I was so excited to take this tour, a very profound experience. I am fascinated by grizzly bears, we were so close to a huge wild animal with no bars or barriers. It was thrilling and yet I felt quite safe with our guides Leon and Roger. They were very alert and knowledgeable of grizzly bears.
We had a good boat trip up the inlet and arrived at the logging camp. So remote! Then we went by bus up the river to the viewing stations. The first bear we saw walked right past us and was actually only a few feet away, but below. We were lucky to see “Scarface”, who startled a younger bear away from it’s salmon. We watched them and then left for another station where we startled a mother with 2 - 2 or 3 year old cubs. We watched them for a while while they wandered away.
We returned for a light lunch on the dock and then got back in the boat for the ride home past the gorgeous waterfall. On the second day we stopped there for a jump in the ocean which was also a thrill. Cold but not horrible. The weather was 32 degrees and sunny, so it was perfect. On the way back we looked at pictographs and then we saw a mother humpback with her calf. They were there both days, so it was wonderful.

I have done a grizzly tour each year for the last few years, but this was my first time for the Toba Inlet grizzly tour. Stuart was our Klahoose guide and he did a great job finding bears for us to view and answering questions from guests. Toba Inlet is beautiful and the 6 grizzlies we saw (or possibly the same few bears in multiple locations lol) were stunning, healthy bears. Definitely recommend this tour!

We visited the Klahoose Coastal Adventures grizzly viewing tour via the Campbell River Whale Watching boat and I highly recommend both! Our guide, Stuart, met us at the top of Toba inlet for a short bus ride and 3 hour grizzly viewing adventure. He was both humorous and knowledgeable. I loved that his father had lived in the area at one time and that he had been guiding for about a decade.
We saw numerous grizzly bears in our time up Toba Inlet and Stuart added to our experience with his own stories of bear encounters and photos. He seemed extremely apologetic to have to drag us away from amazing bear watching of 2 grizzlies when he knew another tour group was waiting for him.
I highly recommend booking a tour that uses the Klahoose Nation and Stuart.

I went out with Campbell River Whale Watching and Klahoose Coastal Adventures at the end of September 2020. The trip to Toba inlet was absolutely amazing the scenery was stunning as we entered the inlet. Seeing the waterfalls was a highlight of the trip for sure! Once we arrived at Toba we were greeted by our Klahoose guide, the bear viewing experience was amazing we saw bears at every platform and were able to see them fishing and eating salmon. Our guides were very knowledgable and shared interested facts about the bears we were seeing. The viewing platforms were very well placed and allowed for excellent safe viewing! All in all it was an absolutely amazing day and I will treasure the memories forever!

We were only a few minutes out of Campbell River Whale Watching and Adventure Tours dock, and rounding the south end of Quadra Island when we saw our first few Humpback Whales. Stephen, our captain, slowed the boat and shut the engine off. We could hear their blowing and, at times, even smell their breath.
We carried on through the Discovery Islands and eventually came upon a pod of Orca Whales. Again, Stephen, cut the motor and allowed us to drift amongst the moving pod. He knew the names, ages and history of the pod family.
Arriving at the Klahoose Coastal Adventures dock at the head of Toba Inlet we were greeted by Benny, who was to be our guide. We were given a briefing on the Grizzly Bears, safety and necessary conduct during the tour.
We boarded a comfortable bus for a short ride to the first of several established observation platforms along the Klite River.
We first stopped on a bridge where we could see three bears moving along the river. Then we moved to the first platform where Benny kept us in the bus for a while because a bear had left the river and was walking along a trail right beside the platform to move further downstream.
Benny had told us he grew up fishing and guiding on the coastal inlets and had been around these bears for about 30 years. He was very watchful, not only for the bear behaviour, but also for his guest's photo opportunities and overall experience.
We stayed at the first platform for maybe an hour. Then we moved to another platform and stayed there for about two hours. I lost count how many bears we saw moving up and down the river, fishing, catching and eating the salmon. Benny was always the first to see one coming.
The platforms were very sturdy and quite large allowing for comfortable spacing and room for the guests to move their camera equipment around. I wouldn't be able to guess the value of cameras and lenses on that tour but they were impressive.
Moving back to the dock we were provided a lunch and one of the guides played a drum and sang a traditional song.
The boat ride back to Campbell River was just as exciting as the trip out. More close up whales and some frolicking sea lions.
The tour captains stay in touch with each other and fishermen on the water to keep track of where the whales and other coastal life are.
Between the boat ride and the bear tour it's really two adventures in one.
This was our second bear tour. And we'll definitely be going back.

from the first contact on line getting information to the end of the day this tour was an outstanding day !! Cheyenne and Steve were amazing through out the day. the day started with seeing a small humpback 5 mins from leaving the dock. after rounding the southern tip of Quadra Isl we were gifted the best Sunrise i have ever seen with more humpbacks feeding. the 2.5 hr trip to Toba was fabulous .
To view Grizzlys in their natural habitat fishing for salmon was an honor. i can not say enough about this tour , well organized, not rushed, small groups, well narrated by local guides that know the history of the area and how to take care of guests
thank you , thank you thank you for this incredible day with you and the wildlife

Our group had a wonderful day watching the grizzlies in a very nice setting. The raised platforms that we used made it easy to observe these magnificent creatures in safety for them and us. Thanks to our guides for a great day.
