About
Welcome to Cape Forchu, a Light Like No Other. This spectacular and unique "apple core" lighthouse is the second most photographed lighthouse in Nova Scotia and located just 10 minutes outside the Town of Yarmouth. The Cape has been welcoming visitors since 1604, when Samuel de Champlain landed and named the area "Cap Forchu," meaning "Forked tongue of land."

Even though the actual lighthouse and out buildings were closed for entry, the rest of the site was just fantastic to walk around and view the scenery.

Very much enjoyed our time here, beautiful views and scenery, we had lovely weather and found it to be a very peaceful spot. The climb to the top of the tower is one 77 step long spiral staircase. The may not be fit everyone, but we both found it to be week worth the effort.
All three docents we interacted with were knowledgeable about both the history of the beacon/site, as well as the local area, and each of them was just a delight to speak with. All in all an excellent traveling experience, and a wonderful learning opportunity.

Nice scenic drive out to the lighthouse. Definitely worth the time. Make sure to stop by the "Lost to See" Memorial on your way out or when returning to town.

The lighthouse is in a beautiful area that has walking paths and benches. It's worth a visit just to walk in the area. The lighthouse tour was short and an easier climb then usual as it was not as tall.

We spent 3-4 hours here just basking in the views and taking photos. Lovey spot and fun to climb the lighthouse stairs. Not recommended for those who are not comfortable in closed in spaces. The climb is not too strenuous but you have to be able to climb a short ladder at the top. about 72 narrow stairs.

I have to be honest: it's not my favorite lighthouse out of the thousands I've seen as a New Englander and on my travels. A lighthouse that's described as an 'apple core' is not an attractive lighthouse. But, it has an interesting history and it's in a beautiful setting.

The lighthouse is lovely and the landscape is magnificent offering beautiful vistas of the sunset and out over the ocean. We picked up a car in Yarmouth and took off on a driving tour of the area. Recommended.

Is it true that two women who sat up on the rocks one stormy night were both swept into the sea. There is a memorial stone there with their names on it?

I should add...in the maritimes, most beaches look beautiful, but can be quite deadly...heed the warnings from the locals...We don't tell you stories just for entertainment, we want to keep our visitors safe
