The lake and surrounds are beautiful, but the town of Canmore has obviously decided to keep people away. There is no easy way to get there unless in a car & the only possible place to park has a MINIMUM (even for a brief stop) parking charge of $20.00 - more than downtown New York! There is an annual, inexpensive pass - but it’s available to residents of Canmore only. On top of it we did not notice the signs and when we got back to the car had a $45.00 ticket that doubled to $90.00 since we did not pay it in ten days. Canmore has become a playground for the rich who obviously want to keep the regular riff-raff away.

Visited on a rainy day aug 17th. Parking was completely empty. We didn't take more than 30 mins there cause we just went to take pics. It's not a huge space. Would look nice on a sunny day. Easy walking.

We were surprised to find out there now is a $20 fee to park for 4 hours! Parking lot is small for the amount of people who come here on a hot summer day and it fills up fast.

This lake is surrounded with beautiful mountain views. There is a small beach area that is perfect for smaller kids as the water is shallow at the start. There is not a lot of space here though and not easy to find a spot if you don't arrive early. There are big boulders that give you an idea of where the water suddenly gets deep just past them. The water is cold but refreshing on a hot day. The water gets murky fast if many people are in it, it was not clear the day we were there.

There are benches and picnic tables as well, and plenty of spots to spread out around the lake if you don't need to be in a spot that the water is easy to get in and shallow.

We saw a few area's that people were cliff jumping but we didn't try it. Great for paddleboards and floaties.

There are outhouses but no flush toilets or sinks.

This is an area you have to be "bear aware" and they had signed up that bears frequent this area so very important to be mindful of your garbage.

Nice spot to cool off (with stunning views) if you don’t mind the parents who act like it’s their private lake and let their babies and toddlers swim in the nude (or without a swim diaper) and go to the bathroom in the water. One kid wore a diaper, but I watched the grandma change the diaper in the water... and rinse off the child’s dirty butt in the water. As a parent, I can’t imagine being so gross and inconsiderate of others swimming in the same water. Of course, a lot of people leave trash too. As usual, people can ruin a beautiful thing. If your child is not potty-trained, put them in a swim diaper for crying out loud.

This is a beautiful lake surrounded by the open park. Perfect place for a picnic . Has a cycle path too. There is also a trail uphill to the mountains for whomever interested on a hike. There are seating areas.
Suitable for any type of travellers

We did this trek in the evening & it was awesome. Not many people around as it was cold & snowing but we enjoyed it.

An impromptu trip to the lake for a dip on a hot afternoon almost didn't happen. A group of us went up in 2 vehicles, but only one could find a parking spot. There was a constant stream of vehicles coming into and leaving the the parking lot.
The lake was very busy, but still was able to enjoy a refreshing dip in the lakes cool waters. The beach area is very small. If you don't mind setting up on the crunchy grass area, then you will be fine.

Amazing! Visited mid August on a couple of hot days. Yes parking lot is very small and fills up fast. Even with the small parking lot full, there is still plenty of space to spread out if you want space as the entire perimeter of the lake can be used. Great views, dead calm water for paddling, great shallow areas for the little ones and even cliff jumps for the bigger kids.

This is not the summer to visit Quarry Lake. By 9 am the parking lot is full and people start parking on residential streets. Overcrowded and with garbage strewn next to the extra garbage bins that have been installed. Give this a miss until the Town of Canmore decides to start enforcing bylaws and social distancing. The views are still lovely, but that is about it.
