarrassed how this ride went and i hate answering when friends and family ask about it! I gave him the benefit of a doubt and thought he would've been different during our ride, but NO , he just seemed as bitter as ever since our arrival. Sorry for this brutally honest post, but just wanted everyone to know what you are in for if you ride with...GLEN..... :)

Hi Jackie - I'm so sorry your Valentine's ride wasn't all you'd hoped it would be. Gene always makes sure his guests are safely mounted on good horses and that their ride will be great but he is an old cowboy (a genuine one!) and isn't always talkative, though he is always polite. I asked him about your ride and he said he thought the two of you wanted to talk to each other so he didn't interject. He also said wanted to get you into the saddle as efficiently as possible as he was expecting another ride after yours and wanted to be back in time to greet them (we always allow a half hour between rides, as we ask our guests to arrive 15 minutes early). Thank you so much for choosing Glen Valley Stables and we genuinely hope to see you in the saddle again! Cheers, Joanne

We had Gene as our guide and it was the worst experience of our lives. He was actually breaking in a horse on our ride
! The horse was very afraid of things like leaves. Gene was actually using his spurs to break the horse. This was a nice friendly ride and we have this "lead" trying to break in his horse. My young daughter was behind him. I have never experienced a ride like this before. He is unsafe and totally antisocial. Do not go to this place. We are very good riders and have ridden trails everywhere. This was insanely bad.

Dear Betty, I am so sorry that the email I sent you two days ago in immediate response to your complaint did not satisfy you. I am posting our apology to you again in this public forum, and again I offer you a free ride with a different guide, should you choose to accept. As I wrote in my email to you and your family, we are very proud of our horses and our service here at Glen Valley Stables and take any complaint very seriously. Your is not the experience we want our guests to have. I will make this same offer, and will post the same response, to your other family member's review that was also filed on July 30 in response to the same ride. Here is the email I sent you, dated July 30, sent at 7:57pm: Thank you very much for taking the time to send us your thoughts. We truly value the opinions of all our guests and I am very sorry that we did not meet your expectations. We sincerely apologize. Providing our guests with the best possible riding experience is always our goal. Yours is not the experience we like our guests to have. In light of this, please accept a free ride for the four of you with a different guide. Thank you again for taking the time to send us your thoughts. We hope that to have the opportunity to change your mind. Kind regards, Joanne Joanne Braithwaite Glen Valley Stables

Hi we just had a ride with Gene today and wanted to voice our concerns. Gene took us on a ride while training a new horse. His horse kept bucking and acting up, right next to our 9 year old daughter. We tried telling Gene to stop doing what he was doing but he wouldn't listen to us. It was causing all of our horses to act up, go sideways etc.. Actually whatever we said to Gene was met with dismissal.

I'm sure he'll blame us and say something like we're just "city folk" but in all of our years and countless trail rides with others we have never had such a terrible experience as the one we just had with Gene.

Gene made our 9 year old daughter scared and fearful while at the same time he neglected the rest of us on the ride. One of our saddles was loose and went crooked but again Gene dismissed us saying she just needed to lean to one side more. This was a woman who was raised on a horse farm and knows her stuff but still she was treated like an outsider who didn't know anything.

Seriously, this was the worst ride of our lives and we hope that he never takes anyone for that sort of ride again.

Training a bucking horse while taking inexperienced riders including a 9 year old who was up front for a simple trail ride is downright wrong and dangerous.

My husband booked a trail ride with Glen Valley stables in Langley for our family of four for our daughter's 12th birthday. We were outraged when they didn't show up. We booked our ride four days in advance and the date and time was confirmed by the company. My daughter was heartbroken sitting in the parking lot waiting in anticipation realizing that her birthday event wasn't going to happen after waiting 45 minutes and no communication from the company until an hour and a half after our scheduled ride.

In their texted apology they stated that they had booked it in for the same date for the following month...which makes absolutely no sense as they had already confirmed our month AND date via text in black and white. It is impossible to get this company on the phone as they don't answer it so you must leave a message. In hindsight, I'm glad that my husband chose to book via text as we have proof of the communication that happened. My husband left a message with them to call him (after such an inexcusable apology) and well...we are still waiting several days later. I'm extremely shocked at this company's lack of business sense as my daughter is part of the riding community here so this doesn't bode well for the importance of word of mouth influence.

My strong advice is to NOT book with this company. Whether it's for a special occasion or for an every day outing. You cannot trust this company to follow through on their bookings or do the right thing when they make a mistake. There are other trail ride companies in Langley that we have ridden with that are far superior.
