I walked a portion of this trail (about 2 km) on September 27, 2020. I enjoyed discovering this pretty little trail through town and it was such a gem!
The trail led along a section of wooden boardwalks through an open grassy area and along the creek on a gravel path through the woods. There were lots of amazing views along the way. It was a very peaceful trail, flat and easy, and a nice place to go for a relaxing walk.

I walked along the boardwalk the other day to see the contrasts between now & last August.
The majority of the creek was frozen over making it and the marshes either side into a winter wonderland. The magnificent Rockies were amplified by the snow and cold temperatures. It wasn’t the cold that took my breath away but the scenery!
I watched some ducks waddling through the snow & eventually finding a spot where the creek wasn’t frozen. It made me laugh to see them heading straight in & going head first under the water in search of food.
The path itself was a bit icy in places but having my YakTrax on my boots made the going easy.

Did this walk in the afternoon of Jan 25 2020. I was surprised the boardwalk wasnt cleared of snow but we managed. I have vision issues so clung on to hubby for safety. Its very pretty. Not too wide and you can end up in a single file when passing other people.

Probably a very nice (albeit extremely short) walk when there are no people around, but stay away from the boardwalk in the summer months due to the massive crowds. We also encountered several people riding bikes and even e-bikes on the boardwalk. Bikes are no allowed on the boardwalk. We just walked down the middle of the trail and accidentally one of the bikes ended up in the swamp. Too funny.

good easy walk to downtown from the Clique hotels. Only about a 10-15 min walk. A little narrow at some spots. After visiting the main street that was blocked off to traffic I would prefer it to Banff for walking and shopping.

Policeman's Creek Boardwalk runs through the town of Canmore. It was on too busy during our October 2022 stay over Thanksgiving. The views are spectacular. It is peaceful and quiet and has lots of areas that you can turn off the path and see other things in town. Would not recommend it at night....would be really dark.

Rain spoiled my plan to head to the Canmore Nordic Centre, so I took a walk in the town instead. Best choice I've made in a while! All of the views with none of the hills. Perfect for this Prairie Girl.

A lovely short trail, which is close to downtown Canmore. This trail is accessible to most and has some lovely views and scenery on the way. It also links up with a few of the other trails, which lead you to the bow river. We decided to use it as part of a loop and walk along the river and then back into the town. Overall a very relaxing walk in Canmore.

A great way to stretch your legs while taking-in the beautiful scenery. This path is right near the centre of town along the river, but there are many different places along the path to access it (and park your car near by).
Great for for kids, strollers, etc. and you can walk as much or as little as you want to.

There is a wide wooden boardwalk that runs alongside Policeman's Creek. One segment is about a half mile, but with no way off unless completing the whole walk. It's a good walking surface that runs along a creek and you can see native plants. It's pretty. I went in winter so no birds and all was frozen, but still pretty, I walked it alone midday and felt safe, passing moms with kids, grandparents with grandkids. There is a bench or two along the way. One entrance is near the new community center in Canmore. It's free. No bathrooms. The boardwalk would be fine for wheelchairs, tho in winter is snow is several inches deep at either entry point, might be hard to get TO the boardwalk.

Can anyone tell me if the beavers are still living in the river here ?
I read that the floods from a few years ago destroyed their homes
that they had built. I have always wanted to see a beaver. I am from
Australia and we don’t have them here. I will be holidaying in Canada
in June this year. Thanks

Hi! Beaver are very resilient and so if the big floods did do some damage, they wouldn't have gone too far and are likely back already. Beaver are quite abundant in Alberta, even within the City limits of Calgary, but the trick is actually seeing them, as they are a bit shy and mainly nocturnal. Many of the City parks have thousands of trees that they have protected against beaver gnawing them down. The Inglewood Bird Sanctuary has them, and they are reviewed here on Tripadvisor. If you can connect with them by phone or email, they may give you some good suggestions as to where and when (likely VERY early a.m.) in Calgary, and other places you can spot them. Ditto any of the Kananaskis Info Centres, and Banff Park too. Cheers!

Is there any parking at/near the Policeman's Creek Boardwalk, including any street parking? I will be travelling to Canmore with a group of motorcyclist in 2018. Sounds like a nice place to stop & stretch our legs for a bit. With thanks in advance for any info you can provide.
