The Merritt Information Centre is located on the grounds of Baille House. My sister and I were geocaching in the area and one we were searching for took us to this historic site. The Nicola Valley Heritage Society welcomes visitors to Baille House during the months of May to September. Before touring the grounds, we asked the volunteer about geocaching and where we could find the necessary document to record our finds. She was very helpful about geotourism in the area and provided us with two volumes containing great information about geotourism adventures in Gold Country. She indicated that a third volume is being published and would be available in the near future. The grounds are well maintained and is dotted with large shade trees, colorful flowers, tables, chairs with an old-fashioned buggy sitting in one corner of the yard. After touring the house, barn, store and storage garage, we continued on our geotourism adventure.

Cycled into town and the rain started to come down pretty hard so we wandered to the visiter centre where we met Rachel. She was so helpful and then took us an amazing tour of the Baillie House! She was so much fun and so knowledgeable. She shared with us all the history pointed out neat things in the house and made it so much fun! We stayed in the house for so long laughing and learning so much from Rachel! Thanks again Rachel and it was definitely a highlight getting the tour from you!!! And thanks for the tips of where to have dinner it was a great pick! Oh - and the geocache info and walking tours!!! You are the best!

Stay away from this city. Don't spend your money there. Unhumane low life police officers. Let me out in the middle of no where. I was cold and without a jacket. They are to serve and protect? They are only there to serve themselves. I suggest no one should visit this sinking town. Let it sink. Officer pxnnxr doesn't deserve a uniform of a police officer. He deserves a uniform of a janitor.

We were looking for help for a local walk and the ladies were all very helpful and informative about the local area and the history of the buildings including the Baillie House. We were given coffee and a piece of pumpkin pie cake which was lovely. There were also local gifts and vintage items that you could purchase.
Visiting here made our stay in Merritt that much more memorable.

The Baillee House is a historic house turned into an info center in down town Merritt, and I am so glad we stopped in (for ice cream:). It is very beautiful, surrounded by gorgeous gardens, and filled with super friendly and helpful people who care for the property, and for out-of-towners. They fixed my sweet tooth, gave me a great tour (free of charge) and gave me some great ideas of things to see and do while in town.

Visited the bailie house and was greeted by very friendly volunteers that offered us a free drink and snack. The property has a cut little antique section and some old furniture for sale. The grounds are full of flowers and there are lots of places to relax! There is also lots of free tourist books and pamphlets!

We always drop by the Baillie House when travelling through Merritt. The staff are always friendly, helpful and informative. Don't be surprised if they offer you a coffee and freshly baked treat that has been dropped off by one of the local folk. Baillie House feels like a home away from home where you can check email, make a phone call and purchase some treasures from an array of new and old gift items.

We visited Baillie on a hot summers day and were totally blown away by the friendliness of the people. We enjoyed the property, its quirky and interestng. The garden is lovely and we spent a peaceful relaxing hour picnicing in the sunshine. We were continuously offered free refreshments, and everyone was so welcoming. This will be a regular stop for us :)
