Chatter canceled my last tour. I think after spending over 50 days and $125,000 at Chatter I deserve a better explanation than “I was observed doing something unsafe”. By far the most dangerous thing I did at Chatter was do an entire run under the snow instead of on top of it. A guide from Wyoming thought the run was unsafe for more than 3 skiers so he followed the lead guides tracks instead of adding to the right as instructed. This action probably prevented him from setting off the big avalanche, although he narrowly escaped from being caught in the avalanche I set off. I think if the guide had pulled us from the hill after setting off a 2 ft deep avalanche, I could have avoided my near-death experience. By chance I avoided the large trees and escaped with only had 3 injuries. Luckily, I was fully buried on the cat track near another guest who was able to free himself and was able to dig me out. The tail guide went off searching for me without organizing a search or knowing if there were 1 or 5 skiers buried. I think if I got hung up ½ way down or there had been multiple full burials someone would have died.

We had an amazing guys trip at Chatter Creek, and can't wait to go back. The atmosphere is so casual and the surroundings so beautiful with a very well run operation. Food was outstanding, including accommodation of a food allergy. The skiing was epic. Can't wait to go back!

Food, staff, accommodations, guides, terrain are unbeatable. Cat skied here last year and will be leaving for my first sledding trip up to Chatter this weekend for my 40th bday.

I agree with the others so I won't repeat what they are saying except to say that when things go wrong you need not worry. I pulled or tore a hamstring (waiting for my MRI) and our guides Brody, Tim, and Dave were incredibly thorough, patient and efficient in their handling of the evacuation. Thank you for your professionalism.

CAVEAT: I don't recommend the terrain for snowboarders as there are a bunch of flats particularly in the alpine -- unless you are ok with slowing up the group or on a slower group....

Stayed at the Lodge during the 3rd week of April, as it was open for sledding. Rooms were extremely nice & the food was absolutely terrific. Nice little bar as well. Just a great all around atmosphere. The terrain for sledding was amazing. The lodge is basically situated in the middle of it all, so only minutes away in any direction from great experiences.

My nephew Pat put this trip together over the last days of December 2016. He's an insane skier with several avalanche courses under his belt. He said to me, "this is the place to go." At age 57, my skiing peaked thirty years ago. And although my wife, Karen is a great skier, my two teenage daughters are advanced intermediates. My concern was that we would slow down other skiers in our snow cat that were intent on getting maximum vertical. I need not worry. What I found was that Chatter Creek is such a supportive experience. The snow cats are custom, warm and cozy, and create an environment for people to be social. Maybe it's a Canadian thing, but everyone is so nice that it just rubs off on all the guests. The skiing is truly amazing but it's also an incredible/terrific experience. My eldest daughter told me, "Dad, you did it. I'm a skier for life!" My fourteen year old daughter was incredibly brave. She was one of the youngest girls ever. They said they have had younger boys, one 12 year old, but not many girls. Stefan, our guide, toasted my daughter the last day, and it was such a thrill for her. There's clearly a reason so many people go multiple times. . .On the other hand, there are many obstacles, including boulders, tree wells, and boulder crevasses. Many times I would stand on one side of a drop-off looking into a vast sea of powder and pillars (boulders covered in snow) knowing that I absolutely had to fully commit: Jump, go straight or have a nasty fall. And, you don't want to fall. The key to skiing Chatter Creek is to never fall because getting out of the deep snow zaps your strength. Be honest with yourself. If you're not up for a huge challenge best go somewhere else. And, if you have a family of motivated teenagers - go for it!

I've been going with a group of 24 people for the past 11 years and the level of service and the amenities is consistently off the charts. The food, accommodations, skiing, massage, stretch classes and beautiful scenery is 'to live for'.
