Stunning area and the air and energy is a win on its own. The trails very well maintained no matter what age and is accessible. Great place to stamp and stretch your legs or to spends hours at. Amazing and highly recommend.

I’m not sure why this pace doesn’t turn up in more guides as it’s beautiful. Park up off route 4 on either side of the road on the designated parking area and take a walk through the Cathedral Trail’, a path that meanders through one of the remaining original Douglas Fir forests in BC. The oldest tree is 800 years old and 76m high, many of the others around 300 years old.

It’s a relatively short loop - be sure to keep on the path and not step over any of the rails as they are preserving this forest as best they can whilst still offering us the opportunity to view it.

Lovely way marked trails through an impressive landscape. There is a variety of trails to choose from. The trails have information boards along them to explain what is happening around you. It can get very busy and parking is limited.

All I can say is, I feel lucky to have been able to see and spend some time amongst such beauty and majesty. The tree trunks are as wide as a detached house, the tops are so tall, that you can even see it; everywhere you look, it’s a beautiful and earthy mix of greens and browns with the mountains in the backdrop. And the little stream flowing through here, has crystal clear water. This place is utter perfection with its peace and quiet and its fresh mountain air.

Really makes you appreciate the natural environment and will definitely leave you awestruck and inspired to promote conservation.

This place is simply amazing. They crave out easy walking trails to showcase this tall tree forest, on both sides of the road.

DON'T GO INSIDE -- PARK RANGERS ARE ISSUING TICKETS. The park is closed but you can admire trees from the road.

Currently closed due to COVID 19.
Cathedral Grove and MacMillan Provincial Park are essentially the same thing. The Trip Advisor listing should be amalgamated.
Beautiful trees, dangerous parking area alongside the main highway.

Fairytale forest with large moss covered trees. Drizzling rain made the greens brighter, and the forest seemed painted.

Great stop on your way to or from Port Alberni or Tofino. Nice pathways (a bit mucky when it has rained as it doesn't dry out but you can make your way around it). Fascinating to see the large trees. Good info to read along the way.

Such a beautiful area, especially with the fall color. We stopped at Cathedral Grove and walked the trails there, so gorgeous.
