About
In Valemount's original Railway Station from 1914, the Valemount & Area Museum showcases how the pioneers of the Robson Valley lived during the last century. Farming, forestry and fur fueled the economy. All of this is lovingly displayed by the Valemount Historic Society, descendants of those pioneers, whom opened the museum in 1992, after nearly 5 years of restoring and refurbishing. Trains, teachers, internment camps, outfitters, farmers, war heroes and more await your visit. The Annex outbuilding displays a magnificent collection of chainsaws and farming implements. Our caboose houses every tool you would need to maintain the tracks. The pièce de résistance is the train station itself with 3 floors of amazing displays. Entry by donation

We like to seek out local attractions and were not disappointed when we found this gem of a museum. This is really great place full of the history of the railway plus local history. If you are in the area or passing through en route like we were then stop by this great little museum.

This is a very quaint museum. Very good price at $3 a person. a bit off the beaten path but a peaceful place to spend a bit of time. lots of little things to see. grounds have picnic possibilities. I found it a bit musty but it is an older building . The railway display is just plain fun! The young man who was working that night was very polite and tried to answer our questions. I think he will do well going forward in life.

What a gem of a place. Recently taken over by the local community, this museum is housed in the original railroad station building and gives a fascinating insight in to late 19th & early 20th century life.
Well worth a visit and a great way to break the journey

This is a good choice when in Valemount, BC, Canada. Not far from the highway. Parking was not a problem. A few buildings to peruse.

Museum of local history with friendly knowledgeable staff. This museum is situated in the old railway station which has been moved back from the tracks. Outside on tracks is an old caribou and other small track machines. There museum contains stories and exhibits through time from when this area was opened up by white settlers. All very nicely presented. Worth a visit. Recommended

Great museum to visit with the whole family. There are exhibits outside and inside and it is highly interactive.
On the inside, there is model train fully built and running around the building. Quite the sight!

A beautiful collection about the past 100-150 years of the area. Covering agricultural, industrial and cultural aspects. The building itslef was the building of the Valemount train station in the past. Moved from its original position here in the late 70’s. Nicely set up in its new place, maintained and kept clean and well. Recommended while in the area or just passing by.
