Relaxing evenings after active padding days on the remote rivers. We paddled over 250 km in 10 days on the lower misinaibi and moose rivers, ending up on Moosonee On. The trip started with an exciting bush plane flight to a bay on the river where we unloaded and began our journey. Each night we camped on sand bars or islands along the rivers. We saw bald eagles, otters, shore birds and caught fish along the way. The days were warm and the nights cool and we had sunny and rainy days and both tailwinds and headwinds. Lots of biting insects so bug nets and spray were well used. Wool sox and good water shoes are a must to comfort wet feet! Our guides Rianna and Zofia were amazing, working incredibly hard to maximize our comfort and experience. From hot coffee at 7:00 am to delicious dinners cooked over a wood fire at the end of the long days. They made surprising meals and deserts throughout the trip! The warm water in July was nice for swimming and the strong current helps with the paddle downstream. We encountered small rapids and swifts to add some excitement, but also short shallow sections to drag the canoes over. The sky was beautiful both day and night; puffy white clouds in radiant blue and bright stars at night. We did not see any moose or bears, only their tracks in the sand along the shore. A good experience overall with lots of opportunity to work your muscles!

The guides on our lower Missinaibi trip were beyond excellent. They worked from dawn to dusk (and the summer day is long this far north) to keep us satiated, safe, and happy. Their cooking was superb and they buoyed our spirits when the going and/or the bugs got tough. We had headwinds much of the way and we simply couldn't have done it without these two superwomen. As a bonus, we enjoyed an amazing and varied display of the power of glaciers and some fine sunsets as we made our way downriver and eventually into James Bay.

Great adventure, 8 days, 7 nights with great guides, Sam and Jason. Good for kids too. I did this trip with my two boys, 11 year and 7 year old. It felt very safe and we had a lot of fun in the rapids and river paddling. Good fishing as well. Special note for the cooking and food, meals were outstanding. I would do it again with no hesitation.

This was an amazing wilderness experience covering over 135 km, 15 sets or rapids, a few portages and some great wildlife sightings (eagles, bear, marten etc ). The guides, Sam and Jason, were very attentive to logistic details and safety. They helped the travellers adapt to the conditions and improve their skills. Their camp set up and expertly prepared meals made one feel guilty of taking it easy. Great trip - I can hardly wait to do another one with MHO!

My first canoe trip in Canada was a great success! Two weeks on the Missinaibi was filled with beautiful unspoilt nature, exciting whitewater rapids, great travel companions and good food. The MHO guides could not have been better. They provided professional river guiding, good food (including cakes baked on the open fire) and they took the heaviest loads on the portages. Utterly unforgettable! Ole Herman / Norway
