Booked a first time visit to Bamboo and was very pleased with my pedicure. Rachel, my esthetician, was friendly and welcoming. It's such a treat to have a pedicure at a true spa and not a cut rate salon who nickles and dimes you to death. The salon is very clean and well laid out. This was my first visit, but it won't be my last.

A great place to start a mini weekend getaway! Staff were warm and welcoming and the atmosphere is relaxing! Although we could not book the RMT massage, the relaxation equivalent was fantastic. We both came out feeling like all our stress had been washed away !

Anyone needing a momentary escape from the rush of day to day, stop by Bamboo Spa for an Indie Head Massage. Most relaxing 30 minutes a person could ever ask for . Ali gives a wonderful massage in a relaxing soothing environment.
Book an appointment - I promise - you won't be disappointed :)

Terrible owner who sets a bad tone throughout the SPA! However, she is very fortunate to have some of the best estheticians in the entire Midland area!

I have been to many spas in and around the Georgian Bay Area and this was by far the worst experience I've ever had. The older lady with curly hair sitting at the front reception lacked business likecustomer service skills. She didn't seem too polite and acted like all she cared about was the money aspect. She was very cold and unfriendly. It's unfortunate because the massage therapist was very skilled - an amazing massage. Will not be going back any time soon.

Dear BlueJays77:
Wow. Firstly, I would like to say how horribly apologetic I am if in fact you experienced the older lady with the curly hair (me) as rude or money driven. That is certainly NEVER how I want Bamboo Spa or anyone affiliated with the spa to be viewed. Thank you for writing your very first ever review on Tripadvisor about Bamboo Spa, no less than 10 months after your (supposed) visit.
I say that because I have some issues with your review. I did some investigation which you may not have anticipated. You say that you came October 2012, and yet my records for that month show that there are only two clients that came for the first time in that month who were there for the first and only time, and called them both to better understand what I could have possibly done to offend someone so horribly. The one I was able to reach denied that she was the author, and I believed her. Although I was not successful in reaching the second, I was able to determine that I was never even at the spa on the day that the second person visited. I conclude that you do not actually exist, and this review is motivated by something other than a desire to genuinely report your experience. In other words, "BlueJays77" you were in fact never there and this is a bogus "review".
Sincerely,
Kathy Kowalsky & Staff

I had heard many great things about Bamboo spa and was referred by a few people. The esthetician that I was assigned to showed up late for the appointment and was very unprofessional. She was unkempt and behaving hung over, she insulted the way my feet looked and did a terrible pedicure. I felt very uncomfortable there and could not wait to leave.

Dear Dancingirlt:
I have taken some care in preparing a response to your November review of your March 2015 visit. I am very concerned that if you actually did visit our spa and if actually did have the substandard experience that you mention that we did not perform to the high standard of care that we work very hard to maintain.
At Bamboo Spa we treat any review that contains the slightest disappointment very seriously, as an opportunity to learn to do better. Within 24 hours of any client’s visit, an email is automatically sent to the client asking for the client’s reflection on the services received so that any issue that didn't meet up to that client’s liking can be addressed immediately. If you had actually received the treatment as you say, you would know that.
My investigation shows that
1. You are a somewhat prolific reviewer on TripAdvisor. Of your 26 other reviews, you always posted your review within one month of the visit. It took you seven months to write this one.
2. Every other one of our March guests who, like you, had pedicures for the first time has remained a repeat client of Bamboo Spa. Just not you. Every other first time pedicure client, (except for one from out of town) was with our lead aesthetician, and that one left a $20 gratuity.
3. Your handle shows that you are from Midland. Everyone else is clearly happy enough to return, repeatedly. Except you.
The bane of Tripadvisor, especially for highly rated businesses, is that they are the target of this kind of bogus negative reviews on behalf of competitors or other detractors.

I recently had my eyebrows done here, and having had my brows waxed at many locations and after having read the positive reviews for the spa, i was excited to see what it was like. However, altho the eyebrow waxing was very well done, I felt like the lady who took care of me couldn't give me the time of day and she was not very personable. I don't think that i will be going back, which is too bad as the quality and the price are perfect. thank you

Dear Nicole:
Thank you for taking and phone call and talking to me about why your experience wasn't what you expected, nor what we aim to provide. I really appreciate hearing from our clients and it's only by hearing from you and talking that we can make things better. I am thrilled that you are giving us another try as I am certain that we can live up to your expectations. Thanks again and I look forward to seeing you!
Sincerely,
Kathy & Staff

Owner, Gurinder, treated me like a second class citizen.Spoke only to the other clients in the room while she did a manicure on me. Poor manicure. This is day 3 and my nails are chipping and peeling. No top, or bottom coat!! What a waste of money!!

I have been to Bamboo many times for massage therapy and once for a manicure. I did get an email from them several months ago stating that if I wrote a positive review on trip advisor then my name would be entered for a draw. Needless to say, I did not write a review. Having spent a considerable amount the past year for RMT, I was disappointed to see a photo of the owner in the local weekly newspaper had a champagne and strawberry gala for Bamboo patrons and I wasn't notified. The manicure I had was fine, nothing out of the ordinary. Although nicely decorated, the spa is small and can be claustophobic-especially the waiting area. Also, you have to ask for water or tea as there is no set-up to help yourself.

Dear SpartanQueen51:
We certainly appreciate your continued patronage. We had two champagne open houses in November, the first was for a list of our top 100 clients, a list generated by our management software, by invitation only, and another two weeks later that was open to all, and was publicized widely. We are sorry that you missed it. Our tea and water service is offered and delivered to our patrons before, during, and after their service. We prefer to offer this personalized service.
We have made the most efficient use possible of the space we have; in order to comply with building code requirements of our renovated century building. We had to take some space from the waiting room for the handicapped-accessible wash/change room. And yes, with the success of our business, we are outgrowing our space.
Thank you for your review.
Sincerely,
Kathy and Staff
