The mineral pool was nice, the couples massage relaxing, the hand parafin dip was great but the highlight was the endless tapas. AMAZING!! 2 hours of tasty treats and you leave feeling stuffed

This is the third time I have been to The Grotto. The first time was great, the second time was good and the third time was So So. The Price for this experience was 440 so around 220 tax and grat Inc. for a dip in the Mineral Pool and Tapas and 2 drinks each. It's just too much. For one, a dip in a mineral pool with about 8-10 people, I don't think, is worth any more that 30 pp. In that case the rest isn't worth 210.00. Maybe if the food was out of this world and the drinks were something special but they definitely were not. The Presentation of the tapas were good but there was much to be desired in the flavor and an 18-20$ Margarita should be served in a Margarita glass with a sugar rim and looking fancy, not a water glass.
Both our Host and server were great and knowledgeable but the luster has definitely gone Downhill. Also I get that Tapas are for sharing but when you are paying that much pp I don't thing a small salad is something that should be split. I still love the concept of this place but it's time to step it up a notch or two and get back to providing an amazing and special experience. It shouldn't take much.

My friend treated me to the dip n sip package for a birthday surprise as she knew I'd always wanted to experience it. I was so excited and grateful that she would make this happen for me, but oh dear, what a dissapointment. The mineral pool was ok but nothing fantastic.. it was nice. Then upstairs in our robes we went for what we thought would be a fancy cocktail or two and nonstop bites of deliciousness. Not.
The drinks were not fancy, at all, like an $18 cocktail should be. It was obvious there was no real bartender. And the tapas weren't bad, but they just weren't really good. It was all very bland, even the dips and sauces had no flavour. It was actually kinda weird. Our server was lovely though. We liked her.
I didn't pay but I KNOW my friend payed a lot to make this afternoon happen, and nothing should be mediocre for that price.
Now that I've been, I'm definitely not dying to go back. It's really too bad.

While staying at Tigh-Na-Mara, we went to use the Grotto Mineral Spa. Upon entry into the front desk of the Grotto (prior to us even having said hello) we were "greeted" with a very loud "scoff" and eye roll from one of the staff members, who then walked away. This initial experience left us feeling completely unwelcome so much so, that we actually left without using the mineral pool. I have visited the spa a few times before but have never experienced such an unfriendly, judgmental, and unwelcome "greeting." I was shocked and disappointed and would no longer recommend the Grotto at Tigh-Na-Mara.

There is something seriously wrong with the reception at this spa. Both when you phone and in person. I live locally and so visit often in order to make it through our winters, and often bring friends/family, and therefore I feel safe in saying its not a one-off experience. A friend I referred recently had the same and it really upset her.
The front desk is mayhem and after you wait very patiently for your turn to enter or to pay, you have someone helping you that does not even acknowledge you/ look you in the eye and ask how was it...instead scanning the room - looking everywhere but at you (I was ready for her to pull out a nail file). and making you feel extremely unimportant as a client. You are not sure whether she is actually checking you out. She is asking questions of the other receptionists repeatedly because she has lost her train of thought while she gazes around the room. Does she see a good-looking guy? Someone stealing something? What is SO interesting everywhere but in front of her? .
A couple of the employees (not all) absolutely do not belong in the service industry. All of the joy of treating myself disappeared in the 15 minutes it took to pay. I actually felt pretty ticked and think I will check out another spa I have heard about up Island.

Booked in with grotto for RMT spa day, mineral pool, whirl pool etc. Arrive, to find out that we cannot use whirl pool, it is broken. Frustrated because they did not contact or give notice. We drove from few towns over, payed for our first baby sitter, and planned for a full spa experience. They refused to compensate and just asked for reschedule. I feel it's a bit late and costly for a reschedule. Fuel and baby sitters are no longer whimsically cheap. They are providing a service, I feeling very unprofessional to not have a critical part of that service and not provide notice. Or make any compensation for missing service. Good luck to any other potential bookers.

We apologize that our Whirlpool was not available during your recent visit to the Grotto Spa, due to an unexpected maintenance issue which took us by surprise. We were thankful the Mineral Pool and treatment schedule were not affected and therefore available, but understand how this negatively impacted your visit. We will use your feedback to guide our future efforts, by working quickly to contact guests with advance notice should this happen again.
Sincerely,

Endless tapas are a waste of money. I wouldn't be willing to spend even $20 for such lack-luster, blasé, sometimes horrible food. This place doesn't seem like a high end spa at all.

Dear BonsailLogsO3265SI,
I'm sorry to hear the Endless Tapas Dining Experience did not live up to your expectations. As we don't normally receive feedback like this about our spa dining experience, I wonder if you would be willing to contact me by email at paulina.alexander@tigh-na-mara.com, to provide some extra details so I am able to follow up with our Managing Chef. Thank you for your consideration.
Warm regards,
Paulina, Spa Director

Hi there,
I will be staying at the resort next week. Just wondering if I pay the $40 can I come and go throughout the whole day?

As far as I know; Yes, the $40.00 allows access through the day you are there. My wife and I were just there again last weekend and enjoyed the spa for our second trip. We did the Ultimate Couples Spa Day and then arranged to use the pool only for the next 2-days. It was great!!
