About
Ranked in Canada's Top 100 Courses, the Wildstone Golf Course is the first Black Knight Course by Gary Player Design to be built on Canadian soil. This incredibly well conditioned and player friendly course is set on the rolling highlands above the city of Cranbrook, BC where hole after hole golfers are treated to stunning postcard views of the Canadian Rockies. The course plays from 7,127 yards from the back tees and 4,947 from the front. The attention to detail in the design of the course is obvious. Generous landing areas from the variety of five tee boxes, closely mown green surrounds that allow for a variety of of short game options, well placed white sand bunkers and elegantly contoured greens that put a premium on approach shot accuracy are just some of the reasons that the course has received a 4.5 Star Golf Experience rating.Design: Black Knight Course by Gary Player Design Opened: 2011Par: 72 (37 Out, 35 In)Greens: A4/T1 Bentgrass Fairways: Kentucky Bluegrass.

If 4 (average golfers) would have known, we were expected to play this course in 3.5 hours or less we would have asked for a refund and gone elsewhere. Hounded by the marshal to speed up was not the Kootenay experience we were looking for. Finished in 4 hours. Card says 4.5 is average.
We will not return.

We return each season for a few rounds of great golf. There are many options from super challenging to leisurely round to fit your golfing ability. The staff is super friendly . The course continues to improve every year and is in pristine condition.
Wildstone has a great driving range with a spectacular view of the Rockies. A beautiful chipping and sand practice green. The putting green is also large and well maintained. You could spend a few hours just practicing your game.
The course was pristine from every tee box , every fairway, the fringe, the cart paths all superb. The greens are large and challenging and well manicured. White soft sand bunkers. A great course all around.

We played with a couple of Canadians at another course who said you must play Wildstone. They were not wrong .So glad we did . The road in and facilities are not great but what a wonderful surprise when you get on the course . Friendly and helpful staff , and such a great great golf course. Beautiful fairways and greens . Can’t say enough except do your self a huge favour and take the time to play it .

Fairways were well maintained and greens were adequately defended. Staff were pleasant, food was fair and drinks were cold. My only complaint was the driving range being down hill. It's difficult to get a feel for distance when driving balls down a slope.

We played Wildstone at the start and finish of our golf trip to Couer d'Alene.
Love the Gary Player design. NIce wide fairways and the traps all seem to be in the right places. Large greens with lots of undulations. They are sometimes hard to read but the speed seems to be just right. Every hole has something different.
We played in early June and the course was in great shape.
Has a small clubhouse with limited menu.

Thank you very much for the great review of Wildstone! It's great to hear that you enjoyed the course and appreciated the overall design. Putts have a tendency to break towards the Rocky Mountains...hope this helps for your next visit. Hope to see you again!

Although this is a Gary Player Course, we were very disappointed. We played with another couple in our foursome and we all come to the conclusion that this should not be for normal golfers (our handicapped ranged from 7-19) the greens were very difficult, could not hold a putt. The fairways were in pretty good condition, but the outside rought areas are very dry and loose dirt and fill is everywhere, unfinished construction and we ate alot of dirt and was in our eyes. Not real pleasant. But, the views are unbelievable, so there were alot of positives.

We played here on the recommendation of another golf course and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
The course was well groomed and in fantastic condition....and the sand bunkers are large and beautiful and filled with silky, soft white sand.
Although it is a fairly long course there are multiple T-boxes to suit all levels of golfers.
The fairways are wide and forgiving and we particularly enjoyed the fact that there are no blind holes at this course....but there is a nice mixture of challenging holes with large, undulating greens.
We had a funtastic round of golf at this spectacular hidden gem of a course!

I am from Alberta, but my parents live in Cranbrook and I get to play this course at least a couple times a year. This is one of my favorite courses, the course has always been in impeccable shape. The staff has always been friendly. The scenery is beautiful as has been all courses I've played in the area.

The clubhouse is small, and temporary looking. I believe this is because it IS temporary. That said, they still have a proshop and have a kitchen. So can't really complain about a temporary clubhouse that STILL offers all the usual services. It is very important to note that even though the clubhouse is small and temporary looking, the actual golf course is FAR from that. Absolutely beautiful course.

To the review that complained that you need to hit a long ball to play this course. There is a reason (most) golf courses have multiple tee's. Perhaps you need to try a forward tee. I personally found this course was very nice to play and I am far from a scratch golfer as well.

One of the best things about this course, is how affordable this course is for how good it is. It is a steal of a deal, and everyone should try.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review of the course. I agree, Wildstone is one of my favourites also and as you mentioned with five sets of tees you can play a yardage that best suits your game. I'm very happy to hear that it's a steal of a deal, we always want to provide great value, exceptional course conditions and friendly service. Look forward to seeing you again on your next visit.

Course was great, but the greens were really soft, lots of divots to fix. Staff very nice, wish the clubhouse was as nice as the course. Easy scoring course, good for the ego!

Thank you very much for the great review of Wildstone and also for fixing the extra ball marks on the greens. I like to hear that you scored well and that the course was good for your ego. Hope to see you again.
