    Amazing Spa!
Great experience and service. The mineral pool was relaxing and I really liked the nail polish line they use which is made in BC locally and is very nourishing to use on nails. The girl that did my manicure and massage was really nice and very knowledgeable. I would definitely go back again and highly recommend to anyone.

    Exceptionally disappointing.
We did the dip and dine with very high expectations from a previous visit. The mineral pool was quiet and looking a bit tired, but relaxing just the same. I understand it is due for a scheduled revamp. The tapas is where the disappointment really comes in to play. With two exceptions the meat dishes were very dry and over cooked. Covering them in sauces did not hide the fact they were tough and dry. The lamb, which was ground and the tuna served raw were the only exceptions. Dessert was okay. Staff were great, the remaining experience, very disappointing.
Dear Brenda B, Please accept our apologies that your recent visit didn't compare to previous visits. I will be sure to pass your feedback along to our Managing Chef, to make necessary changes with our culinary team. A new menu at Treetop Tapas & Grill was launched on October 20th and has been receiving wonderful reviews. We are preparing now for exciting renovations that will begin on January 7th. We do hope for a chance to welcome you back in the new year. Warm Regards,

    Our Fave Happy Place!
Having just returned from a week @ Tigh, I still wasn’t ready to leave! From the stunning views, to our bright, yet cozy, beamed room with FP, the comfiest bed & pillows(ever), it was all we anticipated & more. Rave reviews continue to pour in from guests we hosted at our event, held in one of the conference rooms. From the excellence of the staff & service, to the delicious plank salmon, done to perfection, we couldn’t have asked for more. A Spa Day, with my girls, was the ideal way to unwind, after a whirlwind function. The Reno/upgrades to the Grotto Spa, couldn’t have fit the bill more perfectly. Lounging in the mineral pool & jacuzzi with infused sparkling water on demand. Yum. Kicking back in the fab new saunas. Oh Yeah. Table service at a firetable on the deck, with drinks & appies. Bring. It. By the time we hit our expertly delivered spa treatments we were sufficiently mellow & then some. To then be WOWED by our 9 course endless Tapas upstairs, complemented by an extensive beverage menu. Yes Pls. The service was exemplary. Tummies full & hearts happy, I can’t say enough about the Grotto Spa experience. The hours spent there, were among my personal fave of the week. Breakies @ Cedar’s, delish. Warmth & friendliness of staff, throughout the resort. Outstanding. From check in to check out, the culture of friendly professionalism sets the tone for a highly coveted & much needed break from all that lay beyond the grounds of TNM. Myself & our party, are already planning our next visit. We can’t wait!
WOW! Feedback such as this is the biggest form of flattery in our industry! Thank you for spending time with us, we look forward to welcoming you back again very soon.

    Grotto pools and Tapas, MEH!
The Grotto was very noisy, and while the mineral pool felt nice, not at all relaxing. The barrel saunas were nice, as was the flavored water station. Watch out on the floor of the hot tub as I stubbed my toes on some large protrusion right in front of the stairs, ouch! High chlorine smell and if there was music playing inside couldn’t hear it. We did the Tapas, which was an experience but would not recommend. Highly overpriced, flavours of every dish were too similar. They did accommodate our vegan request…but not well. Should have a small/medium/large appetite option, as we felt like we wasted a lot of food as some servings weren’t just a taste, as we were expecting. Ever heard of a fresh vegetable, and any other nut than pistachio? And we hope they didn’t waste time making the …pistachio cheese, it was gross. Texture was awful and tasted like feet. There are some very nice plant based options available out there, surprised that BC isn’t more hip to the vegan options. Server was great though. They add a $15 gratuity pp to the Grotto pools price…ummm, for what? You’re already paying $95 pp for the public pool experience, very overpriced. We usually go to Sparkling Hills, so maybe we had higher expectations of relaxation. Location of Tigh-Na-Mara is lovely, easy to find and room was great…oceanfront main floor suite. Overall, glad we came and tried it out but wouldn’t do the Grotto/Tapas again.
Dear Meraki17, While happy to read you enjoyed the cedar sauna barrels and flavoured water station, please accept our apologies that your visit did not meet your expectations. All areas of The Grotto are open for connection and quiet conversation as part of a social spa experience. As we always have attendants in the space, I will be sure to remind our team to gently manage noisy guests if needed. The filter cover in the Whirlpool was checked by our maintenance team to ensure secured in place, and no issues were found. Water quality is managed by an automated system as required by Island Health to ensure safety for users, which can create a temporary chlorine odour during regular operations. Spa dining guests sit comfortably in robes and sandals overlooking the surrounding forest, while being presented with a unique Chef's Tasting Menu designed around the diverse flavours of the Pacific Northwest. Once completed the Chef's Tasting Menu, guests are invited to reorder favourite dishes for an endless dining adventure, for $95 per person. Guests seeking a lighter option are invited to order from our appetizer menu, with prices starting at $14. While we've been receiving rave reviews on food quality and presentation, your feedback on flavour preferences has been passed to our Chef for his consideration as his menu changes seasonally to best showcase the freshest ingredients available. For the convenience of our guests a 15% gratuity is automatically added to spa charges, which is confirmed at the time of booking. Our goal is to meet or exceed our guest’s expectations. If a guest does not feel the quality of their visit is met, we will take the time to understand where we missed the mark so we can improve upon our service for all guests. When feedback warrants an adjustment to the final bill, we will do so, as is our standard practice. We are grateful for your the moments you chose to spend with us. Thank you again for your feedback and for allowing us the chance to clarify our position.

    Nice upgrades!
Came in for the mid week special for the dip & dine! We had not been since the renovations, but boy did we enjoy! Loved the addition of the private outdoor saunas and the lounge area! It was lovely to be able to have a cocktail on the Laurie in the sun between soaking and being in the sauna. In addition, I enjoyed the cold cloths brought over to us while we were in the hot tub. Very refreshing! Also enjoyed the new water machine where you can have still or sparkling water with different choices of ‘hint of’ flavours.

I used to really enjoy going to this spa but am so disappointed in how they are handling this covid situation. If you are willing to spend enough for half a spa day you can access the mineral pool but if you are only spending 200.00 for a message well then you can not access it. They say its to follow restrictions. Not sure how spending more means following rules. Kingfisher is following restrictions and everyone with a spa treatment is entitled to a one hour reservation at pool. Seems to me that grotto spa is taking advantage of a bad situation. Disgusting

I've been to this spa many times and the last few visits havent been what I would expect of a spa this caliber. The 60 minute rmt message I had was just ok and felt a bit rushed. The two girlfriends I brought had pedicures and they reported the same feeling. Moreover, when we booked the pedicures on the phone we were told the addition of a wax would be $15 dollars but at checkout it was $30. They are also adding a required %15 gratuity without asking customers first. I dont ever mind tipping but I've never heard of a spa doing this. Our services just werent that wonderful and the customer should have a choice. We werent asked by the checkout ladies how our services were which should also be required of the staff at a spa like this. My girlfriend wasnt informed of the 15% tip already placed on the bill and paid an extra 10$ on the bill believing she was leaving a tip. Last summer, I had a group booking and we had major problems at the checkout. They were disorganized and in the end I had to go back the next day to sort out the payments so they were correct. We decided collectively that we will unfortunately not be back again. It just isnt worth the price of the service anymore. Especially now that someone receiving only 1 service has no access to the spas amenities. I completely understand why during covid but the price should be adjusted to reflect the new experience of the spa which isnt the same.

Although the resort and spa are advertised as 1 entity, they do not work together at all! I have booked a cottage 6 times in the past year and had to cancel each time as I could not get a spa reservation. They do not take reservations at the spa far enough in advance to book a cottage for the same time. So I book a cottage and go on the wait list for the spa but am never able get in and wind up having to cancel the reservation. Calling the spa is also difficult as they never answer and the voicemail is always full so you can't leave a message for a callback. It either leaves you in the queue for a while and then disconnects or it transfer you to the resort who can only transfer you back into the spa's queue (which they do not answer). If I am booking a room at the resort, I think that I should get first priority for spa treatments over people who coming in from home. If the resort and spa are 2 different things entirely, they should not share a website and give the appearance that they are 1 in the same. Customer service is unhelpful - although the staff are very nice, all they can do is apologize and say that they know this is an issue (they hear it a lot) but they can not do anything about it. I would absolutely recommend the resort if you are not interested in the spa but don't book here if you are looking to enjoy the spa as you will be very disappointed. Other resorts allow you to coordinate room and spa bookings so why can't Tigh-Na-Mara figure this out?

Customer Service is Unreachable at this location. Half the time their mailbox is full and when you do get through you have to leave a phone number to be called back and to expect a 24 hour wait for callback.

Im sure their competitor spas are loving this business’ customer service practices as I’ve taken my business elsewhere as I’m sure many others have too.

Not a fan.

We had the 30 minute mineral soak, followed by an hour long couples massage, and the the tapas experience.
The mineral soak was nice.
As for the couples massage, mine was good but not great, until she got to my ankle, which I told her before the massage was sprained a few months before, and so I had jokingly said to her, that it was fine to massage the foot, just as long as you don’t yank on my ankle, and we both laughed, and she said she’d never do that. Then she gets to my ankle, and proceeds to pull on it, three times! Each time I think, surely it’s an accident, and she won’t do it again, but she does! The thing is, when she gets to my uninjured ankle, she doesn’t do this at all, so it was like she did this on purpose! I’ve been in physiotherapy for this since before the massage and my physiotherapist says the “massage” has really set back my progress. I guess I should have specified a registered massage therapist and then I would have gotten a professional.
My husband wasn’t overly happy with his massage either. We normally go for massages at home and these were sub par. All this and there was a mandatory tip added.

Much like the resort itself, you get marketed an upscale experience and given something very bland and impersonal. This is certainly NOT the best spa in Canada. The policies and scheduling are a bit bizarre.. you MUST make a reservation to even go in the pool to soak. You can’t bring your own water bottle because apparently people sneak in alcohol too much (why can’t we show them that they’re empty or search bags?)

The pool itself is in major need of an update. The decore is very kitschy, coming out of the locker rooms felt very underwhelming. I thought to myself — this is it? We’re paying $90 to sit in a decorated indoor pool and hot tub. It felt like a bit of a scam for this to be the selling point of their whole experience. I’ve been to smaller spas that have much better ambiance and amenities. I was surprised they didn’t even have a steam room or sauna.

The staff were not the warmest, with the exception of Charlotte who checked us out. She was the only one that seemed interested in our experience. Management was awful though. We had an incident where I paid for all my party’s bill, and when one of my friends tried returning her key and grabbing her coat from the manager, she demanded payment from her, mixing her up with another party. I had to pull out my receipt to prove I had paid for my friend.

Once the manager realized we didn’t owe her money, she was not interested in helping us get my friend’s coat from the back, saying we needed to get out of the way so she could help customers behind us. We found this so odd because all we wanted to do was return the key and get the coat so we could LEAVE.

A friend gifted me a generous gift certificate to the spa. Something I had been looking forward to for almost a year. I travelled from out of town, taking 2 ferries to enjoy my spa day. I booked a massage and time in the pool (which used to be included but now costs $95 - a bit pricey especially after spending $230+ for a massage and $50 for a simple lunch) I was prepared to pay as I was needing and craving a relaxing spa experience. The massage was great but the pool experience was not. I walked in, the place was crowded, with nowhere to place my towel and book. No hooks or chairs available. All taken up. I placed both on the floor. And got in the pool. There were at least 12 people in the pool area, the same outside and the noise level was over the top. I was at a loss of what to do, maybe earplugs would help, I thought. I asked for some from one of the gals working there. And waited. As I waited 10 more people came in. Loud and excited. This was NOT a spa experience, it seemed more like a public pool experience. I started shaking in a panicked mode, with all the noise and chatter. I’ve been lucky enough to visit spas in various locations in BC, Canada and abroad and have never felt this uncomfortable and NOT relaxed. I grabbed my things and quickly left. When I went to pay, the young woman at the counter, was still going to charge me $95 even after I told her what happened, lasting 7 minutes in the pool area. She then offered me a discount and explained they are offering more of a gathering place experience for friends and family to meet, that’s why it’s so busy and loud, plus I should come back during the week when it’s not to busy. Not backing down, I insisted on a full refund, which I finally received. I will never be back and will not recommend this spa to anyone.

Dear Sherryl L, While all areas of the Grotto Spa are open for connection and quiet conversation, I admit that upon reopening after renovations, noise was an issue during the first few weeks as guests expressed excitement over changes made. With an occupancy load of 59 guests in pool and 8 guests in whirlpool, we manage our schedule to ensure we’re well below the maximums as we recognize higher occupancy results in a less relaxing experience. With 21 chairs and 2 benches on our patio, 12 chairs on our pool deck and four 8-person cedar sauna barrels, guests are usually well disbursed throughout The Grotto area. We also have 2 Relaxation Lounges available on our 3rd floor for guests seeking more solace. Over the past several weeks, we’ve scheduled additional attendants in The Grotto area to better manage guest flow and noise, as well as assist guests with any questions or concerns they might have. While midweek days do tend to be less busy than weekends, our goal is to ensure that ALL days are enjoyable no matter how many guests are here. Thank you for taking the time to express your concerns on checkout so your final bill could be adjusted accordingly. As we use guest feedback to improve upon our service, it is my hope that you will join us again in the future to see the improvements your feedback has allowed us to make.

Me and my mom went to tigh na mara and booked a spa day at the grotto. We did the dip and dine. and a massage. the massage was okay nothing special for the price , the tapa bar was pretty gross. We got served cold soup and raw seafood resulting in me throwing up the rest of the night after and my mom feeling extremely nauseas. All and all we spent around 1500$ for this experience which ended up with me being sent to the hospital.
