Absolutely spectacular! Garry was a wonderful guide. He taught us so much about the land, ocean and animals. The boat was comfortable with indoor seating plus a deck to stand on for viewing. We were lucky to see five orcas, sea lions and some eagles. As we were viewing orcas from a distance one orca surprised us by popping up beside us to say hello. It was super surprising and exciting that the orca showed themselves to us. Garry has been doing these tours for 23 years and has fished these waters his whole life - he has the local knowledge and it shows. Fabulous experience!!!

This tour was one of the highlights of our 14 trip trough West-Canada. Garry is a great guide, with a lot of experience and knowlegde about the surrounding waters. We booked a 3,5 hour whale & whildlife tour and saw some seals, eagles and dolphins. However, at the end of the tour he got a message some orca's and humpback whales were spotted 1 hour away from our path. He offered the possibility to extend the tour to a 5 hour one (with some small compensation for the extra fuel used) so we could have a chance to see a pod of orca's. He went out of his way to provide us the most beautiful viewes of those creatures. It is clear he really wants his customers to have the best experience. We ended up getting a 5,5 hour tour with beautiful shots of both orca's and whales. Of course, this was a one time thing because of the orca's that were spotted. It does show Garry is very passionate and wants his customers to have the best time! All in all, would certainly recommend!

There are several boat tours available from Campbell River but after doing some research we chose the 5 hour Wildlife & Adventure trip with Aboriginal Adventure Tours. We met on dock G at 10.30 for a safety briefing and our guide, Gary, gave us an outline of the tour and route using interactive tools. There is a maximum group size of 12 which is ideal for everyone to have a clear view from their seats in the boat. The boat was very clean and comfortable but also powerful enough to cover a significant distance during the tour time. When the boat was stationary, there was also a rear viewing platform that you could use to get some great photo opportunities. Gary has exceptional local knowledge and is a very experienced Captain. He gave a very informative commentary, pointed out landmarks, local points of interest, shared details of the area’s culture and took us to some breathtaking spots. On top of all this, on our tour we saw Pacific white-sided dolphins, Stellar sea-lions, orcas, humpback whales and eagles. What was particularly great, is that Gary was able to identify and share the names of some of the resident orcas we saw. Gary also used a hydrophone and to hear the Orca communicating via the boat’s speaker system was unbelievably moving. Lunch is included on this tour and consisted of individually wrapped sandwiches and cookies so it was very convenient and hygienic (the sandwiches were excellent – see my review on Steiner Bakery for more details). Gary uses the word "beautiful" a lot, and with the sights and wildlife he was able to share with us, it's easy to see why. The memories from this tour will stay with us for a lifetime and we’d have no hesitation recommending this tour for anyone looking for a great day trip in the Campbell River area.

We had an amazing day and definitely recommend Aboriginal Journeys! Gary shared many explanations and stories thanks to his extensive experience. We saw orcas, humpback whales, sealions and different species of birds and enjoyed them even more thanks to Gary finding good spots to take nice pictures. This day was truly amazing and will remain the best memory of our honeymoon!
