The Capitol Theater in Chatham is a fantastic venue for a concert, stage play or movie. I recently attended a concert with George Canyon and Doc Walker which was fantastic. The theatre is beautiful and they offer full bar service. I have attended movies and dance recitals at the theater also and it is just a perfect venue. It also has a number of great restaurants nearby.

Wonderful venue - too bad so many people in Chatham still complain about all money the Province and Feds handed over to build the facility.

Also too bad it has so few show options throughout the year. Maybe booked 30 nights out of 365.

Chatham Kent is very fortunate to have such a great place to enjoy the Arts. Very thankful for all of the individuals who worked so hard on this project over many many years.

You can watch recent Hollywood films here for $5.00 on most Wednesdays. Popcorn is also very affordable here too! You don't need a second mortgage for a night out!

We were there twice in one week! On Wednesday we viewed the screening of Bohemian Rhapsody and enjoyed a comfortable seat in the first row of the balcony.
On Saturday, we returned to see the tribute band Simply Queen!
They were very talented, gifted performers. We both felt the sound system was turned way too loud for the size of the theatre!! The volume would better suit an outdoor venue!
It was very difficult to hear the singers most of the time, and the drums drowned out what sound did come through! We were in the orchestra. Perhaps seats at the back or balcony might have lessened the impact of the sound system! A good production that left our ears impacted for hours after. Those may be issues the theatre staff has heard before. We will know better for another time when rock band like Simply Queen visits!

We recently attended a four-day dance competition in Chatham in which our granddaughters participated. The venue was in a theatre that had been revamped almost ten years ago at what is obviously great expense. The seating was so comfortable and the sight lines to the stage were very good. The staff was also very cooperative and friendly. They have a decent snack and liquor bar, too. Toileting facilities are also good for a venue it’s size. However, the front vestibule and the interior one closest to the seat entrances are far too crowded. The worst issue, though, is with accessible parking, an issue I later raised with the mayor’s office. It is beyond pathetic. Just a heads-up.
