Overall we had a good experience— we really enjoy trips like this where you set some traps because even if you don’t catch some fish, you’ll likely come home with something. We came home with lots of prawns and some crab, but no luck fishing. The vessel is great. It was a wonderful day on the water.
With a few changes the tour would be outstanding. Mainly, things weren’t that organized so everything took a while to do. We set a ton of traps, but maybe we could have spent more time fishing and less setting traps. What was advertised as a 6-7 hour tour ended up being about 11 hours. I couldn’t really tell if our lack of luck fishing was just a bad day or a less than optimal guide. Lunch was a hotdog— no chips or anything, just a hotdog. It was just a lot of little things like that that probably seem high maintenance, but they kept the day from being truly outstanding when it absolutely has all the potential to be perfect.

Captain Ron has a unique experience waiting for anyone wanting something out of the ordinary. Our party of 7 had a great time setting prawn and crab traps, watching the local wildlife, and fishing. Everyone from the least experienced to the most experienced learned something. Our party took home over 14 pounds of prawns, a pile of crabs, and caught several species of fish. We'd do it again in a heartbeat! Thanks Captain Ron!

Had a fantastic day out on Captain Ron’s 42’ fishing vessel. We learnt how to set prawn and crab traps…it was awesome. We went mooching for cod and came away with a beautiful 10lb ling cod. We saw a couple transient Oracs and harbour seals sunning on the rocks. There were 6 of us and we took more so much seafood for our dinners but, more importantly, we spent an amazing day out on the water with each other, Captain Ron and his hard-working, kind, deckhand, Jo. So much fun and such an adventure.
Reminder…don’t forget sunscreen even if you think it’s not that sunny!

It was amazing! Last year (september 2019) we did a whalewatching tour with Ron. We asked for some 'quality time' with the killerwhales. And thats what we got. He gave us the incredible moment when a killerwhale suddenly approached our boat. We saw the whole family, it was fantastic. The boat is very comfortable and with Ron as a driver we got some backgroundinformation of the killerwhales and hear their sonar with the hydrophone. We reccomendate booking a tour at SeaKing Adventures! Regards a Dutch family.

Great day on the water, calm seas and Ron and the team were great! Super helpful and informative, also was cool participating in baiting traps, setting lines etc. Fun experience for sure (didn't hurt that prawn fishing was super hot!

Captain Ron always makes sure that the experience is amazing. It was fantastic! I loved getting involved and setting up traps, helping put them out and generally being part of the process. The trip itself is the experience, being on the water, learning and seeing porpoises; however, it’s pretty exciting to take away crab, prawns and cod to enjoy a seafood feast at home.
Thanks, Captain Ron!

We did the deadliest catch excursion and were successful in catching lots of prawns and a number of crabs. Captain Ron, and his second hand Bill, were great - they provided lots of information about the area, fishing, and history of the boat. They showed us how to set and retrieve traps. This was a great adventure for our family - we enjoyed the experience and got to take home our catch!
Highly recommend for families and people looking for adventure and more than just a sight-seeing excursion!

We were very excited to go whale-watching and chose Sea King based on the fact that is was a smaller company and promised a more intimate experience with the wildlife. While the rate was cheap, I believe cheaper than most other companies, I would gladly have paid the additional money to have gone out with anyone else.
The trip started off fine, but as we got to some seals to watch, Captain Ron made several comments about believing there should be a cull of the seals and laughed about the idea of using a "seal bomb", which we found somewhat odd (to say the least) considering this was supposed to be wildlife tour. I've never been on a wildlife tour with a guide who wanted to kill the wildlife.
As we moved on and made our way to see some Killer Whales, Captain Ron began what would turn out to be an hour long speech about the local whale-watching industry and how terrible all of his competitors were, which again I found to be quite unprofessional. A large killer whale appeared in front of our boat, but Captain Ron didn't really seem interested, as he continued to make fun of his competitors. Eventually he did give us some cursory information about the whales, but overall we left feeling like we had learned very little about the whales and far too much about Captain Ron.
On the way home, my son had to use the washroom and as he attempted to unzip the floatation suit he was wearing, the Captain chided him for apparently doing so incorrectly and then proceeded to sit my son down and take the suit off himself. Considering the fact that my son is 10 and fully capable of dressing and undressing himself, this was quite unnecessary.
Overall, we found the experience to be a disappointment. The wildlife in the area was spectacular as promised, and my family and I are glad that we got to see the whales, but Captain Ron made the experience uncomfortable. I would not recommend Sea King to anyone who actually wants to learn about the wildlife they are viewing, or anyone who appreciates being spoken to like an adult rather than condesended to like a child (After asking the captain about what we could expect to see when we reached the whales, he informed my wife that the whales swim underwater and when they need to breathe they come to the surface, and so we would see them when they came to the surface to breathe...)

We chartered the boat for a group of 8 friends/family. Excellent value compared to other companies and a small boat meaning we could get up close with nature and move about the boat unlike other companies where you have a designated seat. We saw humpbacks, harbour seals, a bald eagle, sea lions and elephant seals. We also spent some time exploring the surrounding waterways and inlets. We learnt loads and enjoyed the thrilling speedboat ride on the open waves! Would highly recommend!

The sight of an Orca whale is an experience I will never forget! Going out with SeaKing Adventures was the absolute BEST. Not only to witness a pod swimming near and breaching, putting on a breathtaking show, but learning some facts and habits was a bonus. The captain was very knowledgeable and more than willing to share some experiences. We saw seals, and that day were fortunate to see Humpback whales too! The boat seats were comfortable, the company friendly...I highly recommend this excursion to anybody.
