I attended the, AST 1 course, led by Pancho from Paramount Guides at Nakiska Ski Resort. He is a great instructor that communicates clearly and enthusiastically. The course was very informative and Pancho included a lot of great videos to help visual learners. The time spent on snow really helped to reinforce all the theory we learnt on the first day. It was great to run through drills as a team! I would really recommend booking courses with Paramount Guides!

Paramount Guides provided exceptional avalanche safety training! Francisco is highly knowledgeable, making complex topics easy to understand. The course was comprehensive, covering snow analysis to rescue methods. Practical exercises boosted confidence in real-life scenarios. Highly recommended for anyone venturing into avalanche terrain!

Such a highlight of my trip! I had a really excellent time climbing with my Dad! Francisco was a very good teacher and encouraged us and helped us do climbs that were challenging but still at our skill level. Kathryn and Francisco were both super accommodating to our needs and super friendly!! I definitely recommend to anyone who is feeling adventurous!

My daughter (18) and I spent 4 glorious days around Kananaskis, AB with Francisco and had an amazing time hiking and rock climbing. Francisco shared some incredible adventure stories with us and he developed a fantastic rapport with my daughter. Even in bear country we never worried as Francisco was always on alert and made my daughter feel very safe. Highly recommended and we look forward to our next adventure with Paramount!

WOW! It's hard to hold back tears as I write this. I never thought I could do the things Francisco taught me how to do. I've had guided hikes in the UK before, but this was something else. We scrambled up Heart Mountain in early July. I'd never scrambled before (I thought I had! But now I know I hadn't really) and it was so fun and exciting and scary and something I am going to remember for the rest of my life. Francisco was so knowledgeable and relaxed and calm, he gave us so many little tips and tricks. He wasn't just guiding us, he was teaching us how to hike and how to scramble, how to use our bodies and how to be energy efficient. He also knew heaps about plants and animals. He gave us some excellent tips for other hikes in our skill level for the rest of our holiday in Canmore.

I really can't say enough about how much of a gentle, chill and lovely guy Francisco is. He is funny and kind. He made made what could have been scary experience for me fun and exciting. I laughed so much with absolute joy. I love love loved every minute. I'm so proud of myself that I could push myself beyond what I thought possible, and I fully credit Francisco with showing me what I could do.

Paramount were so easy to deal with, the whole booking process, getting lunches organized, directions etc. Absolute professionals.

All the stars and more. Francisco and Kathryn are both great, down to earth really lovely people and if I am ever back out this way I'll be booking in with them again.

Francisco ran our AST 1 course this week. The course was incredibly insightful and taught with passion. I particularly enjoyed the second day (outdoor), where we were given the opportunity to test what we had learned in the classroom. Searching for buried transceivers, testing snow packs, and understanding the dangers of different terrain. I would highly recommend this course if you are interested in exploring the mountains in any way.

The AST 1 program this week was amazing couldn’t ask for more. Pancho was amazing and so passionate about teaching and told us all about his experiences and travels which was very inspiring. I am so thankful for all the things we learned and I now feel more confident in exploring into the backcountry. All around an amazing two days!

My wife and I were happy with the course. We came away feeling we had a decent understanding of how the experts assessed things and how to use our new Avi gear with some confidence. It was nice to see an instructor so clearly above the content they were teaching. This isn't a formula, this is a guy who clearly knows this stuff as a pro, with stories to back it. If your on the fence then I would take it. I feel better about venturing further and the instructor was great.

Pancho (Francisco) taught my AST 1 and I can't imagine doing it with anyone else. His in class content was very engaging, and he used lots of videos to demonstrate the topics covered. Our field day was a great adventure with a really nice tour up to some moderate terrain where we were able to practice snow science on different slopes and to really learn about the factors influencing the snow pack. Pancho was extremely patient with our group and gave u s many bits of information through out the day.

Did an AST 1 course with Paramount last weekend. Kathryn did an excellent job helping us organize a large group of people.

For the classroom day, Pancho did an amazing job of condensing a lot of information in a very interesting manner. He managed to keep us all engaged for the full classroom day.

For the field day, Pancho was not only insightful, but also very patient with the group. Could not ask for a better instructor.
