The check in and briefing were quick but sufficient to ensure we had a safe experience. Despite it being an early and hot morning, the staff were pleasant and helpful. At the last minute we decided to rent a wakeboard from the shop across the street (none available through Pete's). My only disappointment was that the boat (Diamante VR5 Bayliner 20' Ski Boat) was underpowered (or under performing) for pulling up wakeboarders. With a boarder behind it struggled to get them out of the water and then up on plane with only 3 adults in the boat. The addition of wakeboarding was last minute so this is less of a complaint and more of a notice to check with the company and ask which boat they recommend if you plan to do watersports other than tubing.

Booked 1 Seadoo rental on a Monday about 4 hours prior to the actual rental time in August. The staff/crew is young, but super knowledgeable and friendly. I loved the ease of the online booking system. All the instructions, rules and included rentals were clear - we really only needed 1 hr on the seadoo - and we shared 1 (took turns driving etc), but the min 2 hrs rental does give you enough time to explore Lake Windermere and most importantly not go over you allotted time. We enjoyed looking at some of the beautiful real estate boarding the lake. 10/10 would book again!

Boat and tube in good condition and everything was on time.
Dock staff who checked us in was incredibly rude. Flew through instructions related to navigating specific landmarks on the lake all while referring to a map in his hand that we could not see then acted super irritated when we asked clarifying questions. Rather than answer our questions he got someone to lead us out of the dock on a seadoo, asked us to check off items on a list that we hadn't discussed, and sent us on our way. The rental was otherwise fine, but the experience at check in was pretty disrespectful. The staff member acted like we were 100% wasting his time and appeared to be wanting to get back to a team lunch?

Thank you for your review. I will raise these points you have discussed with the team at the waterfront. I encourage questions to ensure you, my client understands all the instructions, how to drive the unit, where to go and not go, etc.
Thank you again. This is very valuable to us.

For $500+ I would expect that you are getting something worth your time and effort. The rental experience was fine however the quality of gear was pretty bad. None of the life jackets fit, they give "universal" life jackets which are probably the cheapest ones they could find, along with the cheapest tube on the market. The tube was very small and way too easy to flip so whoever was riding it needed to come back to the boat to get on every time they fell off, aside from the fact it was leaking air the entire time we had it. The boat was pretty dinged up/dirty and had a really hard time starting.
Overall I would recommend traveling to a different lake and rent a boat somewhere they value safety. In an emergency situation the boats are ill equipped and when your life if on the line you don't want to gamble with boats that are poorly maintained and safety measures that are taken for granted.

We have rented boats here several times over the past 10 years. Our impression is that they genuinely strive to improve their service and have taken extraordinary steps to improve customer experience throughout the years. We rented a boat today and they now guide you from the launch deck and then arrange to meet you at the end of your time period and an experienced captain brings you back to the departure deck. This is presumably is in response to the muppets who fail to listen to instruction and who have caused prop damage over the years (also the same ones writing the negative reviews one would imagine). Boats well maintained, tube hire possible but unfortunately they no longer hire out skis which was our only negative concern. Overall a great day out and will come back happy - thanks all!

Rented a 24' pontoon boat for our 1st trip on Windermere Lake.
1st.. the staff. Absolutely awesome. For a bunch of young guys and girls, they are the reason this place is still running IMO. Helpful, friendly, mature and did their best with what they had to work with.
2nd.. the equipment. Very poorly maintained. The pontoon we had had many issues. Ladder clip was broken causing the ladder to be down and spraying water the whole time. The throttle would not stay where you put it. If you let go of the throttle it slowed excessively. This is not normal. The boat has a decent sized engine, yet couldn't get over 15MPH. That's fine, but not right. The cleanliness of the boat was unacceptable. I realize the fires and ash is one thing, but it was covered when we got there, yet the seats were excessively dirty. There was also garbage in some of the storage lockers. Things like this just doesn't make for a good optics. How hard is it to take it out of the water and into the car wash (100ft away) and give it a quick wash every couple weeks?
Just my 2 cents. Wish I had read some reviews because I probably wouldn't have rented the boat.
There's plenty of opportunity to do better, it just depends how bad the owners want to or care to. Just saying.

We rented a pontoon boat for a family outing and had a great time cruising the lake and tubing.
Our rating would have been higher except for a complaint about the preparation process. Our’s was the first rental of the day (10 am) and we had booked the boat for two hours. The booking email from Pete’s clearly said we were to be there 30 minutes ahead of the rental time. We were there at 9:25 but staff didn’t show up until 9:45. By the time we completed the paperwork, were outfitted with life preservers, boarded the boat and then went through the boat piloting instruction, it was after 10:10 before we were on the lake. We likely could have stayed out longer without issue from the staff given the late departure. But that wasn’t an option for us as one of our party had an appointment and had to be off the boat by noon. A complaint about ten minutes may seem trivial but it’s a significant portion of a two hour period when the total cost (rental and fuel) was close to $500.
I would recommend Pete’s Marina for recreational boat rental but I do hope they give greater consideration to their “first of the day” clients.

Jet skis are great fun and I’ve used them many times but I can’t help feel this place is a bit of a rip off.. 250 bucks for two hrs is expensive enough but to have to also pay for gas on top of that is a RIP OFF.. Also the fact that you’re forced to use it for a min of two hours is also a rip off.. I had an 8 yr old daughter with me and one hour would have been lots..
Won’t be using again..

The service is excellent at Pete’s Marina with knowledgeable and experienced staff. The lake was beautiful and calm. We toured around and enjoyed a picnic lunch we brought on board. Only one small point should be noted. The far end of the lake is very weedy and we were not advised of that fact. Luckily my hubby is an experienced boater having grown up on a lake. So he knew to raise the prop to clear it of any weeds. We promptly returned to the big Bay Area to complete our time. We would definitely return as it’s a very enjoyable way to spend a few hours! Thank you Pete’s Marina!

I am not a big water sports person and yet I had the time of my life. It was my first time on a sea doo and I had absolutely no idea of how fast they could go. I am assuming they have one of the nicest models since power is most definitely not lacking in these. The lake was nice and empty so we were able to rip down multiple times. It definitely is not cheap and the large deposit is not the most confident but it was definitely worth it!
