This tour was by far the best thing we did during our trip to Alberta. Don was incredible! His knowledge is astounding and his tour was informative and funny and he even helped with photo tips. He had insider info and took us to places before they got busy and he seemed to know everyone we met. We only had one other couple on our tour and he catered his tour to our interests. To make sure we had enough time at the museum, he dropped us off and told us to call him when we were done. We loved being able to take our own time and never felt rushed. It was an entire week of sites and info jammed into a day trip. We learned so much about the history of Drumheller and Alberta. He helped arrange us transport from Calgary and when our bags got left in his trunk, he made sure they got back to us. Don made this an amazing experience and I would highly recommend his tours to everyone. His is a true tour by a local. 10/10

My daughter and I had booked this tour months ago and today Don picked us up and took us on a wonderful tour today. He showed up 10 minutes prior to our meeting time and we learned so much from Don, all about Drumheller, saw everything that was listed on their website and more! He took us to great look outs, took pictures of us and told us the history of the different areas.

This is a great company to pick for a great and informative tour! Thank you Don!

Don was an excellent host for the tour, my friend and I had already seen many of the stops on our the tour on our own before the tour began. Don was able to accommodate us and show us many things that we had not seen and included some of his own favourite places not posted on the tour which was extra special to us. His extensive knowledge of the history of Drumhellar really made the experience that much better for us. Highly recommend this tour!

The owners of this business are unprofessional and not trustworthy. We booked a tour in July 2021 for four for a late August 2021 departure, putting down a deposit for the full tour amount via eTransfer, as they required (they state that eTransfer is more 'secure' than credit cards, which should have been a red flag for me). Because of COVID and the impact of the wild fires, we cancelled our tour more than 3 weeks from the scheduled tour date, giving notice through email. Wild West Badlands Tours' cancellation policy is 50% of your money will be refunded if you cancel more than 2 weeks from scheduled departure. I followed up on our refund through email and voicemails (good luck getting them to answer their phone) and eventually received text messages from them acknowledging we are owed a refund, but asking for a couple of weeks' time because they 'process their refunds at the end of each month'. I gave them that time but have not heard from them since. I have left numerous voicemails, texts, and emails expecting them to follow through on their word and policies but have received no response in over 3 weeks. If a company is not willing to follow it's own policies I wouldn't trust them with my money, and I don't think you should either.

We trusted this tour agency based on good online reviews, even being a Trip Advisor awardee years ago.

Unfortunately, Don Johnston made an alibi to cancel our trip the last minute. Worse, he has not yet refunded our deposit made a month ago for this cancelled trip and he is now not taking my calls.

Visiting the Drumheller area, my family contacted Don for a guided tour. We ended up with a private tour due to the co-vid situation. What a wonderful afternoon spent with Don travelling through the badlands. He provided humour together with a lot of information regarding the area. A few sites were closed because of co-vid, however, I feel we covered the majority of the popular sites, including the badlands, Horsethief Canyon, the hoodoos, an old school house and the ghost town of Wayne. It was a pleasure spending the afternoon with Don and learning about this unique area.

We did the tour on Aug 1. Don arrived at our hotel promptly and greeted us warmly. We are a family of 3 and it was just us on the tour. We went in a sedan car with wonderful air conditioning. The car was clean and Don wears a head set so everyone in the car can hear him. Don was very knowledgeable about the valley. We learned so much taking the tour instead of visiting the spots on our own. We visited the little white church, Horsethief canyon, the Bleriot ferry, Orkney view point, the suspension bridge, the hoodoos, and the ghost town of Wayne. We enjoyed each location. Don was great at balancing giving us the tour information and allowing us to walk around the sites at our own pace. The only disappointment was that the suspension bridge was closed to the public due to structural issues. We still got to see the bridge but we unable to cross it. We highly recommend this tour!

Thanks to Don and Val for a wonderful tour. We (me, wife and two active boys) visited the Tyrell Museum in the morning and got picked up at the Ramada at 1:30pm. They took us on the tour covering the suspension bridge, Wayne with its last chance salon and 11 bridges, hoodoos and passion play set. They were friendly, knowledgeable and extremely well priced for the 3 hours of the tour. Would definitely recommend this tour instead of doing it yourself.

After a lengthy drive to get here, it was nice to have some else drive so I could see the sights. The family was able to relax, see some amazing sites and get historical information. Travel was over 100km's, 3 hours plus and at the end there was a 50% of at the Tyrrell Museum. Total must to do first before heading to the museum. Recommend to bring a cooler bag with a couple of drinks and some snacks.
