A lovely mixture of nature watching and learning about native culture and history from people who have lived it and are living it. We visited the village on a remote inlet where both the captain and our tour guide were born and raised, and heard personal stories while walking among the remains of that village. On the way back we spotted whales and seals. It was heartbreaking to hear of all the different ways in which Canada's government and white settlers have actively dispossessed the Homalco tribe (like so many other tribes), and to make the connection with the experiences of real people standing before us, pushing through embarassment because they feel it is important to share what really happened. We are grateful to have been on this very personal journey , and it was heartwarming to hear of the many ways, big and small, in which this tribe is reclaiming its place in the area, rebuilding itself with small enterprises and finding back its customs and its pride. Janet in particular is a guide and a person for whom I have the deepest respect. I would have loved to go on a bear hunt too, if only time and money hadn't run short.

The whole thing was amazing. Well organized, easy, and friendly staff. Comfortable boat ride, and great lunch. The stop at the island was a great experience.

Several humpbacks, sleeping ones even!, we saw the sought-after tails as well as sealions, seals, eagles, cormorans and more birds - a great boattour with captain Flavian and oceanlife expert Mairi, a professional duo at our service. (They were so pleasant, explaining and answering questions without annoying us with too much information, as it happens so often). We had a wonderful time, beautyful sunny views on the distant and close by mountains, islands, rocks and sea. Thanks to the team!

Did Homalco Whales, Wildlife and Culture Tour. We were very deceived by the tour. Our guide said she had sinus problem and could not talk much. During our tour we had no explanations about wildlife nor informaton about Homalco Culture. We were not very luck as we saw only one whale at the end of the tour. I understand that the captain cannot guarantee what we will see, but at least if he could have provided information during the trip it would have rendered the 4 hours tour more interesting. The watercraft was new and well equiped but I would not recommed this company as there is no added value in term of culture that was provided. it is simply a boat tour with very nice sceneries mainly in the last hour of the tour.

This was the most amazing day ever! My family and I did not know what to expect but we’re looking forward to learning about First Nation culture and marine life around the islands. But wow, within the first two minutes after we set out, we saw our first whale in the distance! Our guides Mari and Ron the did a great job telling us about birds, seals (we saw plenty of both). Ron quietly took us around the smooth waters around the many islands and we kept our eyes out for spouts. Ron knew all the tricks to finding them and we were delighted to multiple humpbacks spouting and breaching. The best part of the day took us by total surprise. We were just starting to head back when all of a sudden two humpbacks popped up at the front of the boat. We all had to be very quiet but you literally could hear them breathing. Ron was amazed and said that a sighting like this never happens. We felt so lucky! We will definitely be back again to go on another Homalco tour. I recommend them 100% You will not be disappointed. Thank you Homalco!1 P.S. A special thanks to Mari who recommended an excellent restaurant in Courtenay (Atlas). The Homalco tour and dinner in Courtenay were the best way to spend our last day of vacation!
