This tour was by far the highlight of our trip to Vancouver Island. It takes you on logging roads through the Nahmint Valley to some breathe taking views. Our tour guide, Blain, was super knowledgeable and certainly took the “wow” factor of this trip up a notch. Our most cherished memories of this experience are swimming in the crystal-clear glacier waters (yes it was very cold!), eating various wild berries, and relaxing at the beautiful viewpoints. If you are looking for a way to explore Vancouver Island and be one with nature, this is the tour for you. We would do it again in a heartbeat.
Thank you so much Blain (you’re the man!).

My wife and I (both 50 years old) spent a brilliant afternoon with Blaine. He adapted the difficulty and speed, so that my wife, who had never driven an ATV before, felt comfortable and safe too. We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed some great views and some great trails. After the thorough and competent introduction and the four hour ride our thumbs were getting sore from operating the throttle, but we had a big smile on our face. It was an all around great adventure that I can fully recommend.

I've done this twice now and both were amazing, but this most recent was definitely the best. Blaine took us to some amazing views and through some really unforgettable terrain. After one spot that required a little Macgyvering with some cedar, we got up to the "Top of the World" and enjoy some seriously panoramic views of both the East and West coast.
Blaine's a great guy that really went out of his way to make the day unforgettable at a stupidly reasonable price. I'll definitely be going again and would recommend to anyone!

We are a couple who wanted a short wilderness adventure with a bit of a dirt-bike-ish flavor, and we found what we were looking for in the Nahmint Valley half-day ATV tour with West Coast Edge. Our terrific guide, Blain, is affable, knowledgeable, and professional, and provided all the gear, snacks, guidance, and inspiration for a truly memorable experience. We covered dozens and dozens of kilometers in this spectacular territory.
Between the adrenaline-laced traverses on our Polaris RZR ATV, including climbs of many hundreds of vertical feet, Blain stopped frequently in interesting locations where we could recharge, pick Blain’s brain about the valley, mountains, lakes, wildlife, and people, and just soak up the magnificent beauty of the place. An unexpected bonus was the brilliant pictures Blain took of us in various stunning locations, giving us a wonderful record of a great day.
One of the highlights was during one of our stops, high above Nahmint Lake, where we noticed a majestic bald eagle circling hundreds of feet below us, and watched it effortlessly spiral up to us, riding the ridge/thermal lift, and then continue upward until it specked out hundreds of feet above us. Unforgettable!
Thanks a million, Blain, for an amazing experience!

We were a group of 5 ladies on a day trip. We had all kinds of weather and were so glad we wore the rain suits they provided as it did get muddy. Blain was an amazing guide, lots of fun and put up with our gang. He was very knowledgeable and was very safety conscious. I was a bit concerned about being out for 5 hours but it went by so quickly. We stopped at some amazing lookouts and had a campfire and hot chocolate with cookies, cheese and crackers and water. I would highly recommend this for any age group.

Although it was pouring rain, they were still willing to take us on the tour. Provided us with rain gear and away we went. 80 kilometres later my husband and I had a blast. Blain was a awesome host and we got to see a part of the country you would never see from the highway. Amazing waterfalls, rivers and lakes. An experience we will never forget.

An awesome afternoon spent with Blaine on the ATV tour! Blaine was clearly very experienced as a guide/tour operator and focused on safety from the very beginning. He shared a lot of local knowledge about the areas we drove through. We stopped at a number of points along the way to enjoy the views and to cool down in a couple of fresh water lakes. Blaine catered with plenty of cool water to drink and snacks for the afternoon. He’s the only ATV guide on Vancouver Island and well worth the time! It was and enjoyable journey up through the valley and to the top.

What can I say apart from an excellent day was had. Blain was a true gentleman and very knowledgeable about the history and activities that went on in Nahmint valley. Blain's knowledge and coaching of the buggies was superb. Health and safety on driving the buggies was exceptional. We all had a great time with Blain. Great excursion, great day and a brilliant man. I would do this again when we return to Vancouver Island. I highly recommend this excursion to all age groups. Have a great day with a great host.

We had an amazing family trip thanks to Blain and the folks at West Coast Edge. We couldn't have asked for a better time. This was a 3 day custom trip for 6 of us that Blain put together for us including the amazing Chef David who kept us all well fed with his exquisite meals which included Pecan Pie around the fire on Saturday night. The scenery was outstanding, make sure you check out the "Big Tree". Blain is an excellent tour guide who goes above and beyond to ensure everyone is having a great time and is very knowledgeable about every aspect of the areas we rode to. We're already planning a trip back next year.

I had such a fantastic time I was compelled to write my first TripAdvisor review.
My experience was awesome from start to finish. Patricia booked my tour over the phone on short notice, and she was able to pack me a delicious gluten-free lunch & snack because I have Celiac disease - thanks Patricia!
Blain was my guide on March 31, 2018 for the full-day Nahmint Valley Tour. We met at an easy-to-find location in Port Alberni, then drove a short distance to our departure point. Blain gave me a safety orientation & opportunity to practice handling the ATV in a gravel parking lot...she's Voodoo Blue colour, so that's what I nicknamed her. :) Luckily Voodoo was an automatic transmission ATV, and I could tell she was very well-maintained, so I was very comfortable driving her all day. The driver's seat adjusted to accommodate my short legs, and Blain even brought a seat warmer that I used several times throughout the day.
Definitely dress in layers appropriate to the time of year you're visiting, and bring protective storage for your camera, as it will be subjected to the elements.
We covered a lot of distance visiting lookouts over Port Alberni, Sproat Lake & Nahmint Lake, the cabin at Henderson Lake, the Thunderbird's Nest, and many other places. Blain struck a great balance between riding time, photo ops, and breaks.
A lot of other tours & activities I investigated were only open from June - early September, but in retrospect I'm glad, because it allowed me to discover this gem of a family business!
Sure this costs money, but how many people see gorgeous Canadian rainforests (and possibly wildlife) by ATV with a knowledgeable, safety-conscious and fun guide? This was an incredibly unique experience, and I had a blast. Thanks for being such great company Blain - your enthusiasm for the outdoors and zest for showcasing your area is awesome!
If possible I'll be back to visit in the autumn with my Mom in tow. Voodoo's seats were very comfortable, and this experience does not involve rigorous activity or require a high level of physical fitness. Hopefully we'll see the bears feasting on fish before they hit the sack for slumbering.

Hello,
I'm interested in booking an overnight tour to the Henderson lake. I will be traveling by myself. Can I still book the tour for just me and maybe you can group me with other people or do I have to have minimum a group of 4?
Also, I will be traveling from Vancouver city to Victoria. I don't have a car and was wondering how to travel from Victoria to the meetup point at Alberni Valley.
Btw, my travel time is June 20-27, 2017
Thank you,
Ngoc

Two questions here. What is involved in the overnight adventure? Do I have to bring my own camping gear and/or food?
Thanks for any answers!

The overnight trip includes a full day of riding, upon arrival at our remote and very private 6 bedroom cottage with full amenities you can relax, and enjoy the view from the deck while a salmon dinner is prepared for you. There are opportunities for activities such as swimming, kayaking, canoeing, wildlife viewing, fishing,etc... one of the largest trees in Canada is located just a short walk through old growth forest.
