We drove from Canmore-very beautiful drive on Rte 1 east and then south-there is a shorter road but it's partly unpaved and very rough in places. The lake is artificial but looks natural once you get away from the dam. There is a nice trail...More

Great fishing at the penstock between the Upper and Lower Lakes. You can use marshmellows as bait and no problem catching the big ones. Be on the watch for bears though. Any creek/river leading into the lakes have bears where the creek/river opens out to...More

The drive alone is worth going, but for me, getting away from the crowds was awesome too! Heard the hikes are great, but I didn't have time when I stopped

On a good weather day, the hike around the Upper lake is awesome. Not too hilly and some mosquitoes. You can do the full 17km around the lake or hike to the Point campground and back. Park at the Interlakes parking lot. Great views of...More

It's a bit of a drive to get here but totally worth it. This beautiful, peaceful lake is an incredible place to spend the day.

Hike around the lake is relatively easy. Give yourself 5 hours for the loop... that is at a steady pace with a few rest stops. Gorgeous views of the lake and mountains. Wear good shoes and take water and snacks!!!

Beautiful mountains and scenery all around. Great way to cover some ground is to cycle around Canmore and Upper Kananaskis Lake.

I would not recommend it as only the top foot of water is warm ish and close to the shore, even after a very hot summer diving into this lake could be fatal as cold water body shock is very likely,
