I was recently here while waiting for the train (which is notoriously late) and although it was a little crowded, I was visually entertained the whole time. Whether you're here to wait for the train or not, this place is a treasure trove. Plenty of local crafts for sale here - books, indigenous prints/carvings, jewelry, etc. as well as local information at a range of prices. It's evident there is plenty of artistic talent in the area and it's amazing how much stuff they can get into a relatively small space! A great one stop shop kind of place if you're wanting to purchase some memories of your time in Terrace,

If you have limited time George Little House is the place to visit first. That was what we did in late August. The building was the residence of the founding father of Terrace - George Little, and now it houses the visitor's information centre with lots of antique and local artisans' craft on sale, a First Nation's art studio upstairs, and VIA Rail's train station. The staff working there was very friendly and knowledgeable - she seemed to know everyone in town! We popped in there to get maps etc. but ended up enjoying an hour of chats with her and a couple of locals dropped by to say hello. The artisan soap, cedar flower, laced earring, Aboriginal artworks such as silk-print and carvings, old records, the list could be endless but it was not a big place and amazingly so many things could be displayed nicely! Yes we scooped up most of the goat milk soap there, each one was so pretty like a mini carving. I think it is like a hidden treasure box of Terrace.

The place is fenced up and locked. The grass was over grown and there weree vines covering the fences. Looks like they don't care about their town heritage. Really sad to see.

Unfortunately the place that is fenced off, is not part of George Little House. These houses were built by an
amazing person that immigrated to Terrace from his home town in Youghal, Ireland. He built his whole village on his property.
When he was unable to look after them, after many years of being enjoyed by our community and Tourists. A
group of volunteers saved the buildings from being put in the landfill and moved them beside the George Little
House. The volunteers, which is only a few, closed the yard at the end of August. There is never any garbage in the site. The vines are morning glories & honeysuckle vines. Unfortunately the site is on a old feed store and the grass grows quick. We appreciate the concerns. The George Little House is the VIA Rail station and the passengers have enjoyed this tiny town Youghal for many years.

Welcome to this beautiful little house. It is a beautiful beautiful keepsake of Terrace's history. I love talking to and helping all our visitors, even our daily visitor, Spike. Debbie is a wonderful person to work for. The knowledge and training she has provided is phenomenal. She gives of herself, tirelessly and she loves Terrace's history. She also is one of Terrace's most passionate people about the care of our First Nations people. Her display of their Art, carvings and jewelry is absolutely a must have. Please don't hesitate, come and visit us. We are presently also selling concert society tickets and passes. It is a joy to meet and greet our local and new comers to Terrace.Thank you for your continued patronage. Hope to see you often, Shirley Ann.
