Great spot for a meal. There are picnic tables and bathrooms on site. Great view. There was ample parking and it's family and pet friendly.

We locals want this beach to ourselves for swimming, paddling, sunning, and tranquility. If you do visit, please leave it a bit better than you found it. And don’t tell anyone!

After a long day in the sun, needed a swimming spot to cool off with kids.

Busy, not too much beach area to sit/set up. Could see that it fills up on a busy day both beach and parking lot.

Gopher holes everywhere, so watch your step. Gophers are not timid so watch your snacks! Saw a bald eagle looking for gopher snacks.

Nice place to go and relax. You have the option of going through the trails or go for a swim in the lake.

Outhouse does not have hand sanitizers

Highly recommend it!

We ( 3 families) drove from Calgary without booking and the plan was to camp in Norbury lake campground. No spots were available in Norbury but the park attendant was kind enough to direct us to Jimsmith. We arrived at Jimsmith on June 29th at 1:00 pm, there were 9 spots still available.
The camping area is beautiful. No modern washrooms but well stocked outhouses, running water, nice lake, you can swim, canoe, kayak, fish (bass and rainbow)etc. No motorized vessels. The lake is a loon nesting spot so prepare to hear the amazing loon in early mornings. Have a good camera since a variety of birds and mammals visit the lake. A few trails to explore. Very close to the town of Cranbrook yet tucked away in the forest.
A few things that need to be mentioned: no showers, no recycling ( take your recycling with you or throw it away in the garbage), no Purell in the outhouses, they run out of wood for camp fire so we had buy it from town.
Highly recommended for families with kids.

Intended to stay for 1-2 nights, but extended to 4 nights for many reasons. First, the campground is great. Clean, sunny, quiet, and close to town. Second, the park operators were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Finally, the lake and feel of the area made it a wonderful stay. Site #10 was our favorite. If you stay, make sure you get into town and bike the North Star and Chief Isadore trails. Fantastic.

This has a nice treed campsite with large sites offering some privacy. There are no showers or flush toilets. It has a nice little beach for kids and the lake is great for kayaks and canoes.
