We looked at the various ways to travel from Vancouver to Victoria and decided to use BC Ferries. I am so glad we did. We were picked up by bus from just near our hotel, taken to the bus depot and boarded a bus that took us to Vivtoria. We got off the bus when on the ferry. The bus... More

Hi Lynette D, It's great to hear from you. We're so glad to hear you enjoyed your trip to Victoria, and that we could be a part of it! There's nothing like arriving on the Island already relaxed from a smooth sailing in the sun. Victoria is such an accessible city - perfect for both a mini getaway and an... More

One of the busiest times of the year, either Victoria Day, Dominion Day, Labour Day or around Xmas. Always well organized, we were lucky arrived at 1235hrs boarded at 1245hrs, sailed at 1300hrs, arrived Swartz Bay 1440hrs. Ferry was busy, but everything went well.

Hi Bruce A, We appreciate you taking the time to share your review. Holidays and long weekends are always busy times for travel. We prepare for the extra traffic months in advance with extra sailings, regular traffic updates and of course a full stocked dessert selection in the Buffet! We always recommend reservations for travel over long weekends, but as... More

BC Ferries has for many years suffered the curses of the locals, on both sides of the ride. But that's the juice from those who think it should be free to travel from the continent to the island, or vice versa. There's a hidden gem, though, that many people are unaware of, and that's the trip from Port Hardy on... More

Hi Trevor P, Thank you for your kind review. It's so easy to get caught up in the beauty of Vancouver Island and the south coast that sometimes even locals forget that BC extends far up into the great, untouched North. The Inside Passage is a true experience that offers a new perspective with every change in season. Haida Gwaii... More

The best information I can give is to make reservations during the peak summer season. Waits can be as long as two sailings without a reservation during these times. There are several newer vessels which are most impressive, comfortable and offer a variety of features. The dining is surprisingly good, especially the Buffet. You can enjoy a wide variety of... Hi Mousey_11, We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. Wow - so many thoughtful suggestions! The buffet is a fan favourite on the route between Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay and with so much variety, a great dessert selection and ocean views, it's easy to know why! I personally opt for a small snack and coffee from the... More

Dealt directly with BC Ferries and got a great suggestion about hotels and they were more than happy to customize our departure and return. The staff people at BC Ferries vacations were friendly and helpful! They were able to suggest some good outings that we took advantage of.

If you are coming to the Sunshine Coast this summer, be prepared. I recommend that you make a reservation. If at all possible plan your trip far ahead, 1-2 weeks if possible and reserve your space ahead of time. It is easy on the bcferries.ca website. Otherwise, the earliest and latest sailings are your best bet, BUT arrive early. Do... More

We had two crossings with a car between Vancouver and Vancouver Island. The terminals were easy to find, very efficiently run and the staff clearly indicated where you were to go. The announcements at the terminals were clear and, if you arrive early, you can get food, use restrooms and do a little tourist shopping if required. They call you... More

The ferry does its job and conveys cars and people to and from the island. It us expensive and the food on board is to be avoided.

Where I live the bc ferries system is part of our highway. You wouldn't know it by the amount we get charged compared to the BC interior ferries which the people do not really need but they are free. The government is constantly putting up the ferry fares and they do not take a pay cut. In our small community... More
