- Moscato-MamaAirdrie, Canada3,347 contributionsBusy but beautifulJune 2021 We were surprised to find out there now is a $20 fee to park for 4 hours! Parking lot is small for the amount of people who come here on a hot summer day and it fills up fast. This lake is surrounded with beautiful mountain views. There is a small beach area that is perfect for smaller kids as the water is shallow at the start. There is not a lot of space here though and not easy to find a spot if you don't arrive early. There are big boulders that give you an idea of where the water suddenly gets deep just past them. The water is cold but refreshing on a hot day. The water gets murky fast if many people are in it, it was not clear the day we were there. There are benches and picnic tables as well, and plenty of spots to spread out around the lake if you don't need to be in a spot that the water is easy to get in and shallow. We saw a few area's that people were cliff jumping but we didn't try it. Great for paddleboards and floaties. There are outhouses but no flush toilets or sinks. This is an area you have to be "bear aware" and they had signed up that bears frequent this area so very important to be mindful of your garbage.Visited June 2021Written July 4, 2021
- nguyenator8 contributionsGreat for entire familyAmazing! Visited mid August on a couple of hot days. Yes parking lot is very small and fills up fast. Even with the small parking lot full, there is still plenty of space to spread out if you want space as the entire perimeter of the lake can be used. Great views, dead calm water for paddling, great shallow areas for the little ones and even cliff jumps for the bigger kids.Visited August 2020Travelled with familyWritten August 19, 2020
- Márcio SantosVancouver, Canada498 contributions360 mountains view from Quarry Lake! This park is wonderful if you lake nature, walk with your kids, family or pets (in the allowed areas)! Even better if you have a blessed and sunny day! From this park is possible to contemplate the wonders and see a 360 mountains view! What else should I say? Just go! It’s really close to Canmore city center. There is parking lot and some desks for small picnics. I would like to have jumped in the beautiful lake waters but it was too could despite the sun! Enjoy!Visited May 2022Travelled with familyWritten June 1, 2022

What a gorgeous lake. Very small to walk around and get to but we took the stroll through town from another parking lot since this place now has paid parking. It is such a beautiful lake. A wonderful trip to take in the morning.

It was available and personnel at the welcome center as we entered Alberta helped to set up the reservations. It did have a gravel pad that campers were required to use. The weeds were two to three feet high everywhere. Hole in the ground outhouse. It was the second day before we found the lake because it was so overgrown. While not well maintained or lush, it was adequate and available!

What a delightful clean and safe mountain lake to spend the afternoon with little ones. The proximity to town makes it a simple jaunt to grab a picnic lunch and enjoy the lake and mountain views.

Great views from this area. Parking is paid at $10. We had a great walk around and though we have no dogs ourselves it was delightful watching the antics of many breeds enjoying the fresh air and freedom.

The most beautiful place I couldn’t believe it. I have been to Canmore many times but was shocked I have never swam here before. Now I can’t visit Canmore without coming here. The views are amazing. But weirded out by the rock boulders in the water to show you where the shallow end is - it’s like a trap where your bound to get injured. But amazing all in all.

The lake and surrounds are beautiful, but the town of Canmore has obviously decided to keep people away. There is no easy way to get there unless in a car & the only possible place to park has a MINIMUM (even for a brief stop) parking charge of $20.00 - more than downtown New York! There is an annual, inexpensive pass - but it’s available to residents of Canmore only. On top of it we did not notice the signs and when we got back to the car had a $45.00 ticket that doubled to $90.00 since we did not pay it in ten days. Canmore has become a playground for the rich who obviously want to keep the regular riff-raff away.

Visited on a rainy day aug 17th. Parking was completely empty. We didn't take more than 30 mins there cause we just went to take pics. It's not a huge space. Would look nice on a sunny day. Easy walking.

Are dogs allowed? On leash of course - we never let our dog off leash.

Only at the dog areas straight ahead and to the right of the parking lot in the large field as well as the pond just the other side of the wooded area at far side of field and accessible by a short trail. Never at Quarry Lake itself!

Were you able to take your dog into the lake? I know it isn't off leash but if kept on a leash is that allowed?

Hi,
Sorry for the late reply, there is absolutely no dogs allowed at Quarry Lake, either on or off leash. There is an off leash area for dogs just adjacent to the lake. Bylaw officers patrol Quarry lake frequently to warn visitors who don't know. It's not worth the potential ticket or the displeasure of locals who have had to leave their own dogs at home to enjoy family time or cooling off dips at Quarry Lake.
