We are a family run adventure tourism company based out of the beautiful Brown’s Bay Resort just 19km north of Campbell River. We specialize in small group adventures! Our Transport Canada certified 30' aluminum vessel is partially covered and offers plenty of room to get up and stretch your legs! Campbell River is quickly becoming the biggest hotspot for Whale Watching on Vancouver Island. Our scenery and wildlife are unlike no other, and it is not uncommon to see Orca, Humpbacks, Dolphins, Bears, Eagles and Seals/Sea Lions all on one tour! We offer tours for the whole family, including whale watching and dolphin tours, Coastal Adventure Wildlife Tours, Sunset Tours, Seymour Narrow Tours and private charters! Contact us today to book!

This was a private trip for my husband and me so when the skipper asked what we wanted to see we were able to be very clear - Orcas! (We had seen humpback whales the previous week, including one breaching, but no orcas. He delivered in spades with several pods and we experienced a great pod of dolphins swimming alongside the boat as well. Great sandwich lunch.

This was one of the best experiences of my life. Hands down. Before we even boarded the boat we saw harbour seals, we saw a black bear within ten minutes, we saw sealions, Dall’s porpoise jumping in our wake. We saw orca, and while we were wstching the orca a humpback whale appeared. We had an incredible lunch on Stuart Island and were treated to a humpback in the bay. More orca, dolphins…it was a thrill a minute. Josh was so knowledgeable, the landscape and scenery was stunning. Memories of this day will stay with me for the rest of my life. Thank you so much is all I can say.

we booked the sunset tour. it was a very small boat in a small group which i found very pleasant. the skipper was very nice and tried hard throughout the tour to see a whale. unfortunately we weren't lucky this time - that's nature and it makes things more exciting. instead, the skipper told us a lot about wrecks lying on the bottom and led us to the whirlpools, which was very interesting. the good weather and the sunset rounded it all off - a very successful tour.

We had an amazing experience with Discovery West. Josh and Chelsea were great hosts, very passionate, knowledgeable and just fun to be with! We saw orcas, humpbacks and harbour seals on our Sunset Tour. Next time we will go for the full day whale watching tour! Absolutely recommend!

Josh was friendly and very knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife we saw. (Orca, Humpbacks and sealions). He was patient with the hundreds of questions our son asked! We had a great time and would recommend using Discovery West Adventures without hesitation.

Josh was very knowledgable and fun to be with. He was willing to take us wherever we wanted to go.
The kids loved the bingo game. And of course the rewards that came with it. It was greatly appreciated that my granddaughters coeliac condition was taken into account when providing snacks.
The boat was very comfortable and it was nice that it had a covered area in which we could hide away when necessary.
An altogether wonderful day.

Words seem inadequate to express our great and genuine appreciation for the awesome adventure Josh provided us. He’s so very knowledgable, interesting and sensed exactly what we wanted. He patiently and accurately answered ever question I had !! I apologized to friends for posting so many photos, but our involvement was wonderfully unique on his boat, plus on the walk and climb to the top of Ripple Rock Hike Lookout !! Though we vacationed in the area many times, exploring/experiencing this was a long time bucket list item for me.

Can I obtain the 6 hour whale watching tour whilst staying in a hotel in Vancouver ? If so how would I arrive to board the boat?

Thanks so much for your inquiry :)
We’d love to have you join us for a tour, but unfortunately it wouldn’t be possible for you in Vancouver as a day trip.
You would need to take a ferry to Nanaimo and from there we are about an hour and a half drive north. I’m not sure how flexible your timing is but the best thing to do would be to try and come to Vancouver Island for a couple of days. We are based at Brown’s Bay Resort which has several different accommodation options for you to choose from.
