This is well worth the short drive out of Drumheller to see. The views across the bad lands are spectacular and for any budding geologist this is a fantastic opportunity to see some of the history of the land.

An unreal hiking experience, looks daunting for kids, but as long as you have a good navigator, it's a wonderful place to just explore! A must see!

Great view of this natural wonder in the Bandlands of Alberta. Great place to go for a hike . The parking lot is only meters from the edge of the canyon where you can see for miles and miles.

Beautiful views and a nice hike down in the canyon. Can be slippery if muddy. We enjoyed this. We had two dogs with us and they enjoyed the hike down also.

Tip 1: Arrive early to avoid buses with load of people in front of you. Tip 2: You will have plenty of space to take photos from up the hill. Take one hour (at least 30 minutes) to go down the trail and climb the hills. You will have a very different view than from uphill.

We stopped here on our way out, not far from town.... great views, an overlook into the canyon, examples of the badlands.... Questionable trails leading down which we didn't take, just wanted to see the views. Worth a quick stop.

Little bit out of town, worth the trip! So gorgeous. It was cold when we were there and very windy, cannot wait to go back on a milder day and spend hours exploring this place.

We enjoyed this hike with our ten year old son. Bring water. Easy access parking right off the highway. This wasn't nearly as busy as I expected. If you have to choose one thing to do in the area though, I'd go to the hoodoos over this canyon.

Took an afternoon hike here... watch out for mosquitoes - boy were they hungry. There are several areas that are chained off , some for safety others ... private ? Not well marked but we did enjoy.

I've been to Horsethief Canyon many times, and taken visitors there as well. The view from the top is fabulous, but it's even more fun to climb down and hike around a bit. It's easy enough for kids, or you can make it more exciting if you go off trail and climb up some of the hoodoos. Definitely worth a... More
