About
Welcome to Cape Forchu, a Light Like No Other. This spectacular and unique "apple core" lighthouse is the second most photographed lighthouse in Nova Scotia and located just 10 minutes outside the Town of Yarmouth. The Cape has been welcoming visitors since 1604, when Samuel de Champlain landed and named the area "Cap Forchu," meaning "Forked tongue of land."

There are sooo many lighthouses in Nova Scotia. We really enjoyed this one. Great views from the top and interesting history and stories told by a guide whose grandfather just happened to have been a lighthouse keeper there.

Amazing views, history and nice walk. Looking forward to summer for another visit. There is a restaurant but only open in summer. Also the lighthouse that can be climbed but again that's a summer time experience

Thanks for visiting and leaving a review :) Really appreciate feedback from our visitors. If you are interested in a climb the light tour, we can also accommodate private bookings outside of our peak season. Look for tours and the restaurant to re-open full-time in late May or early June.

We arrived to Cape Forchu in the morning when the fog was thick but luckily no rain. It is interesting how the fog made it even more atmospheric and typical to the Yarmouth area.
You can learn about the history of Cape Forchu by reading the information on the boards scattered in the park below the lighthouse. There is also a small restaurant and an ice cream shop, but we were not hungry, so I cannot comment on the meals quality
The highlight for us was our short walk on the Lief Ericsson Trail when the fog has finally dissipated; the ocean views, mighty rocks and the lighthouse perching on the hill will stay in our memories as a perfect image of the Canadian Maritimes.

We loved our visit to Cape Forchu. It was a little foggy at first when we arrived, but it started to burn off during our time there. The area has a lot of history and beautiful rock formations. We enjoyed walking the short trail that had a number of plaques with the history of the area. They have a restaurant up by the lighthouse and washroom facilities. I highly recommend visiting this area, if you are in Yarmouth.

A must see as the lighthouse and surrounding area is just beautiful. Wild roses in bloom, a safe trail to walk and let your imagination conjure up those mariners tales of ships and the sea

We spent about an hour at this lighthouse while making our way south around the western end of Nova Scotia. It's a beautiful lighthouse, with many walking paths and lots of history to take in. It's among the most striking lighthouses. There's also a nice cafe. We'd love to come here when it's sunny.

We visited on a lovely afternoon and found the scenery lovely. The rugged coastline is beautiful! I was also happy to earn an Earth Geocache and learn about the formation of the rocks. Unfortunately we were too late to enjoy a coffee at the café.

Came here today for a walk around the point where the lighthouse is. So nice, well maintained and lots to see!
There is a free parking lot, and you cab walk from there.
Highly recommended!

Is it true that two women who sat up on the rocks one stormy night were both swept into the sea. There is a memorial stone there with their names on it?

I should add...in the maritimes, most beaches look beautiful, but can be quite deadly...heed the warnings from the locals...We don't tell you stories just for entertainment, we want to keep our visitors safe
