We didn't have time to walk the whole trail as we were travelling, but we found it a pleasant and refreshing walk. It is beside Swift Creek, with lots of enhancements to stop the creek from flooding. Signs say salmon come to spawn and to not disturb them when they are laying eggs (even shadows can bother them). We would like to walk it again when we have more time.

We took a nice evening stroll through this trail and really enjoyed the sounds and views. Mosquitoes love me so I recommend using bug spray in the evening, but it is really a lovely walk. it would be a bit bumpy if in a wheelchair but the small stones are packed well and it's flat so it's an easy trail to wander.

This is a nice well maintained hiking trail, it is not flat, it has some pretty good ups and downs, it has a bridge over the river. You can bike this trail, but not for beginners. I would say if your a couch potatoe this is not for you. Take water and maybe a snack with you. Be prepared for wildlife, you may encounter bears etc.

I might say good things about this hike if Trip Advisor would indicate exactly WHERE IT IS. A map of the general area is insufficient.

We took the acces from the bridge on Whiskey Fill Rd. The water is clear and a little bit wild. Unfortunately we were not at the salmon spawning season. But we had a nice walk next to the creek

To get to this trail, cross the railroad tracks at either 5th or 1st. Turn left and park just after you cross the bridge. The trail goes north along the side of Swift Creek. The first 50 feet is a rugged drop down from the road but then it gets better. The first km or so is on a dirt road along the creek and is just a lovely stroll up a gentle grade. This creek provides the town's water supply and the road is apparently for that access. We were able to pick some nice wild raspberries right by the road.

When the road ends, the trail starts up the mountain in earnest. It is well groomed but fairly steep. There are some nice spots for views over the valley. We did not go to the top so I am not sure, but we heard that if you go all the way up there is an alternate way down along a different dirt road.

It is a well paved loop trail all around the Swift Creek, well it brings you back to the trail in a full circle depending on where you started. We were supposed to have eaten at the Best Western and taken the trail behind from the parking lot. We did, but having eaten at Caribou Grill and a short drive on HW5 N. we could have taken the Main Street trailhead, having forgotten too we headed to BW and accessed the trail behind.

It is a well used mountain bike/hiking trail during spring and summer. The swift creek feeds water the the city of Valemount so is well looked after and is high in terms of significance and importance to the village. It has lush vegetation, mushrooms, lichen, swampy lands and a treasured sockeye salmon habitat. We were early in the season could not see any Salmon, but we did see lots of painted ducks, a couple of otters, trout along the creek beds and while standing atop the lookouts you have a exceptional view of the surrounding mountains and marshes that stretch to the foot of the mountains. Crossing the newly built suspension bridge across the creek is a highlight. We spent quite some time trying to see trout and Salmon.

We spent a quite romantic afternoon on one of the lookouts enjoying the late afternoon light, the clear skies, periodically trying to spot bear or a moose. Romantic notions we had, we would encounter a bear that afternoon, as we had gossiped in town that morning having coffee, sandwiches and donuts at the Gathering Tree.

We enjoyable it is of medium difficulty and a good three hours of great breaths of fresh air, scent of cedar and lichen. We loved it.. didn’t see the bears though we should time it later in the evening and hole out on the lookout with a good binoculars ! Will do next time I’m there..
