Really beautiful jewellery and fossil pieces! The sales person was very well informed. She told us all about the Ammolite mining process and showed us how they make the jewellery. We got to see some things they were currently working on in their workshop too. Definitely worth a visit!

This was an excellent, informative and riveting tour that enthralled us. The lady knew her subject and yet could impart the details in a way understandably and enjoyable by everyone. We learned a whole lot of stuff we didn't know and came away with a great understanding and love of the product. I would recommend this activity to everyone of all ages. Time very well spent.

Elizabeth and Christine gave us a very interesting and informative tour of the factory. There was 4 people in our group and Christine offered to give us a tour as soon as we arrived. The jewelry is beautiful and creative and we were impressed with the artwork it was very unique using the ammonite gems. The displays were very informative also with a very comprehensive explanation of the mining and process to create the stone.
Definitely worth taking a tour.

I read about the Ammonite Factory tour in a local magazine and decided to visit while exploring the Canmore area. The store has displays of the precious stone and a tour was given by a very knowledgeable woman who explained the history of stone development, discussed the uniqueness and various colorations, and reviewed the processing involved. It is not what one normally thinks of a factory, but rather a showroom and work area. An hour can be spent if interested. A young man at the store made suggestions regarding sites around town.

Being interested in lapidary arts I had to stop in at the Ammonite Factory. Some of the specimens they have are over the top and the prices are too. Still if you're interested in gemstones, lapidary or fossils it's worth a stop.

The factory is relatively small but the tour we took was just fascinating! Learned a lot about the ammonite and the gem ammolite. The shop has some beautiful jewelry pieces and the ammonite fossil pieces. A must see if you are in the area.

As a lapidarist and rockhound I regretted not coming here 2 years ago when we were in Banff. I'm fascinated by the ammolite fossils, and made sure to include a visit here this trip.I was hoping to see how the ammonites were processed as a whole piece, but that wasn't available. The info on the tour was interesting to me as a rockhound and the pieces are beautiful as I already knew. The person giving the tour was well informed and pleasant. I wanted to pick out a nice fossil example to purchase and the salesperson was extremely patient and helpful and came up with the perfect specimen for me to take home. I even found a very nice pendant for my partner.

Ammonite Factory & Show Room is amazing. The factory show room is free to browse, but a small fee is charged for the tour, which is well worth it.
It is best to call for reservations so you make sure you can have the guided tour. The Factory Outlet overlooks the Safeway Grocery Store in the same plaza so it is easy to find. Starbucks is in the same plaza. Just ask & you will be directed easily to the Ammonite Outlet.
Now any tour is only as good as the guide. We arrived almost an hour before our scheduled tour and got to hear one guide, and then got to hear a second who led our tour. Both women were outstanding guides who had their own style and covered the material from different view points.
The Showroom is filled with stunningly beautiful jewellery and mineral specimens, which can be pricey. Ask to see what is in the drawers against the wall where you can buy smaller less expensive pieces of Ammonite to take home. I was able to buy a small pendant, an unset polish piece and an actual ammonite fossil.
I was happy when I discovered the cabinet drawers with all the less expensive but equality exquiste pieces.

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your experience at our Ammonite Factory. All our tours are complimentary, and are offered twice daily, except Sunday. We hope you will continue to enjoy your special purchases as we do pride ourselves on offering a complete spectrum of prices for all who visit. And yes, the 'treasure chest' of drawers always has an intriguing selection of ammolite.
Thanks for visiting!
