I've visited a few times growing up...a very nice place. For Christmas they had a slight ride and carolling.. Quite quaint and felt like I was transported back in time.

Thank you for reviewing Doon Heritage Village at the Waterloo Region Museum. Yes, Christmas is a special time in the village. Tickets to the museum's evening programs sell out very quickly after they go on sale - the day after Labour Day each year. We also offer an afternoon event called Country Christmas on Sunday afternoons in December - check... More

Blacksmith shop, general stores, covered bridges, all have an authenticity about them. Great for kids to see how people lived and mad early living. during that era.

Thank you for visiting Doon Heritage Village at the Waterloo Region Museum. I agree with you - Canada Day is extra special in the village. It's also our busiest day of the year, so we encourage car pooling, walking, cycling ... because the museum's parking lot fills up fast. We hope to see you again soon - before Canada Day... More

Wonderful day spent with grandchildren with activities to keep them busy all day long. They made bread, butter, sailing boats, clay pots, did laundry, carried water, wrung out the laundry and hung it on the line, listened to stories, learned about trees.

I took my 10 year old niece in August and she loved it. She loved exploring thru all of the homes and we got to sample some of the food they had made on the old stoves, as well as, tried our hand at fishing the old fashion way - bamboo poles, a hook and some bread dough! On a... More

Thank you for visiting Doon Heritage Village at the Waterloo Region Museum. I'm pleased to hear that fishing was a hit and that you had a great visit. Thank you for recommending Waterloo Region Museum as a venue for a wedding. We host marriage ceremonies in the Freeport Church, outdoors and in the museum itself. Plus, there are wedding receptions in the Grand Foyer of the museum almost every weekend, through the height of the wedding season, beginning in April through late October.
