Chatter Creek has been an annual skiing pilgrimage for my friends and I since it opened in 2000. I have personally been ten years in a row and intend to continue do go until I can't ski anymore. Having grown up a ski racer and an avid recreation skier my whole life I know a thing or two about epic back country skiing and it is my opinion that Chatter delivers the perfect balance of awesome terrain and a safety first skiing program. Chatter is one of the few lodges that you fly to so once you are there you are totally disconnected. Yes the lodge has internet and yes they have a phone that guests can use but the overarching vibe of the place is one of unplug and have an amazing time. The staff are incredible and make the experience feel like it is run by a family. Many of the guides and lodge staff have been there since I started going and that says A LOT about an operation such as this. There is a killer hot tub, sauna, bar, games, killer drying room with dedicated lockers for each guest and so much more. The food is always outstanding and the rooms are super cozy with en suite bathrooms and all the amenities one could need. If you are looking for adventure and want to do it in style with the best guides and at a place with an impeccable reputation go to Chatter Creek - if you can get in...

It was my dream to get to Chatter Creek based on first seeing the guys in action here in a Warren Miller movie about 6 years ago. So to finally get here after much research and further referrals from many people, I was so so impressed with the experience start to finish.
I spent 3 days here in late January 2013 and I had a ball and got some of the best runs of my life.......I've only done a few cat skiing experiences and I'm so glad I was able to get a chance with the best of the best.
The terrain, the company, the lodge, the food, the cats, the bar and the rooms are all outstanding and what you would like to expect. However, what makes Chatter the bomb is the staff and their great casual, but engaging attitudes.
Our guide Steve, was a gun and did his job in a great professional and low key manner. Rachael was our tail guide and such a great sport. Another bonus was Dylan and his photography skills the that comes to the floor on one of the days for your groups tour.
I was with a great group of people on the tour and in my cat, all a few years order than me, but everyone's ability and attitude ensured us that we all had a great time whilst maximising the runs. By default it's also a great business and casual networking opportunity across the 36 guests.

I've been fortunate enough to visit many remote sports fishing (NZ, Northern Territory & The Great Barrier Reef) and surfing lodges (Maldives & Indo) and experiences over the years with my job and with friends, and I must say this was the best of all by far. I put this down to the snow, the lodge, importantly the terrain but definitely the great team of staff also.

Thanks to Dale, Jodie and the team for bringing this all together.
I'll be there every year from here on in, hopefully twice a year if I can.

THE BEST!...but don't tell anyone.......

Hope this helps.

Cheers...Greg

My partner and I spent four days at Chatter Creek late March/early April 2012 and were blown away at the quality of the trip. First of all, guests are flown in by helicopter - how cool is that? Greeted with delectable apres-ski snacks, we were instantly at ease in the comfy lodge. The dinners were all superb, with great service and delicious courses. The four days of skiing were the best of our lives. There was something for everyone, and lots of deep, fluffy snow for all. We had a photographer on hand for a few of the days to capture the experience, and we couldn't resist buying the images so we could re-live the trip. The rooms were well-appointed and comfortable, and the bar was well-stocked. The lodge manager Charlie kept everyone happy and well taken care of, and we were lucky enough to be there for his birthday!

I highly recommend cat skiing at Chatter Creek Mountain Lodge. I can't wait to go back!

Chatter canceled my last tour. I think after spending over 50 days and $125,000 at Chatter I deserve a better explanation than “I was observed doing something unsafe”. By far the most dangerous thing I did at Chatter was do an entire run under the snow instead of on top of it. A guide from Wyoming thought the run was unsafe for more than 3 skiers so he followed the lead guides tracks instead of adding to the right as instructed. This action probably prevented him from setting off the big avalanche, although he narrowly escaped from being caught in the avalanche I set off. I think if the guide had pulled us from the hill after setting off a 2 ft deep avalanche, I could have avoided my near-death experience. By chance I avoided the large trees and escaped with only had 3 injuries. Luckily, I was fully buried on the cat track near another guest who was able to free himself and was able to dig me out. The tail guide went off searching for me without organizing a search or knowing if there were 1 or 5 skiers buried. I think if I got hung up ½ way down or there had been multiple full burials someone would have died.

I agree with the others so I won't repeat what they are saying except to say that when things go wrong you need not worry. I pulled or tore a hamstring (waiting for my MRI) and our guides Brody, Tim, and Dave were incredibly thorough, patient and efficient in their handling of the evacuation. Thank you for your professionalism.

CAVEAT: I don't recommend the terrain for snowboarders as there are a bunch of flats particularly in the alpine -- unless you are ok with slowing up the group or on a slower group....

My nephew Pat put this trip together over the last days of December 2016. He's an insane skier with several avalanche courses under his belt. He said to me, "this is the place to go." At age 57, my skiing peaked thirty years ago. And although my wife, Karen is a great skier, my two teenage daughters are advanced intermediates. My concern was that we would slow down other skiers in our snow cat that were intent on getting maximum vertical. I need not worry. What I found was that Chatter Creek is such a supportive experience. The snow cats are custom, warm and cozy, and create an environment for people to be social. Maybe it's a Canadian thing, but everyone is so nice that it just rubs off on all the guests. The skiing is truly amazing but it's also an incredible/terrific experience. My eldest daughter told me, "Dad, you did it. I'm a skier for life!" My fourteen year old daughter was incredibly brave. She was one of the youngest girls ever. They said they have had younger boys, one 12 year old, but not many girls. Stefan, our guide, toasted my daughter the last day, and it was such a thrill for her. There's clearly a reason so many people go multiple times. . .On the other hand, there are many obstacles, including boulders, tree wells, and boulder crevasses. Many times I would stand on one side of a drop-off looking into a vast sea of powder and pillars (boulders covered in snow) knowing that I absolutely had to fully commit: Jump, go straight or have a nasty fall. And, you don't want to fall. The key to skiing Chatter Creek is to never fall because getting out of the deep snow zaps your strength. Be honest with yourself. If you're not up for a huge challenge best go somewhere else. And, if you have a family of motivated teenagers - go for it!

It really is kind of silly to write a review of Chatter. If you are an experienced skier, you're already on the wait list. This will be the 5th year in a row for me, my son and my daughter in law. I'll be 60 next summer. I hope and expect I'll still be skiing at Chatter when I'm 70. A reality check: as a friend of mine who skied Chatter last year said, "Better put on your big boy pants to ski this place."

I spent a week up at Chatter Creek doing an Avalanche course with staff and Search and Rescue personnel from Golden SAR and the US and Canadian military. It is an amazing place, surrounded by a huge area to play in. The lodge at various times of year offers cat skiing, heli skiing and sledding. Several big film companies shot footage here, and many groups come in to shot for magazines etc, when you get up here you will see why.... can I say amazing again? I can't wait to get back up here to go play in the snow.

We had an amazing guys trip at Chatter Creek, and can't wait to go back. The atmosphere is so casual and the surroundings so beautiful with a very well run operation. Food was outstanding, including accommodation of a food allergy. The skiing was epic. Can't wait to go back!

Stayed at the Lodge during the 3rd week of April, as it was open for sledding. Rooms were extremely nice & the food was absolutely terrific. Nice little bar as well. Just a great all around atmosphere. The terrain for sledding was amazing. The lodge is basically situated in the middle of it all, so only minutes away in any direction from great experiences.
