Lakelse Lake provincial park and surroundings is a spectacular place to camp and spend time recreating at all times of the year. The natural setting of the campgrounds in a tall old growth forests is very beautiful, lush and peaceful. The campsites are surrounded by large, tall evergreens with lush green underbrush where numerous birds and animals abound. On the lake one can see swans in winter , spring and fall as some swans stay over the winter where the warmer hot springs waters keep the lake open. The lake is very exceptional for water sports, fishing and boating as it is 13 kilometres long by 2 across in some areas. There are numerous soft sandy beaches around the lake with shallow, warmer waters to swim and frolic. The fishing opportunities are superb with excellent cutthroat and rainbow fishing along the many weed beds that sruuound the lake. There are two natural, meandering creeks at the south end weed beds to canoe or kayak up through the forested swamps where wildlife viewing opportunities abound for seeing moose, bears, beaver, muskrat, wolves and many species of bird life like eagles, Ospreys and waterfowl. This park and lake environment is a superb , natural and enjoyable recreational area in a pristine, mountainous setting where one can also canoe into the river mouth when the lake is too windy. A must area to camp and recreate when in the northwest corner of B.C. A great place to take kids to be close to nature. A great place to snowshoe, cross country ski and hike in the winter months.

beautiful beach campground facility, with a very nice old cedar forest hike. The hike crosses bridges thru the old growth forest ending u close to the beach. There are no full service sites, however the sites are large and there are many treed and private sites. There are some sites on paved road side as well

PROS: Clean grounds and washrooms, decent beach large enough lake for water sports, good security, quite,
CONS: Very expensive for no power sites, very shady very little sun in sites, removed most outouthouses washrooms are long ways from many sites, warf is showing ware and tear, many swimmers on and around the boat ramps and boat dock very dangerous place to swim, very hard to reserve and when you do figure it out you get an expensive service charge per day that the you book not cool Not a bad camp ground but getting very expensive to camp there not a cheap weekend getaway for local families anymore

Three couples each booked a campsite with power for 5 nights. Great camping sites. Very clean washrooms with hot showers Some pretty large timber to be amazed at in the park. Nice beach and boat launch which were kept very clean. The mosquitoes were not too bad considering how wet some of the terrain was. I heard that the fire wood that was for sale was wet and heavy and didn't burn very well at all!! (we brought our own) Good times and we are all planning a repeat trip!!

It’s a fabulous lake. Large enough to water ski, boat, paddle board and wake board. It has three separate public use sites - the old Picnic site, Grouchie’s Beach and Furlong Bay Picnic Site and Campground. There is also a site, Waterlily Bay where one can rent cabins. There are also some hiking trails for those who love to walk. Winter and summer it is in use. You’ve heard about summer, but winter offers ice fishing, snowmobiling and skating when the lake is frozen over. Go one give it a try! You will love it!

A great and safe place to camp, picnic, or just relax at the beach and go for a swim, beautiful view. Clean beaches and camping areas are well-kept, price are not that bad either for campers, Children love this place and the water is clean!

Started camping (real camping in a tent) again a few years ago with my grandson - used to camp every year with my daughters. The campsite is so convenient for the sites being close to everything - washrooms, showers, beach, trails. The park staff are so good going around quite often checking things out. And I really like the secure feeling of having them there and the gate closing at night so it doesn't become a party place. Very peaceful evenings.

I live in this area and have frequented many provincial campsites in my day. This park is "top notch." It is set in large (old) growth coastal forest with a complete network of paved trails to access all of the park. Beach area is sandy and the view from the beach is spectacular. Water is great in the summer.... bracing in June and Sept. Facilities in the park are clean and provide all you need for "camping support." Potable water, showers, toilet facilities. Individual campsites are quite private and group campsites allow families a "larger" space. The beauty of the lake and the old (ish) growth forests are the attraction here. You do have to pay for overnight use.

I camped at Lake Lakelse, Furlong Bay, and it was by far the cleanest and most beautiful campgrounds I have ever visited. My site was neatly raked and private. Even though there are campsites on either side, the thick undergrowth and massive trees give it a very private feel. The lake is beautiful with very nice swimming and picnic areas. The showers were remodeled and quite nice for a campground. I also liked that the gates are locked at night and security is provided for the campers. I will absolutely stay here again!
