My campsite #337, located at the end of a loop, was quite private, yet it was not totally shaded and I could enjoy the sun, too. Before my visit it must have rained a lot and there was a huge puddle in front of the campsite. It gradually disappeared, but at the end of my stay it was pouring again and eventually it became even bigger! Thankfully, the site itself was dry and no puddles formed.

I walked behind the campsite and soon reached a cliff; apparently, the Big East River once flowed there. Since it is a meandering river, the flow of the river erodes its banks and changes its course, causing a neck, which eventually becomes very narrow and is breached by the flow of the river. Ultimately the abandoned curve turns into an oxbow lake—and such a lake apparently existed down the cliff.

The park was rather busy, especially over weekends, but quiet. Last year I did a few hikes; this year I skipped this activity, spending most of the time on the campsite, reading books and writing. I saw several woodpeckers, blue jays and a very friendly chipmunk, which showed up each time I had my meal! I did not see any raccoons. This summer I hardly encountered any mosquitoes in any of the parks, and Arrowhead was no exception, either, and I never used the mosquito spray.

The previous year (2020) I had camped on campsite #254. This year, after heavy rains, I drove by that campsite and was shocked to see that most of it was totally flooded! I must say we were very lucky last year and had a good weather, otherwise out tents would have been swamped. I think the park should fix this campsite, or at least warn campers, especially those with tents, about this issue.

Since the park is relatively close to Highway 11, you can hear the highway traffic. From time to time I also heard train whistles. But it was not a big issue for me and after a while I hardly noticed it.

The nearby town, Huntsville, has plenty of stores, including The Independent, Walmart, Price Chopper, Canadian Tire and Metro; that last one also offered Tesla charging stations in its parking lot.

Overall, it is a very nice park.

We walked the trails every day some a little muddy so wear old but good gripping shoes and look ahead dont trip over the exposed tree roots. Lots of day visitors surprisingly in a covid year as its not so close to the cities.

Sat on a rock by the water and picnicked with 2 dogs. Dog beach access is such a small part of the beach had to move peoples canoes they were just leaving there to get to it. When everyone else has huge areas never understand why they take over the little spot we are allowed.

Fishing everywhere tiny tiny fish hardly seems sporting. And lost hooks lots near the shoreline be so careful with dogs and children check before you let them go in. Again non dog accompanied fishers all over the small area I can go with my dogs.

Lovely site same as last year, we have upgraded our camper from 20 to 25 feet so a lot of manoeuvering to get it in. Electrical outlet was 120 feet away.

Line up for drinkable water, saw one man fill with the red hoses red meaning no. Thats used for flushing the sewer hoses, but some people know better hope he is not too sick. Blue is hood drinkable water.

Vault toilets disgusting people threw bags of garbage down there, lots of flies.....just dont go there near the water its the worst.

Lovely shady electrical site with good privacy.

After the rain the last night everything was a water feature, roadways, sites quite flooded. Back again next year man more provincial parks to see.

Really nice hikes in Arrowhead park. It was quite busy for end of October and some of the trails were very muddy (wear good hiking boots!) but we enjoyed ourselves. We did the Arrowhead lake trail (5km), the Stubbs Falls trail (1,5 in and out trail, one side is closed) and the Lookout trail (3km). We came for the Beaver trail, but it was closed due to flooding.

My husband and I have gone to the arrowhead Provincial Park the last three years in a row. We are also going this year as well in June and bringing up our son and his girlfriend and my best friend and her friend. We are so excited! We always stay in the arrowhead Resort. We just only a 30 minute walk to the entrance of the park. We tend to go a different month each year so that we can experience all seasons. We are excited to go this year as the weather will be nice for hiking. We are going to do the different Trail so we can see the waterfalls and do some fishing as well. A great place to explore for sure. This time. We are also bringing our three dogs, so it should be a fun adventure!

After staying in parks for 10+ years, I have never received such poor treatment from staff. Even further, it might have been some of the worst treatment I have ever received from another human being. After my experience at this park, I will NEVER stay in a provincial park every again. Annually, I usually visit at least 7 parks on a minimum of a 2 night stay but ALL of my future camping will be done on Crown Land or in private parks where I have rights and personal security. It was horrible to see Ministry workers treat visitors that way - absolutely disgusting and wrong!

We came for the Fire & Ice Tiki Torch skating experience.

We started our day with day skating. It was nice and bright. The snow is a little rough in areas. There is a slight incline at one point and a slight decline towards the end. It’s a nice loop. Everyone is very mindful of the others. Especially with beginners.

The fire and ice night time skating was a little busy. We went at 7:30pm and it died down quite a bit (it closes at 9pm). It was FREEZING but they had the fire pits going full force. It was a nice sight. Lots of torches to provide ample lighting.

We also did the snow tubing. It was not monitored. Everyone was very patient with one another.

The hill is quite long and fast. The trek back up is a little taxing. Lines moved pretty quickly. There is hay at the end to slow you down.

Parking: there are a few areas to park for the skating trail. It wasn’t too busy and there is a trail to walk from the lot to trail.

We came to Arrowhead for the hiking. At the office the door is blocked off because of Covid, but they have a walk-up window to help you from. We were provided a map of the park trails, and they directed us to the parking areas.

With the exception of the far side of Stubb's Falls, these trails are pretty rugged with tree roots, and rocks sticking up, and plenty of hills to climb. The Mayflower Lake trail is pretty steep in places once you leave the lake, with rocky climbs...it was definitely not an easy stroll. Our walking sticks certainly came in handy.

When we were there many parts of the trails were under water and very muddy. We had to pick our way far off the trail several times, with water running off the hillsides and pooling in the centre of the trail.

They really could use more signage at this park, and even some ratings for which trails are easy and which are challenging would be helpful.

We were a little disappointed with the birding here. We were hoping to catch part of the fall migration, but at least the Autumn colours were a spectacular sight.

We were there on Jan. 1st and very lucky to be able to use their skating trail. The fire and ice was cancelled for New Year's Eve because it was too warm. The skating trail was also closed on Jan. 2nd and 3rd because of above zero temperatures. We were SO lucky that we managed to be there when it was actually open!

The prices went up since last year. A parking pass is now $21 on weekends/holidays and $18 on weekdays. That allows you to access everything except cross-country trails (which require individual passes).

We LOVED the skate trail. It is magical. It never gets old. I did the 1.3km loop 8 times, while my kids took breaks and roasted marshmallows near the entrance where there are warming fires and cubby holes to store your stuff. (see photo)

We also did snowshoeing on the Mayflower Lake trail. It was pretty and you don't really need snowshoes. You can just hike it, but the kids thought it was cute to have snowshoes.

Overall, it's our favourite winter getaway, but definitely more worth it when the skate trail is open so you need to check the daily report carefully. The park posts an update by 9am everyday.

Camped in the Eastriver camp grounds, the staff in the provincial park are very good at their services. Extremely friendly environment for families and kids. Withstood a thunderstorm during our stay here for 5 days. One of my favorite destinations for camping henceforth.

We recently stayed 3 nights in a rustic cabin with the skate and snowshoeing trails just steps from our door. The cabin was very spacious for two people and was equipped with a microwave, electric kettle, fridge and bbq. Large plastic tub sleds helped us transport our supplies a short distance from the parking lot to the cabin. The skate trail was first class! It is groomed with a zamboni so the ice was perfect. It is wide and winds through the forest making for a scenic skate. Cross country ski trails and the snow tube hill are a short drive away. The track set trail that we used allowed for classic and skate style skiing side by side. Like all the trails we used, this one was also very scenic. The "chalet" has lots of room for people to sit and relax with an attractive fireplace and provides skate, ski and snowshoe rentals. We stayed through the week so there were no crowds. It was so nice to have winter activities right outside our door. After a day of outdoor play we returned to our cozy cabin, ready for a hearty dinner and an evening by the propane fireplace playing cards and eventually falling into our comfortable beds for a good night's sleep. Now I'm in love with winter!
