We had a terrific time yesterday, everyone really enjoyed it. The caboose was a great adventure, lots to explore for the kids, and being able to sit up top and watch the scenery go by was wonderful. There was huge excitement when we went over the train bridge. Our Stone Crock cake was not on board so the staff ordered... More

My family and I have been loyal "Santa Train" riders for many years, and have encouraged family and friends to join us. This year we saw a marked decline in the entire experience. We will now actively DISCOURAGE ridership on this holiday journey. The train and its inhabitants were not what we remembered. When we boarded the train at St.... More

We took this volunteer-run train ride from the St.Jacob's Market station to Elmira and back. The round trip took about 2 hours - we did not get off the train in either St.Jacobs or Elmira because of the cold and rainy/snowy weather. The seats on the train were surprisingly comfortable, but it was a little chilly during the ride since... More

Went with family and it was very cold even for fall weather. The train experience is nice , but the carriages are a bit old. Given the unexpected weather , the heating equipment was not turned on and hence the ride was chilly. The volunteers were nice and polite and knowledgeable. Did not take the detours as it was very... Went on the pumpkin patch ride. Honestly, it was pretty boring. There was no overhead PA describing any train history. The ride was fairly mundane like any regular train ride. The "pumpkin patch" was really not a pumpkin patch at all. It was a patch of grass along the way beside the tracks where somebody had just scattered a bunch... More

The route was no way near alot of tree for us to enjoy the color changes. The pumpkin patch stop was actually some pumpkins scatters on the grass literally as we stepped out the train. That was a huge disappointment and very misleading.

My husband I visited this railway recently and had a great time. The volunteers on the train proper were very nice and helpful The highlight of our trip was being able to stop off in Elmira for lunch, ice cream, and shopping. In Elmira, we were met by a tractor and wagon that took us a couple miles into town.... More

The slow train ride through St. Jacobs Village to Elmira was great. Enjoyed the serene countryside and the calming breeze.

Meh. The route isn't that exciting. There is no train station right now, just an ATCO trailer beside a busy road at the market. They no-longer have a stop in Waterloo, which is what I was hoping for. If your kids like trains it would be an ok way to spend a couple hours, but we had no reason to... More

I used to work on this little tourist train, now run by a great group of volunteers. They make you feel welcome and describe the country side. Grat value for your money
