The Salmon River tidal bore in full force
Aug. 2021 • Couples
We were so lucky! We parked at the Fundy Discovery Site parking lot literally five minutes before the start of the afternoon tide. We didn’t even hope to arrive on time for the tide because of the long drive from Alma, crossing the border to Nova Scotia, construction on the road, etc., but we made it!

The tide bore lasted around 20 minutes and it was surreal to see how the red sand of the river bed was quickly disappearing in the mighty flow of water. It was a relatively high tide on the day of our visit and of course it added a lot of excitement. I am very grateful to the employee of the Fundy Discovery Site, who told us many interesting things about this truly unique phenomenon. I think her name was Mica and I would like to extend our gratitude to her.

Very Informative
Jul. 2021 • Couples
Visited the Information Centre at the start of our NS vacation. The individual working at the time was very helpful and provided useful suggestions to help us finalize our travel plans. The area is very well maintained and the kids play area is very well done.

Really cool experience for the whole family
Sep. 2020 • Family
Perfect place for families to view the tidal bore while kids play! There is an *amazing* playground - with mud kitchen, amazing play percussion instruments, an adventure playground with slides and climbing for all ages. The best of both worlds for families - culture for the adults and playground for the kids. Info centre gave us great info about what we were watching and what to look for and there are also some good signs with info too.

The new outlook is great, there is a play area for families with kids, picnic tables and plenty of space to view the tidal boar coming in and the scenery is very nice to see.

This is a wonder of the world for sure--only a couple of places it can be seen
Sep. 2019
This is a must-see for sure. As it is free to view, easy to find, hosts plenty of free parking and is accessible to almost everyone is would be a shame to miss this natural event. You may want to google the best time to visit for maximum experience.

this was not quite as exciting as suggested
Oct. 2019
we were told that this was big and high and exciting... not quite... very interesting though.. there was a tidal wave that came up the river about 3' high.. 3 surfers braved the cold water... 2 didn't quite make the whole trip, but was a great way to meet some people from all over the world.. if you have never seen a tidal bore then you would find this very interesting..

Interesting
Aug. 2019
The river is quite wide at this point so the wave is also wide so not so high. However, it is still fascinating as the wave comes round the bend. Take mosquito repellant, especially for evening waves. Public toilet on car park. Seemed to be ok for motor homes to overnight
