I'll start by saying that I'm a huge wildlife lover. With that said, I anticipated that the trip with Aboriginal Journeys would be the highlight of my trip to Vancouver Island. Boy was I right! I recall thinking on the long boat ride to the land of the bears that the beauty of the boat ride was well worth the... More

Four of us, three from Scotland and one from Switzerland, joined Garry and Ken for a truly remarkable adventure. The day began in Campbell River, on Vancouver Island, and from there by fast boat through the islands in the Salish Sea and up Toba Inlet on the mainland. In total we saw nine grizzlies, several as near as twenty metres,... More

A great adventure on a beautiful day. The Captain Knew his business as well as having lots of facts/information about tides, whales, Orcas, Eagles, migrating salmon, etc. We certainly found the Orcas, Eagles and enjoyed the ocean rapids. A perfect day with my adult son.

What. A. Day!! We spent about five hours at the viewing sites and had bears (and bald eagles) in sight for almost every minute. Garry's developed his operation in partnership with Native Canadians and goes to a quieter area than other tour companies, to avoid having an impact on the animals. The result is not just lower negative eco-impact but... More

Just returned from a wonderful trip with Gary. We travelled in a comfortable and warm undercover boat to the viewing areas. Saw a female bear with two cubs as well as a number of single bears. Mainly grizzly bears but also a black bear. Gary is very informative and it was a very enjoyable trip. We were close enough to... More

Excellent day with Garry. We ended up seeing around 18 bears in total with three sets of Cubs and two boars fighting. Garry was very knowledgable every step of the way and was able to answer all my questions on the wildlife front no problems at all. The aboriginal/native aspect of the tour was nice also and we a native... More

From the moment Gary introduced himself until we docked on our return an unforgettable experience. Really enjoyed the boat trip out with great tales from Gary to entertain all, with lots of detailed information to boot. Visibility not great and rain teeming down but good covered accommodation, comfortable ride and only 65 miles each way! Thought we wouldn't see anything... More

We were lucky enough to choose what must be best Grizzly viewing experience possible in Aboriginal Journeys Toba Inlet Day trip. The quality of bear encounters that occurred during day was quite amazing. The small size of the group that travelled from Campbell River to the Klahoose people's logging camp at the head of the Toba Inlet contributed to the... More

We took a grizzly bear tour which also became a whale watching tour! We LOVED Captain Garry and his knowledge and his absolute commitment to the animals and the first people. We spent forever watching a mother grizzly and her two babies catch salmon and eat them. The cubs played in and out of the water of the river and... More
