Just to add a different perspective I am far removed from an experienced bucket list fisherman, more of an outright amateur that enjoys the occasional fishing trip for the beers & banter with the boys but I've always wanted to go and do something a little bit special. James Fisher & the 3 day Tahsis trip absolutely blew the roof off. Whilst I was a big pommie fish out of water James was the safe pair of hands with the experience to make me feel like a pro. The fishing & setting was out of this world and would state with confidence if you're after the big fish you'll be hard pushed to find a better place never mind the right guide to go home very happy. Whilst I have little reference I went with a few local buddies from Vancouver who have fished all over Canada who were equally as blown away. We stayed in a boutique resort where the 4 of us stayed in a lodge an hour in the boat from Tahsis so we were totally isolated & a few minutes from the fishing grounds to ensure the downtime was nearly as magical as the fishing. Thank you James you lived up to your surname

Don’t hesitate to book a fishing adventure with James! He was an incredible guide and made our experience unforgettable. Right from the start he cared about our experience and for a non fisher- person, I would totally book again with him. He even made sure we got a great view of seeing a nearby whale. He was knowledgable, safe, fun and really made our adventure the best we could have asked for. Thank you James for the best day, we will be talking about this for years!

This was our second charter with James and we can’t recommend him highly enough. He runs a clean boat where safety is foremost, and does everything he can to ensure that he puts you on the fish and have a great time. James is both knowledgeable and extremely approachable, and his skill as a teacher will have even the greenest of fishermen feeling confident by the end of their trip. We’re already looking to book for next year!

James knows the waters and is super knowledgeable. He has so many contacts in the area and will do whatever he can to put you on the fish. He runs a very clean boat, makes sure you are safe and is great company. And, if you get a double header, you'll get to see his salmon dance.

We have used James a few times now and every time our young son has a blast. Great guide, very comfortable and dry boat, top of the line gear. Even if the salmon aren't running James knows where to find us fish. Highly recommend!

James Fisher (fish@fishersadventures.com) offers guided fishing trips on his boat in the Esperanza Inlet/Nootka Sound area of British Columbia. The area offers extraordinary fishing for King and Silver Salmon, Halibut and Ling Cod. James has fished these waters for years. He is smart, much more worldly than many fishing guides and a good guy to spend time with. Importantly, he is very safety conscious and he has a great 24-½ ft. aluminum boat that is fast, spotless and comfortable. His fishing gear is first rate and there is no need to bring any fishing equipment.

There are two good options for where to stay if you fish with James. There are a few inexpensive but fully furnished housekeeping cabins across from the Newton Cove Resort. James can tell you when they are available, the price and how to reserve them. If you do that, you bring your own food, rubber boots and rain gear. The other option is to stay at the Newton Cove Resort, which is a top notch Lodge that does a great job (see my separate review). We have fished with James and stayed at the Newton Cove Resort twice and both trips were excellent. We hope to do it again.

James Fisher, owner and guide for Fisher's Adventures is the pinnacle of fishing guides. His first focus is on safety. He always plans an exit strategy in case the weather/ water turn for the worst, which gives peace of mind to even the most uneasy passenger. Once this is accomplished, he puts the boat on the fish you want. One day, we left the lodge @ 5:30 AM, headed offshore to hook into some Salmon. There were 4 of us fishing and by 11AM we had caught our limit of Chinook and caught a few Coho as a bonus. That wasn't enough for us, so we asked him to put us onto some Halibut, so he did. By 1:30 PM, we had our limit of Halibut as well. Best day of fishing I (we) had ever experienced. For the next day, I asked James to put me on a Red Snapper as I'd never caught one before. He drove the boat to location, dropped the gear and in 10 minutes I pulled one into the boat. This guy knows what he is doing. Aside from all of this, James is fun and allows his clients to have fun as well. We made up silly dances, took funny pictures and laughed and joked a lot. This year was my first time on James boat, and am going to book him for next year and years to come after that. You will not find a better guide, meteorologist, biology professor, conservationist or friend anywhere except at Fisher's Adventures. You will not be disappointed, it is money well spent. Memories like my group shared are priceless.

James took us out last year, he is such a knowledgeable guide, he knows when the fish bite and why, and that knowledge is what limited us out in a matter of hours, the biggest one I caught was 37lbs and the everage of the rest were 25+, we ate like camps that night and it's all because of fishers island adventures, highly recommended A++++++, well be making a trip every year and booking with james,

Just returned from a fishing trip in the Esperanza Inlet/Nootka Sound Area.
We engaged James Fisher as our guide and what a good decision that was.
We fished hard for 2 1/2 days and limited out each day on Chinook, Halibut and Ling Cod. Very few of the boats at our lodge were limiting out.
James pays attention to detail and it pays off for his clients. He runs a roomy, stable and comfortable boat. His equipment is well maintained

This trip started off as a bucket list item. It was so good that it has to become a yearly event!

Three years ago I wanted to give my husband a special retirement gift. A guided fishing trip seemed to be the best idea. I approached a couple of his buddies, did some research and followed up on a personal recommendation......"Fishers Island Adventures" James made the planning easy........suggesting dates and accommodations. I appreciated his prompt and polite responses by email.
James provides a first class boat and top of the line gear. My husband was impressed with how organized and clean James keeps his boat.
The guys have returned every year since, they tried different accommodations over the years but the one thing they won't waver on is their guide.....James is personable, knowledgeable and considered a friend.
Since this has become an annual event, we have a planning get together prior to the fishing trip, then following the trip we have a fish feast! This is where we hear all the stories, the guys really have a good time and look forward to this adventure each year.
Thank you James.....you are the best!
See you next year........Curly's Crew
